Ok, not sure why this place is flagged as being closed, but it’s definitely not since I ate there last night. Maybe they were closed temporarily? A bit of warning, this won’t be a comprehensive review, I’m still recovering from a late night.;) Anyway, made reservations for this place a few days ago for last night right before The Cure concert which was a blast! Our reservation was for 6:00 p.m. We arrived at 6:10 and were seated right away even though the place was very busy. Our server explained the menu and was quick to take our order. We requested the bacon wrapped dates, grilled peach salad, flat iron steak, lamb chops, fingerling potatoes and butterscotch pots de crème. Bacon wrapped dates were yummy, but it’s not something you can really wreck. The grilled peach salad was refreshing and light. Unfortunately I didn’t get the name of the wine I had as I gave my server full reign to choose something for me. I simply asked for something versatile, crisp, slightly sweet and not dry. What he brought me paired well with every dish. Although I didn’t try it, my friend said the steak was very good. My lamb chops were served with grilled peppers. They were tender and flavorful, although could have been a bit more rare. The fingerling potatoes were served in a sauce and well with the chops. The butterscotch pot de crème was divine and the perfect ending to the meal. Bottom line: I’d dine there in a heartbeat if seeing a show at the Hollywood Bowl.

Wow… I’ve been to the Bowl for year but have always brought in food. The Wine Bar has changed my mind about doing this again. The food and atmosphere was just amazing! Our server was super friendly and so knowledgeable about everything on the menu. I had a perfect seat overlooking everyone making the trek up the hill, well I sipped my champagne… Corkage is free! The kale Caesar salad, grilled cheese sandwich, steak frites and Lamb belly were all stunning! I just hope whoever replaces Patina is as good

A must visit if you are at the Hollywood Bowl and want an excellent meal. I was visiting from NYC and came here with friends who live locally. The food was spectacular — interesting combinations, very fresh and well prepared. The scallop ceviche was my favorite! The wine selection was equally excellent. Great, attentive service. An all around fantastic treat!

The Service: Wonderful! All the staffs are very professional. Really nice bar. Love the community tables and the seating area along the glass wall. Great place for people watching. It is facing right at the main entrance. The Food/Drink: Drink prices are reasonable. The food price is a little bit pricey. But hey, it is inside Hollywood Bowl with nice seating area so it is worth it! You don’t have to fight for picnic tables or prepare your own picnic basket. They serve you delicious drinks and food… it is totally worth it! We will absolutely do it again next time~ * Definitely make reservation in advance! Sometimes they do take walk-in but don’t take the chance…

The Wine Bar is the perfect spot for an early diner before the show at the Bowl. I’ve been there two nights in a row and for both the service and the food were very good. All the staff is aware of the short timing and everything is made to get you on time to the show. Moreover its doesn’t affect the quality of the service. The staff is friendly and full of attention. Professionalism and efficiency, the Wine Bar is a well-managed place. The food is tasty and well presented. The fact that you have to share the plates bring some joy and friendliness to the ambiance. I would definitely recommend it !

My musician friend was in from out of town, so I decided to go a little upscale at the Hollywood Bowl and made reservations for the Wine Bar before an LA Phil performance. We had a reservation but were running late and called ahead; the host, Amanda, was understanding and accommodating. Upon arrival, we were seated promptly and greeted immediately. The outdoor dining room provided gorgeous panoramic views to enjoy with dinner. The menu was a delight and complemented what proved to be a unique wine list. The sommelier delivered Jardesca with tonic as an apéritif – refreshing and a nice touch. He was very knowledgeable and made us feel at home. I cannot recall his name, but he was tall with an accent that was possibly Austrian. The food was phenomenal – small shared plates and we loved every one of them. The wings were so delicious that we ordered more to take into the show! For an excellent Hollywood dining experience, make a reservation at the Wine Bar at the Hollywood Bowl.

Amazing experience! My sister took me here last night for dinner before the show. The hostess, Quincy, was fabulous and seated us at a spot overlooking the whole hill. Our server, Matt, made great wine and food recommendations and took excellent care of us! The atmosphere is great, the selection is unique, and the service is a 10!

