Im not much of a coffee drinker, but I must say @elabrew has changed my perspective on coffee overall. This place not only has great drinks, but a very kind and helpful staff.

I LOVEDTHEMOCHA! This place is located right in front of the CNN Tower on Sunset. The actual coffee shop was closed, but I walked up to the coffee truck that was parked right in front of the shop. The guy who was serving me was really nice! I had a Living Social voucher that expired, and he was nice enough to honor it anyway! YAY! He gave me a couple pastries. I got the Chocolate Croissant and the Apple Pop Tart. Both were yummy! I was torn between the Latte and the Mocha. and ended up going for the mocha(can’t resist anything with chocolate!). It was delicious! If I’m ever in the area, I’ll definitely come back! :) Great service & yummy coffee!

super duper cute place — I love it the décor and the way they have the whole place set it. It’s great that you can sit outside and the real bonus … The coffee is really delicious. I wasn’t TOO impressed when I asked for my $ 4.75 almond milk late in a ceramic mug, largest size(for here) and I got it in the small«to-go» cup. I wasn’t going to be too butt hurt about it though. After sitting outside with my to-go cup with for about 5 minutes, the young lady inside brought my girlfriend and I a sweet potato muffin, on the house, and apologized for the mug/to-go cup mix up. That was seriously not at all expected and VERY nice of her. After all, a cup is a cup, I guess I was being too particular. Either way, no big deal, but the customer service she provided really put this place at the top of my list. I’ll go and pay another 4.75 for an almond milk latte just because of the great taste their customer service left in my mouth. Oh and that sweet potato muffin? HOLYMOLY, you must try this thing, it’s like a piece of heaven… Definitely stop by Elabrew… You’ll be glad you did.

After hiking the Hollywood Sign Trail, I wanted food and a cup of coffee. I wanted to see what was in the area other than Starbucks or Coffee Bean, and luckily I stumbled upon this place. What’s better is that I got one free(check in on Unilocal!) cup of latte on the house. C’mon, what’s better than free? Well, my experience at this cute little coffee shop located in front of the CNN tower was better than my free cup of latte. The barista was kind, helpful, and had a keen sense of humor. Although I was getting a free cup of latte on the house, he offered me different ideas/ways on how to make my latte different from the rest(flavor, milk choice). However, I wasn’t feeling too adventurous that morning so I stuck with a nonfat latte. When I picked up my cup of latte from the window, I was not disappointed. First off, I love lattes because of the latte art/design. I got a heart on mine :) The temperature was just right, making it easy to sip and appreciate the taste of their one-of-a-kind coffee beans. The flavor was on point — not bitter and not masked with sweetness from unneccessary flavorings. So hey you, barista, thank you for a lovely cup of latte on a what could’ve been another average LA morning.

Nothing warms my heart more than witnessing the growing number of specialty coffee retailers.(But now that I think about it… a dozen macarons from Maison Ladurée Paris or dinner at Providence on Melrose actually does warm my heart more.) Elabrew Coffee Sunset provides coffee connoisseurs an additional option for java while roaming through Hollywood. Located out front of the CNN Building entrance, a miniature glass cube structure serves as Elabrew Sunset’s operation space. But don’t expect to walk into an actual shop. Ordering and pick up is performed out of a window. Elabrew discriminately features coffee from select PacNorWest roasters, most notably: Kuma(Seattle), Ritual(San Francisco), Stumptown(Portland), and recently 49th Parallel(Vancouver, BC). Caffe Latte — Stumptown«Hair Bender Espresso»($ 4.25): 2.75÷5 Being familiar with the potential of Hair Bender espresso, I was a little taken back by the over extracted shots. Occasionally hints of jasmine pierced through the harsh burnt espresso and sour milk. Sadly, this latte did not finish clean, leaving a filmy sour taste resonating on my palate.(Sour finish more than likely attributed to their choice of milk provider.) Almond Cappuccino — 49th Parallel«Epic Espresso»($ 4.50): 2.5÷5 My return to Elabrew happened on their inaugural serving of 49th Parallel Epic Espresso. You can say expectations were high because 49th Parallel Epic Espresso happens to be one of my favorite roasts. Coupled with almond milk… this experience should have been ‘epic!’ Regrettably, they hadn’t properly dialed in their grind, nor had they achieved proper extraction timing and volume. The final product again suffered from harsh burnt aroma. To further complicate matters, their choice of almond milk left a pronounced earthy film on my palate. A phone call placed an hour later would lead to a heartfelt apology, encouragement to return, and a complimentary espresso beverage. Caffe Latte — Blend of 49th Parallel«Epic Espresso» & Ritual«Seersucker»: 3⁄5 Noticing the hopper was full of beans, I asked what espresso was being pulled. Apparently, the hopper had a remnant of 49th Epic followed by Ritual Seersucker. Instantly, I had a gut feeling that this cup of espresso was going to be interesting. While this latte did not exhibit the burnt aromatics of former beverages, the result was very thin, weak espresso with again, a sour finish. ***BEGINSIDEBAR*** So, where am I going with this talk about mixed espresso beans? Look at it this way: Whenever you’re working with only one bean/roast, in this case 49th Parallel Epic Espresso, you wouldn’t want to pour a bag of Epic from a different roast date on top of the older beans in the hopper. Why? Because I can guarantee your grinder calibration settings will deviate from the old batch(affecting the taste of shots being pulled). That said, why would you pour a totally different bean into the hopper and blindly pull shots? Wouldn’t it be better to just burn through the remaining beans and start fresh with an empty hopper? ***ENDSIDEBAR*** Josh and Alex digested my feedback as we discussed at length all possible factors leading to all three of my experiences at Elabrew. This was a clear indication that they have a passion to improve and serve outstanding espresso. They also realize that they must slow their espresso rotation in order to cup consistent espresso. In spite of there being much room for improvement, I have no reservation to return as I firmly believe they will make all necessary adjustments to fix these issues brought to their attention. Stay tuned for an update.

