eaten here many times, the food and service is always good

We are new to the neighborhood and decided to check this place out.
We arrived around 7pm on a Tuesday evening with our 2 and 4 year old girls in tow. We were seated immediately and offered our choice of table or booth, we chose a booth and were offered a choice of high-​chair or booster seats for the kids. We chose a booster seat for our youngest, and found the booster to be immaculately clean and not at all sticky (as booster seats often are).
We were delighted to find the menu decorated with images of The Parthenon, and several Greek-​Restaurant staples on the menu. As a native of Chicago, and person of Greek descent I found such menu items comforting, and immediately made up my mind to try their Gyros Sandwich. My wife opted for the Ribeye Steak dinner special (we opted to share our food with the kids, and our waitress was more than accommodating with extra plates).
I will admit, I was worried that the Gyros Sandwich would be too small for dinner as I pack a healthy appetite, but once it arrived I was relieved to find a sandwich of massive portions. This thing was huge, perfectly cooked, and made with the highest quality ingredients imaginable. The Greek Fries were excellent, with just the right amount of lemon juice and feta cheese.
Impressive as my Gyros were, my wife’s Ribeye dinner was awe-​inspiring. The dinner included not only soup AND salad in addition to several sides, but dessert as well! Her steak was hands down the most tender steak I’ve had the good fortune to sample outside of a high-​end steakhouse. I was only allowed a bite or two, but a day later I am still thinking about it. The soup was a one of a kind minestrone with navy bean, and was excellent. For dessert we opted for cookies and cream ice-​cream (other options included bread pudding and tapioca. They were out of bread pudding).
Other than the amazing food, some things of note:
— This restaurant still offers a basket of bread and butter while you wait for your food. The bread was warm, fresh sourdough.
— Waitstaff was amazingly diligent, and despite the casual exterior of the restaurant looked sharp and professional in their uniform.
— There is additional parking in back
— Food arrived in a mercifully short amount of time (those with kids will appreciate this).
— This is not an inexpensive place to eat, but is not expensive either. It is what, in my youth, I felt was the realm of second-​date dining. On the first date, you want to wow a person with fanciness. On the second date however, you wanted to wow them with your knowledge of local places with, simply put, great food.

Seated right away any where we liked. Great choice of sandwich, Salads, and Soups.
The Sandwich I ordered was the special of the day Roast Beef, also Chicken Strips and Jalapeño Cheese were all great tasting. Glad to see the smiling faces on the staffs faces. Reasonable priced items. Will be back one day to try other items on on the menu.

Now this place is the best ace I’ve eaten at there prices are fair there food is wonderful I recommend it’s place to all

I’ve been here once since I moved back to Hollister and it was ok. A little pricey but the portions are huge and the food is ok, very limited on dessert. Overall I’d go back.

Service was friendly and food was good. Too much food! Not a bad thing but come hungry. I had gotten the philly and it was delicious! My boyfriend got the bacon cheeseburger and he said it was «Scrumdidilyumpcsious»

Outstanding restaurant outstanding all their food is really really good service is outstanding just all around great restaurant I would highly recommend this to anybody. this is a real diamond of a restaurant I could go on how great it is but I will close as saying best restaurant in Hollister

Arci the waitress is such a sweetheart. It was out first time in our new town and she was so warm and funny and welcoming. Truly a sweet person. Food portions we’re huge and price was cheap. Food was delicious! Cant wait to come back. Thank you for an awesome experience.

My first experience at George’s Grill was a take-​out order for a gyro and fries today at noon. I was steered to George’s after reading a favorable review about it on the What’s Going on in Hollister Facebook page. My gyro and Greek fries meal was just over $ 11 and was worth every cent. The gyro was perfect and the fries were thicker-​cut, seasoned with Feta cheese, and spices. They had a really good lemony flavor. I am stuffed after eating just a little less than half and am sorry that I had to skip the gym this morning. My mouth wants to keep eating. The flavors are great.
I called in my ordered to a friendly staff member who ten minutes later was also my cashier. Great, fast, and pleasant service! I will be back.
PS. They don’t take American Express, my credit card of preference.

How we ended up in Hollister is a story in itself. :-P … We decided to eat here because I didn’t want some run of the mill fast food & this place seemed busy. The parking lot was full. Busy = good food I hoped. We were not disappointed!
The garden omelette was delicious. Will’s pork chops & eggs were *f-​awesome* in his words. The portions are large and it tastes like the cook actually cares about what he’s made.
The other guests in our party were very satisfied as well. None of us had been here before & we just left there stuffed as can be.
Melissa was our server. Will & I were amazed at her in depth knowledge of the different ways eggs can be cooked. Most of the time it’s us explaining it to the servers. She’s very friendly with a great personality. Every so often she’d check on us and was quick to bring whatever we needed. Thank you Melissa for excellent customer service. We hope to get her as our waitress next time. We were told the cooks name is David. Kudos to David for delicious food.
On a final note, I could not give 5 stars because the bathroom was not stocked with toilet paper & the smell of the grill eminated everywhere. It felt like the ceiling fans were circulating the smoke instead of getting rid of it.

The food is adequate. It’s not extraordinary but it’s not terrible. Lots of choices on the menu and the specials are pretty good considering that the portions are huge. I’m talking enough for 2 people to share and be more than satisfied. Example: the fried chicken dinner comes with 4 pieces of fried chicken, sides, a dinner salad and dessert. Food menu is what to be expect of an American traditional restaurant: burgers, sandwiches, steak, chicken, pasta, etc.

Had an awesome dinner after climbing with friends at Pinnacles. The food and service was terrific and portion sizes are ENORMOUS.

Food was good it was average at best, prices were high!
Service was adequate but not enough to justify the high prices! Felt like we were dinning at Denny’s yet paying pebble beach prices!

My husband and I had dinner here tonight. They have many items to choose from. I had the steak and pasta & my husband had the special which was a 12oz ribeye for $ 19.95. To say their portions are big is a true understatement! They start you with soup, salad and then your entrée…plus dessert to make it even sweeter. Like I said, the portions are so big not only did I need a to go box, but my husband did as well. And service was amazing! Will definitely be going back very soon.

I should have gone to Taco Bell. Came in for a meal on a weekday evening. Was seated right away, but apparently no communication with the servers who all thought I was being helped by someone else and ignored me. Tried flagging someone down, but didn’t get anyone’s attention until I got up and started walking out. I should have left. They convinced me to stay and order. I choose a cheeseburger, rather convinced that it could not be that bad.
QUANTITY is no substitute for QUALITY.
Burger was fatty, chewy, slim compared to the picture & other places I’ve been. It was also, not cooked to order. The plate was overloaded with fries. It could have fed 3 starving people, but I am pretty sure the only thing in that meal that did not have high fructose corn syrup was their homemade thousand island dressing. Service, when I finally got it was nice, but still inattentive. They did not check on how my meal was until they dropped off the check.
Go elsewhere & tell the staff to eat out at a real restaurant to see how it is done.

Love this place! They give you your money’s worth! The food is awesome and the serving are more then enough! Strongly recommend