Early Dinner Review … Went to a show at the Hollywood Bowl. To make things easier, decided to arrive early and have dinner at the Wine Bar, which is located near the main entrance to the box seats. Turned out to be a very good decision. Food: Nice meal. While the website describes the Wine Bar as offering small and large plates, the server advised that the dishes are tapas-style … which makes me think of small plates, but actually found all of the dishes to be on the larger side. 1. Gazpacho with Dungeness Crab in Puff Pastry — The gazpacho was nicely done, balanced and refreshing for a summer day; they added a little fennel which was a very nice touch. Unfortunately, the Dungeness crab was forgettable, and the puff pastry cups were … hmmm, what’s the opposite of light and flaky??? 2. Foie Gras & Chicken Liver Mousse on Toast — The foie gras and chicken liver mousse was great, and the toast was nicely done but a little too thick, which made it difficult to eat. Still, pretty tasty overall. 3. Beet, Goat Cheese & Walnut Salad — Nicely done salad with good amounts of beets, goat cheese, and walnuts … not overdressed. 4. Duck Confit Tortellini — Really nice dish, light but rich; very, very tasty. 5. Mediterranean Sea Bass — Again, a really nice dish; fish was well cooked, maybe the skin could have been crisper. Note — Mediterranean sea bass(aka branzino) is not to be confused with Chilean sea bass(aka Patagonian toothfish). 6. Espresso — Good way to finish dinner. Service: Friendly and professional. Dishes came out rather quickly and unevenly; had just started on the gazpacho(and my friend had just started on her salad) when the mousse came out; this was followed 15 minutes later by her tortellini, which was finally followed 15 minutes later by my sea bass. To their benefit, I did hear a server tell another table that because the dishes are«tapas-style,» they are served simply as the kitchen prepares them. More importantly, I initially felt rushed, but realized that they don’t try to turn the tables over and seem content with a single sitting before the show … and our server actually encouraged us to sit and relax when we were done. Kudos! Atmosphere: Casual, outdoor patio setting. Sat along the outer rail, which was nice for people watching. Unilocal Check-In: Took advantage of a Unilocal Check-In offer to get a discount. Nice!

The Hollywood Bowl is an iconic amphitheater in Los Angeles. Usually people bring in food or order at the concession stands. But if you want to make your night a little extra special or just want to experience fine dining while at the Bowl, the Wine Bar is an excellent option. This is a great place to fill up on small bites before a concert. It’s fun to people watch as they stroll into the Hollywood Bowl. I tried the Blue Tiger Shrimp(very tasty), Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Fig Jam(simple yet delicious), Duck Confit Tortellini(original and delicious), Lobster Salad(refreshingly light). All were really good dishes, and filling but not heavy. For dessert, I tried the Panna Cotta which was amazing. I got the Jardesca Sonoma with Tonic Water, which was thirst quenching. Service was impeccable. This is definitely one of my favorite Patina restaurants — hands down.

My husband and I went last night to see John Fogerty at The Hollywood Bowl. We looked at our options to eat since we were both coming to the concert after work and didn’t have time to bring a picnic basket or stop at a restaurant on the way. We looked at the concession stand menu or the Patina market choices. Those choices did not appeal to either one of us. We chose The Wine Bar. Did not have reservations but thought it wouldn’t hurt to at least ask if there was a table. There was a table available and we both were pleasantly surprised. The hostess sat is quickly, was quite friendly and made us feel welcome. Our waitress, Corlis, was exceptional. She was helpful in telling us our options of food choices. The food was brought out fairly quickly. My husband and I shared a salad that looked like a bird’s nest. Wish I had taken a picture. Then we had a hangar steak with fries. Both were delicious. The dessert was grilled pineapple with cake and a yogurt on top. Excellent! We plan on returning. It is pricey but it is something you do not do often.

Awesome! By far the best option at the Hollywood Bowl. Fantastic way to start the evening out, get there before the show to enjoy the view and the weather. Right at the bottom of the bowl so you can hear the opening act. Fantastic food and incredible service. Stefan(the sommelier) is fantastic, whatever he recommends just say«yes» to, you won’t regret it. My favorite thing about the Hollywood bowl is this bar(sometimes even over the music).

The staff here is amazing. We came here to see Journey tonight and we are kinda young compared to their usual clientele, and they treated us like royalty. The barbacks, Ezri, Daniel, Chris, and«Magic Mike» were the best. Can’t wait to come back!