My friend and I both ordered almond milk lattes(they have almond milk!!!), and they were delicious. Our barista was super friendly, and the lattes were at the perfect temperature to drink right there. What a wonderful little coffee stand in Hollywood!

Dare I say it??? Buh Bye Coffee Commissary, Buh Bye Intelligentsia in Stella Barra — Hello Elabrew!!! I passed this place awhile ago(my office is in a bldg a few blocks down Sunset) and knew I needed to try it, while out on a neighborhood stroll yesterday I spotted a few folks holding iced drinks in Elabrew cups and I knew the wait was over. I Unilocaled them immediately to discover they are brewing Stumptown(which makes me want to be in Portland and Seattle NOW!!!) and it took all of me to wait until this morning to check them out! This spot is super hot! and I’m in love already. Funky fun little set up in-front of the CNN bldg. Same concept as Coffee Commissary at Siren — walk up window, no inside access to the public. It’s safe to proclaim inside is for their very talented, patient, friendly and kind barista. Love the espresso, love their non fat milk, love the latte art! They sell pastries(scones, pop tarts, muffins, croissants etc.) from Susina Bakery(the blueberry pop tart was amazing!!!) Great service, I will return over and over again daily! Welcome to the hood Elabrew, glad to have you! Oh! and I discovered they have a coffee truck — I’m soooo booking that bad boy for something as soon as possible. Non Fat Latte Small(double shot) $ 4.25 Blueberry Pop Tart $ 3.75

Great Sunday Morning Coffee Pick-Me-Up! SITREP This was a decided treat after pulling an all-nighter with friends — first dancing until 3am and then hitting the after-party until we just crashed on the bean bags for a few hours(I think I lost consciousness around 6am — at least that’s what she told me). THESETUP But just some blocks away is this cool little java-stop at the CNN tower that serves some delicious Latte’s. So it was easy to do the walk-of-shame(near the walk-of-fames further up over on Hollywood Blvd.) ;) Delicious, with just the right amount of coffee kick that I was looking for at this time of the Mornin. [I felt like the old guy having to chastise the youngsters doing their fast & furious on the roads, «Hey kid, it’s 9:30am on Sunday Morning — turn your car stereo down, okay?] OUTSIDEPATIO This is really an outside set-up with some tables & chairs. But the operation also is out in Santa Monica and they have a «Coffee Van» that goes around and caters large amounts of specialty coffee drinks made at locations that you might want to have them at. THELOWDOWN A delicious coffee experience off the beaten path.

So i have to admit, i came here because my girlfriend purchased the livingsocial deal so i wasn’t expecting much. But OHBOY, was i wrong. The barista was seriously one of the most knowledgeable coffee professionals i’ve encountered! I told him what i liked and he recommended the perfect match. Coffee was fantastic! It’s nice to find someone who loves coffee and who can appreciate the long and unique journey a bean will take before it hits your cup and all the hard work that goes into the process. All in all, a great experience. i will be back for many more

Its an outdoor coffee stop. The latte i had was decent it just needed a bit more coffee in it. I’ll give it another shot the next time i head to the arclight theatre and adjust my review. The milk was expanded very well though. It just needed a bit more coffee flavor. Might of been the beans were a tad bit too mild for an espresso based latte.

Great coffee place! They use Stumptown beans, my favorite roaster from Portland, Or. The Baristas are very friendly and experts at making coffee beverages. For a great cup of coffee or latte that is crafted with care and attention to detail, Elabrew is the place to go!

