Coffee is actually pretty disappointing; I feel like they used to be better two years ago. They have several vegan and gluten-free options for snacks if those are dietary concerns. Space inside is really pretty small and cramped — even to fill up with milk and sugar. They have also changed their name to Saints, not sure why.

I’m not sure when but Red Lion Coffee switched it’s name to City of Saints Coffee, and from what I understand it’s still the same shop, staff and coffee. This is a very nice local Uptown coffee spot, however, it is quite expensive, and the prices are comparative to that of NYC. They do have a ton of variety though when it comes to coffee, beans and tea, and like some other Unilocalers have stated, the the drinks are refreshingly bold in flavor. I did not have a cup of coffee when I visited a few months back, so this review is solely based on my order, but I did get the iced vanilla chai latte that many people on Foursquare suggested and it did not disappoint. Unfortunately it was $ 4.50. It’s a small counter-like space but the service goes quickly to avoid any congestion. There a few different pastry and morning snack options at the counter, as well. Overall, good products and service but it comes at a cost.

I love coffee and I want to like this place because the location is great for me but I’m consistently disappointed. The coffee has a horrible taste even giving me a stomach ache

My favorite place for coffee. Service is great and these guys take their coffee/lattes seriously. Prices are about in line with starbucks, but a much better product. Although there are closer options I keep coming back.

I’ve been a patron of Red Lion since it opened and have to say it’s been a consistently great experience. They have something for everyone. If you’re looking for coffee they have an awesome variety of beans from around the world and better yet know how to brew each one correctly! The cold brew is amazingly refreshing, and the espresso drinks don’t disappoint, especially the seasonal specials(more flavor and less sugar!). Almond and soy milk are always available. They also have a ton of treats and I especially enjoy the Cheese and Wine sandwiches, which are so fresh and delicious and also affordable! One day my boyfriend and I decided to take a fall road trip up the Hudson and we were set all day with our sandwiches and lattes. What really seals the experience though is the service. The baristas are calm, attentive, and friendly, and always remember my order and my name. Nicely located near the bridge and the ferry for easy grab and go. This is THE place for coffee in Hoboken!

A great little coffee shop. Not much room for sitting or staying in, but the brews are great for taking on a walk. Drinks are hand crafted with excellence and the time taken ensures they are great. The amazing iced latte is perfect for a hot day and the pressed coffee was perfect as well. Some of the best coffee in Hoboken.

This review is long overdue. I am a regular, as in every day, customer of Red Lion. It’s a happy part of my routine and for good reason. Red Lion is without a doubt the best coffee in Hoboken. Full-flavored but never bitter and always well brewed. Sure, you’re not going to hang out there all day given its size, but you’ll still find a neighborhood vibe here. And again, if you want the best coffee in town, this is the place to go. The staff is friendly and efficient and just cool – basically the kind of people you want to see first thing in the morning. My kids always feel welcome too. The iced coffee is killer, but everything I’ve tried has been good. Red Lion gets extra points for working with local food vendors – Balthazar, Schnackenberg’s, Hoboken Cheese & Wine, vegan and gluten-free bakers from Hoboken and Jersey City. They are always trying new things and staying informed of coffee trends, without being snooty about it. They get to know their regular customers, and really listen to customer feedback. If you haven’t tried Red Lion, check it out.

The place is super tiny but their coffee selection is the best in the area.

Great local spot for coffee. I usually stop here before heading to the gym and grab a regular or iced latte. The coffee is a bit stronger then sbux and has a bolder taste which i like a lot. The service is great and on point. Will continue to come here because they have a non chain vibe. reminds me of a coffee shop that I go to in Toronto.

Red Lion is amazing! The staff is wonderful and friendly, always chats you up and gives you a small neighborhood coffee shop vibe vs a chain. I personally stop in 1 – 2 a day for either their Lemonade, Iced Latte or their regular Latte. And it’s always made just the way I like! They also have a rewards system if you enter your email, after 10 purchases your 11th is free which is always a nice thing when you frequent a spot. Highly recommended and would say to try the Lattes(iced or hot)

A great little coffee shop with super friendly staff. The menu is simple but has all the basics as well as some interesting specials that change every week. They have some pastries they bring in from somewhere in NY, but that’s about it in terms of food. Their house blend coffee is a bit too bold/strong for my taste, so I usually go for the espresso drinks with milk. Mostly great because they’re in a convenient location with little competition in the area.