An absolutely stunning experience! A beautiful modern restaurant with al fresco dining. FOOD: Wonderful small plate style food with a modern California feel. They do offer some larger plates but my girlfriend and I decided to share a selection of small plates, some of the highlights were the White Gazpacho(refreshing and flavorful), the charred Brussel Sprouts(A nice light preparation) and The Squid Ink Pasta(It was a special that night). Over all the food is exactly what you would want dinning outside in the summer in California. Light flavorful and very fairly priced. WINE: One of the highlights of the whole evening for me. The wine list is meticulously curated by the Manager/Somm Stephan. They have all the classics you would expect for a California wine bar(Big Cabernets and Chardonays) But what really got me excited was the«Interesting» Red and White wine categories, if focuses on interesting wines form California I got to try an amazing Chenin Blanc form Habit among others. SERVICE: Friendly and Knowledgeable our waitress Heather was an absolute delight and paced the meal perfectly to get us on to the show on time. All in all we had a amazing experience and we will be back every time we go to the bowl! Note: A special thank you to Stephan who really made the meal special, The one thing I would recommend to anyone dinning here is to try some wine from the Interesting category, the staff and especially Stephan are extremely good at recommending something new and interesting wines depending on your flavor preferences and price range.

Went here with some friends for dinner before the Fourth of July Special with Steve Martin and have to say I could not have had a better experience. Our group must have tried 75% of the menu and everything was delicious. I wan’t expecting to find genuinely high quality oysters here, but lo and behold they were delicious. Also enjoyed a few soju cocktails that started changing my mind about the stuff. The service was also fantastic. Everything was brought out promptly and there were some great suggestions on food from the waitstaff. Overall a wonderful experience and great incentive to come back for future visits!

Had the pleasure of dining at Wine Bar before the Fireworks show on July 4th. For it being a holiday, I braced myself for a longer wait or lackluster service(which in most cases, I can understand and forgive when a restaurant is slammed on a busy night). Let me just say from the moment we were seated, Stefan and the rest of the staff made us feel like true VIPs. Exceptional 5-star service throughout our meal! Standouts were the grilled cheese, pork cheek and the macaroni and cheese! Oh my gosh, I think we devoured them as soon as they got to the table! Such an amazing place to have a relaxing dinner in a beautiful setting before a concert at the bowl. We definitely will be coming back in the future!

We made reservations but they didn’t have us on the list.(4 – 26) I became a little worried but they still sat us. It is a great place to chill out while waiting for a concert. It truly is a wonderful space but the food is just ok. We ordered the hangar steak with some sort of fries,(they weren’t fries but shaped and fried like fries, just can’t remember the name) The ones that weren’t way over cooked were really good. The steak was so so, a little too raw for my taste. We also ordered the macaroni and cheese. It was good just not enough for me to justify the price. Oh and for the app, it was the roasted brussels sprouts, they were alright.(I am not of fan of those things-brussels sprouts in general, but somebody else in our party ordered them so I tried them) The service was good and very friendly. Plus, I understand that they are going for the foo foo effect but just please add a little more food to the plates, perhaps a burger, for us that like to sit somewhere nice and have a little substance in us to offset the alcohol ;) We are wiling to pay! I want to go back because the space is so nice

I attend about 20 Hollywood Bowl concerts every season. Yesterday morning, I phoned Patina group to make a reservation at The Wine Bar for 2 at 7:15. Had to leave a message as their line was busy. Left all the info, including my phone number in case they needed to return my call, which they didn’t. Arrived promptly at 7:15. Hostess said she didn’t have my res and couldn’t seat us because they were full. They were NOT full, There were more than 20 seats available. She claimed they were being saved for people who had reservations but had not yet shown up.(I saw her res log and there were 2 names not crossed off, one of which said«manager’s) We did end up getting food to go and stood up at a table near the entrance to eat it. For the entire time, those 20 seats remained empty. This is inexcusably horrific customer service. I must say, the bartender who took our ‘to go’ order was very pleasant and also indicated that he was amazed that she wouldn’t seat us. I know our experience must not be par for the course for Patina. I’ve dined at most of their restaurants and have always had excellent food and service.

