Worst customer service ever. I have been at that store searching for help for over 20 minutes some times, and the store was dead. There are barely no sales associates for such a huge store. I even was pointed to the wrong direction for an item once, and if you do ask for help, the associates seem to be pretty miserable. They won’t actually show you where something is, they just say, «um, I think aisle 53» and there’s about a million aisles in that store. The last time I was there, only one associate was ringing up customers, while taking phone calls at the same time. Over in the corner near the registers three other employees were standing around and chatting while there was a huge line of customers waiting to be rung up. Unbelievable. I will never shop there again.

I can’t even begin to say how many times this Michaels got me through College. I would get all of my art supplies here and then some, studying design I would wander the aisles searching for something to catch my eye and imagination. That was a while ago. now I come when getting great things for my mother, to just plop on her lap who then diligently pops out all kinds of goodies for her grand kids at a whim. They are always well stocked with everything you might need for any kind of craft, plenty of art supplies and threads(Grandmas area) for some funky, cool scarves or throw blankets — thanks mom. I **heart** this place. Really.

This place can be quite addictive. I’m not a crafty person, but I am very creative. I usually go here with a purpose, but I can see how people get all excited and start buying a bunch of stuff to be crafty. This is a really nice store for home décor, jewelry, picture frames or gifts –they really have so many things you buy on the cheap and then decorate or personalize yourself(see reviewer Emily B. and her creative tea tins! I have had good luck finding what I’ve needed here!

What? I didn’t give Michael’s five stars? That’s changing NOW. I went to Teavana because I am now oddly obsessed with leaf tea, and of course, they tried to upsell as small Woodfield establishments are wont to do. The Teavana people were pushing these adorable little tins covered in fabric for 14.00 apiece. I, luckily for my budget, have some sensibility and creativity and headed immediately to Michael’s where I purchased two larger metal tins for a whopping 2.00 each. I dropped another 2.00 at a nearby fabric store and if I remember correctly how to use scissors and glue, I’ll have tins like the ones at Teavana for $ 22 less. Huzzah! Michael’s has done it again!

I like Michael’s, they have great activities for the kiddies. I also like that they have weekly craft demonstrations over the weekends. They do have a decent selection to choose from, including the new Martha Stewart line of craft supplies to buy that are outrageously over priced. I like Hobby Lobby a lot better.
