Very bad experience! Stayed for one whole week, will never stay again. The first room they gave us, which was«non smoking» smelled as though someone had just smoked a pack of cigarettes in it. The second room smelled less smokey, but still not clean. The elevator always reeked of cigarettes or very strong cleaning chemicals. The lobby gets vacuumed at 10:45 pm every night, which we could hear the loud vacuum from our room. The room did not look as nice as the pictures online. Not very modern or clean. With the very uncomfortable pull out couch extended, there was no room to walk around or use the chair in the living room area. The hot water in the shower hardly lasted the whole shower, I had to keep turning it hotter as it ran out of hot water, every time I showered. The smoking area for the hotel is right outside the front door on a porch type area, so non smokers get to walk though smoke to enter the hotel. Paper thin walls and creaky floors above us, did not allow for restful sleep. While we were staying there, there was a children’s soccer team also staying on the same level, they would run up and down the halls, playing soccer, playing on the elevator riding up and down while yelling late into the night. If you like smell of stale cigarette smoke and cleaning chemicals, thin walls and old dirty rooms, this is your place! This hotel desperately needs a remodel and a non-smoking policy. We are now staying at a much nicer hotel across town, for less $ while we are in town.

My friends and I stayed at this hotel for a wedding weekend and were overall disappointed. Non-smoking rooms reeked of smoke and several of us had cigarette burns in the bedding. There was no fridge/microwave when requested at booking, and two of our friends’ rooms got cancelled because of a «computer glitch» so they had to go through the whole process when we arrived. Good thing they weren’t booked up. I would not consider our group to be «hotel snobs» in the slightest, but this place doesn’t warrant the 4+ star review it currently holds. Maybe Hiram doesn’t have a lot of competition so this is standard, but I recommend staying elsewhere if you ever find yourself needing a room in this town.

I’ve stayed at several Country Inn & Suites locations, so pretty much know what to expect and also realize I am staying at a budget level establishment. The check-in staff was courteous and welcoming, although absent when I arrived. I finally decided(after about 5 minutes) to call the hotel and that caused them to appear from somewhere. The first room we were sent to had a nasty plumbing issue with visible remains that could not be flushed. I called the desk. They arrived quickly to escort us to a new room. The room was fine. The bed was comfortable and the linen seemed fresh. The furnishings(chairs most noticeably) were worn and dinghy. It was noisy. The first night there were dogs barking in a near by room. The second night there was footstep noise until nearly 2AM(above us). I have stayed in other Country Inn & Suites and not noticed nearly that much noise, so perhaps this one has some issues. Overall, this is a fairly old and somewhat worn out location. Oh, and from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning they didn’t have cookies available a single time I traveled through the lobby, even though they said they would.

Short and sweet(well, not so sweet)… There’s only a handful of hotel/motel options in the Hiram area, and frankly, I’m not sure why there are any. I mean, there’s nothing there except lots of chain retail stores and restaurants. You’re 25+ miles from the City, there are much closer options to Six Flags, and there are no convention or other recreational facilities in the immediate area. Still, a few places thrive here apparently, and even command an average of nearly $ 90.00 per room for a standard room, too(!) I had to spend a couple of nights in a hotel locally because the roommate was having family visit him and I don’t like crowds, so picked a local hotel to spend the time in. Country Inns have always had a decent reputation, and with a location just up the road in Hiram, I thought I’d spend my money there. The front desk staff(1 person) was young but friendly enough, and check-in was quick. Upon entering my room, I noticed more and more things as the evening progressed, however. The teenie-tiny tub had a hair in it, and the shower curtain rod had rust. Tiny mold spots dotted the bathroom ceiling tile, the light fixture was cracked on one end, and the hair dryer had hairs on it. The floor and toilet were clean(I guess) but I really had to question the housekeeping. The mini-suite I got or the night had a living room area but I decided not to sit on the sofa or chair to watch TV — as both were very worn out, and just looked dirty, as though they were bought at a yard sale and just tossed into the room. Went over to get the ice bucket to get some ice — there was a hair in it. Time for bed. The bed sheets looked/smelled clean, though thankfully I didn’t bring a UV light to test this theory at this point. As I was laying down, I noticed the bedside lamp bulb was burned out. I replaced it with another bulb from another light and discovered what appeared to be dried body fluid on the WALL, next to the bed. Ok, so at this point you’re probably asking why the hell I had stayed in that room that long, much less actually spent the night in there? I can’t answer that. Maybe I was bummed by having to leave the house on very short notice to make room for the roommate’s relatives. Maybe my sugar was low and I was delusional. But I just gritted my teeth, connected to their wireless internet(which yes, did work), and surfed online until I fell asleep… which took a while because the walls were so thin I could hear the occupants in the next room talking(in a normal tone of voice) and pretty much make out every word they were saying. I learned more about fertility clinics that night than I EVER wanted to know. The next morning I asked for a manager and when they arrived, I showed them the photos I took of the problem and nicely went over EVERYTHING. They seemed very concerned about my findings. They offered me a free night(I was supposed to spend two), and took me to another room so I could look at it before switching. Well, within a minute in that room I saw hairs in the jacuzzi tub, and saw a broken appliance in the web bar area, as well as a weird stain on the carpet. I declined their offer and they simply comped my first night there and we called it even. I wondered if I had an isolated incident, but upon telling my story on a local chat board, I found that a few other people who lived locally had relatives who stayed at this Country Inn while visiting, and they all had similar complaints about the cleanliness. So sorry to write a «no no» review, but I would never recommend this place for traveler or local who needs a place for the night. There are other options in the area now so explore those if you need a place in/near Hiram.