(Dined 08÷16÷13 F @ 6:30pm): Music, wine, the outdoors… it’s a shame you needed a ticket to get passed the turnstiles in order to experience this! A new addition to the Hollywood Bowl for the 2013 season, I finally made the time to try out The Wine Bar At Hollywood Bowl with a friend and another whom worked for the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Yeah, we all coordinated this! I’d admired from afar this new beacon of buzz since the Bowl season started having already seen five shows prior to this evening’s «Tchaikovsky’s Spectacular with Fireworks». Thankfully, we arrived early enough before the crowd started to pour in. Sure, we had the usual bottles of wine and food, but come on, we had to try the new Patina place. Once we were seated and scanned the menu, here was how our first meal of the evening went: Trumer Pilsner — 1 pint($ 9.00) — This German style pilsner was wonderfully light and totally refreshing for this warm evening of Tchaikovsky music and eye-popping fireworks. If we didn’t have bottles of wine with us, I may have ordered another. So, I decided to baby it until we uncorked the wine at our seats.
Macaroni and Cheese($ 12.00) — I always loved me some mac & cheese! This combination of white cheddar, breadcrumbs, chives, and parsley was simply heavenly and hot all the way through. The crunchiness along the top and edges was another highlight. I savored this because the portion size was smaller than I’d hoped. Please consider a bump in size; this mac & cheese monster implores you!
Alois Pinot Grigio($ 13.00) — My friend ordered this. Another perfect pairing with the warm weather, the supple taste and clean finish was to be sipped and allowed to settle on your tongue before it washed down your throat. Pulled Pork Sliders($ 12.00) — My friend ordered this. This two-slider dish was a disappointment to the both of us. Its Hawaiian-Mexican mix of pineapple and jalapeño coleslaw was a nice touch, but the shredded pork was a bit dry and the scant amount of BBQ sauce didn’t help. The bread was also good, but we hoped for at least three sliders and a bit more side veggies(we really liked the pickles). Service — The staff(especially Ezri) was impressively courteous and friendly, more than willing to help answer any question you had about the menu, and was quick to deliver drinks and food once you placed your order. They also checked in on you, cleared any empty dishes, and realized that everyone was on a time limit for when the show started so the check arrived immediately once it was obvious you were done. Parking — Onsite stacked parking that started from $ 17.00 was available, but do yourself a favor and take one of the many Hollywood Bowl Shuttle services they had around the city($ 5.00 roundtrip), like the one I took from the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens. You’ll thank me later. Atmosphere, décor, ambience — Completely exposed to the outdoors, this place was perched atop the main entrance to the box seats and the first thing you saw as you walked up the main thoroughfare. Ample seating was available along the plexiglass railing that looked out over the walkway, as well as many tables that seated up to four, a row of communal barstools that surrounded a single long table, or if you liked there was seating at the bar/counter. There was a very sterile feel and nary any walls for anything to be hung. Obviously, natural lighting reigned supreme. I didn’t recall any TVs, and any background noise would’ve been the numerous conversations all around you. Attire — It was totally casual so I was in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. Overall, I’m very fond of and respected the Patina Group for their dining contributions to Los Angeles, but The Wine Bar At Hollywood Bowl, along with their other restaurants always left me wanting more, and not necessarily in a good way. I understood they used the best ingredients and are creative with them, but at the end of the day, I wanted to have that satisfied feeling which I didn’t here. I found good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above(total bill was around $ 50.00 before tip), but as I’ve personally found with all Patina establishments I felt the pricing was always more than what I’d expected to pay. I’m just not a fancy guy and more about my perceived value. And, they accepted my credit card of choice… AMEX!

My favorite summer discovery is the brand new Wine Bar at the Hollywood Bowl! Perched on the hill, the sleek, modern Wine Bar gives you the best outdoor seating you could wish for on a sumer evening in LA, with gorgeous views the crowds below are missing. Sipping a glass of wine and sharing a surprisingly perfect burrata and melon salad, my friend and I couldn’t help but notice the curious and jealous looks of the people walking by; I even think I heard some grumblings about if they had known this place existed they wouldn’t have brought their sad sandwich and boring bottle. The wine list was wonderful, and definitely does justice to the place’s name, with something for everyone in all price ranges, and great wines by the glass. I’m not a big beer drinker, but my friend is and she was excited by their beers on tap. The food was delicious and tapas style so great for sharing with friends or a romantic date. I was expecting it to be expensive but the dishes were actually very affordable. My only problem is that you can’t go to the Wine Bar without a ticket to a concert! I wish I could go all the time, and will probably be going to more shows than I did last summer just because the Wine Bar makes it much more special. If you are going to a concert at the Hollywood Bowl, do not miss out on the Wine Bar! Unless you like turning green with foodie envy that is, I guess everyone has their thing.