I frequent Brew on my way to work in the morning. A friendly staff I always look forward to seeing. It’s the best spot in Hollywood for a cup of coffee on the go. It’s also the only place in Hollywood that serves Portland’s infamous Stumptown. And I don’t believe Stumptown allows just anyone to sell their beans who doesn’t know what they’re doing behind an espresso machine, and these folks know how to pull.

I was takin’ a walk in Hollywood, realizing that I hadn’t yet had a coffee, wanted something quick, and saw this little(and I do mean little) shop in front of the CNN tower. I would’ve kept walking had I not seen the lone woman slowly sipping her ‘jo, sitting in the few tables adjacent to the storefront. They sell coffee here? I didn’t think I’d hear Stumptown again since Portland. If I could fixate on just the brew, cashier and quality, I would’ve thought I was back up in the Pacific Northwest, but nope, still LA. A welcomed find and a new go-to spot for a daytime smooth brew.

I love this place. I had just moved to LA and a friend brought me here, and we were able to enjoy a free cappuccino and latte due to their awesome Unilocal check-in offer. Now some would think this is a tactic for a sub-par coffee joint to get people to visit their establishment in hopes they would buy some of their overpriced baked goods. But this was not the case. Not only were we not pressured to buy anything they also went out of their way to come out to their cool little dining area and deliver us their wifi key when they saw me pull out my laptop. Naturally, my always hungry self did end up succumbing to the charms of their delicious looking pastries. I partook in a very large cranberry chocolate chip scone. It was probably one of the better scones I had ever had. The cappuccino I ordered was brewed very well and had a great leaf design to top it off. Note: I write this as I am currently visiting the establishment for the 2nd time, and this experience was just as great as the first. Very friendly dude at the bar and once again came out to check on me to make sure my wireless needs were met. This place does not seem to get the business or credit it much deserves. If you do visit, tip these people well. Trust me when I say they earn it.

This place is not your run of the mill place. My friend CeCe and I walked down here last weekend and she was surprised that it was open since she only foes here during the week. We got a latte(free with check-in) and a drip coffee. The coffee was great and the gentleman took his time with the latte art. I believe that they use Stumptown coffee which is part of why this place rocks. What was more impressive than the coffee was his knowledge of coffee. I was commenting on the grinders they use(Mazzer) and he got into a 20 min. long conversation about coffee and what not. It is always nice when someone really knows about coffee.

I work a couple blocks from here; so I come here, or to the Groundwork Coffee facing it from the other side of the street, whenever I start doing faceplants into the keyboard. Coffee stands almost always suck. Big time. Not this place. Stumptown beans, (Then again, they *did* start out as a food truck – so they weren’t aiming for the drive-through audience that isn’t expecting anything remotely fresh to begin with, on the way to a job that they didn’t expect anything remotely rewarding from to begin with.) They offer hot and iced coffee, espresso drinks, bagged tea, Breadbar pastries and seasonal/unlisted girly-sugary-Frappuccino-type drinks. They’ve also got a FiveStars-powered rewards programme(eleventh drink free, I think). If you opt for for-(t)here, there are nice, new tables to enjoy your drink in its nice, new porcelain ware in the nice, cancerous sun(with shade, depending on time of day and your seating decision). Always in the sun, because this place closes too early for it to get dark, unless there’s some weird-ass solar eclipse shit going on that day. They have wireless, but I’ve a hunch that no one has ever used it for anything more than derping around on Facebook; the open environment and location just don’t say ‘productivity’. Mostly it’s just people chatting with friends and staring blankly into Sunset Blvd – which is fine. The chick who works here is super energetic and friendly! It’s usually just one guy on duty closer to closing, though. He can sometimes be a little caught up in the world inside the stand, but once you make your presence known(dancing on the bench when you’re on crack, streaking until the police sirens turn on, whatever central-Hollywood antics cause rubbernecking and noise), he’s really nice. When they say they close at 5:30, it can mean more like 5:10, on a slow day. One time I waited for the empty stand with an Open sign for ten minutes, before the guy came back with a gallon of milk, apparently failed to notice me and proceeded straight to cleaning. So I turned and went to the other side of the street. Didn’t want to be the asshole who sticks his/her ass in the(door) hole and asstastically ask for crap to shove down his/her(upper gastrointestinal) hole. My own fault there for being too timid, though. They’re good, but I think I still prefer a proper sit-down coffee shop with Wi-Fi that I can use as a second office. Even if their outdoor seating really is quite pleasant. And unfortunately, they close too early in the day for me to come here just to chill after I’m off work. But better service than Groundwork across the street, so if you want to switch it up, this is a good place to check out for just chilling and good sips.