Solid coffee joint, but SO expensive! If I came here every morning I would be broke! Décor is cool though. A small place with just a bar. They offer two types of iced coffee. The regular(brewed hot and then cooled) for something like $ 3.40 and the slow drip(brewed cold for 12 hours) for about $ 4.00. Intriguing, but still minus one star for the prices.

Now I have an uptown coffee shop! No glitz. No glam. Just a counter. Immediately greeted w/a warm smile on a very cold day. Super friendly service. The coffee was pretty good, although quite pricey. Added bonus: they carry gluten free/vegan goodies.

A welcome addition to this part of town, which is severely lacking of any coffee, much less the good stuff. There’s not much to say other than they know how to make a great cup, have selected some excellent beans, have an excellent attention to detail and are usually very friendly. The only downside is probably that it’s minuscule in size and it would be nice to have a place to hang out and chill… but for a coffee to go, it’s an excellent choice. Also, they are credit credit-card friendly. Yay! Biggest surprise: Their vegan chocolate pudding, made with avocados. I’m not a vegan, nor am I an avocado fan, but you wouldn’t have a clue there was an avocado in there.

I can’t figure out what people like so much about this place. It’s a bit over priced and the coffee really isn’t anything special. It’s super tiny, with options that are very limited compared to some of the other awesome coffee shops in Hoboken. The staff was really friendly, though.

My favorite coffee place in Hoboken! Their coffee is awesome. It actually tastes like coffee. No watered down coffee drinks(cough Starbucks cough!). I usually get a Vanilla Café Americano, hot or iced depending on the weather. So yummy! Their selection of pastries and goodies is also unbeatable. I recommend the almond croissant or a butter scone. The staff is super friendly too. They are genuinely interested in their customers and are quite conversational. They’re the best. They even have a digital punchcard and coupon app for phones called LoyaltyBlocks that you can use to redeem free drinks. This place is the tops!

I am crippled considering Red Lion opened down the street from me. It is SUCHGOODCOFFEE but SOEXPENSIVE! Well, ok. It’s like Starbucks prices. $ 2.50 ish for a small coffee, or «little» as their lingo goes. But it’s SUCHGOODCOFFEE. Their hot is better than their iced. A good medium roast. The best part are the fancy drinks– I got a little soy latte(for $ 5 no less) that was so delicious. Never tried the pasties, but this is one good, cute, local coffee joint. The people are very nice too. They have nice patio seating and props to anyone who uses Square to check out. I’m a fan. Staff is super friendly too.

As an update: they’ve recently added outdoor seating, which is perfect for this time of year. It’s on the shady, north-facing side of a tree-lined street, so even in summer it’ll be a comfortable place to relax. Also, by now I’ve sampled enough of their pastries to say they’re really good, and definitely fresher than the ones you’d get at S***bucks. More like homemade than factory-made. So that wins them the fifth and final star! Good job, Red Lion!

The set up is takeout only but I read via twitter they will be getting some outside sidewalk seating soon. The interior wood lined walls makes you wish they had inside seating space as its rustic sexiness makes you wanna stay to enjoy your cup of Kobricks coffee. They have a nice spread of baked goods outsourced from local bakeries. I even spotted a bacon-cookie concoction. YumZ. Big time bonus for carrying Red Jacket juices. The gents working on the Saturday morning I strutted in were efficient and friendly. Also, very easy on the eyes. They take cards(there is a god!) and don’t forget to leave a buck for them in the tip jar. Totally out of my way on my commute to work(I work in between 2nd and 3rd on Washington) but if weather permits, I’ll be getting off bus 8911 blocks early and enjoying my americano on a leisurely stroll down Bloomfield to work more often. Welcome to the neighborhood Red Lion. Raaawwrrrr.

OK, usually I max out at 4 stars for coffee shop reviews, but I’m giving the extra star for the niceness of the guys working at Red Lion. When staff/management are super enthusiastic about their business, it makes me want to support them. As for the product, Red Lion has the good stuff. The coffee is fresh and delicious. The pastries are from the upscale Balthazar and clearly a notch above typical coffee shop fare. Latte and Capucino are available as well if that’s your preference. This coffee shop is small, and more of a ‘to go’ set up, but I was told that outdoor seating will be coming soon. Today there was a happy hour special on pastry, which is cool because these are the types of things coffee shops that are not the big chains can do to reward their customers. I like Red Lion. I wish them much success.
