Still love this place. When it’s quiet the staff are polite and friendly with everyone, kids too. When it’s crowded they’re as efficient as they can be. When the live music is on, bring earplugs and forget about talking. I’ve had just about every sandwich they make — all good. I usually go for the special now. If only my pint weren’t 7 bucks I’d come more regularly. But it’s Hingham.

Simple pub style food done well. The Snug, was as the name suggests, snug. Tables are close enough that I could pick off the plate of the neighboring two top. Self proclaimed home of the perfect Guinness pour, we happily obliged with a pint. We had the pretzels with Guinness mustard sauce. The sauce was potent, heavy on the mustard seeds, and onto trace of beer was effectively masked. I had the Cape Cod reuben and the boy had the sirloin tips. The sandwich was fried haddock with Swiss cheese, Russian dressing and coleslaw on a bulkie roll. Sirloin tips were cooked to temperature, nicely charred in a flavorful marinade. Portions were plentiful and we found the table next to ours throwing in the towel early to save room for dessert. Solid choice for an easy night out. We’ll be back!

The Snug is just that. A snug, comfortable, small, cozy space that makes you feel like you haven’t ventured further than your living room. Yellow walls covered in plaques and awards, small screens tucked into the corners showing the requisite sporting events, and piped in Sinatra on a Sunday… the first thing my husband said was, «this will be a great spot to come in the winter.» Amen to that. The Snug also features a surprising craft beer list on a European draft system(Taffer would be proud). You could tell the pours were going to be at the correct temperature just by looking at the slight frost on the draft tower. Not just your typical Guiness here(though if that’s what you’re looking for, they have their Gold Standard Award from Guiness!). We started with a special — the Patriots Pick: fries, mini tacos and jalapeño mozzarella sticks. Truth be told, we just wanted to try those jalapeño mozz sticks! They were good, but not something we’d order again. It was pure novelty that particular order… so now we can say we tried it. My husband ordered the Turkey BLT wrap and sweet potato fries and I ordered the Traditional Turkey Club. Both were awesome. And the sweet potato fries were excellent. We agreed that, based on lunch alone, we would be coming back to try other items off the menu. The food was made very well, the service was excellent, plus the prices aren’t outrageous and with the selection of beers on tap… The Snug is going to be a staple in our local restaurant rotation.

The corned beef was slightly chewy, but not enough for me to not give them a Four. I saw several other dishes going by that I would try next time. They pride themselves in pouring perfect pints and have several good draft choices. Funky ambience with folks from Jerusalem Road living in million dollar homes driving here in an Escalade sipping a Guiness, while gnawing on a ten dollar sandwich, next to Quincy peasants such as myself. One gets to negotiate rolling heaving floors on the way to the single person bathrooms.

The Snug is one of my favorite Irish pubs around here. The steak tips are completely worth all the awards they have gotten, and my boyfriend gets them every time. I have tried something different each visit and have been decently happy but not ecstatic with everything I have ordered — the hot dogs, the salads, the lobster roll, and the chicken pot pie were all consistently good quality, although not mindblowingly original(which I guess you wouldn’t expect from pub food to begin with). The beer selection is excellent for those who are into craft beers and it changes often, which is great. Atmospherewise it’s very homey and comfortable, so if you want a good night out in an Irish pub with good quality pubfood this is the place to visit. Be aware though — it’s tiny so at busier times it’s hard to find a seat!

Good food and cold beer with a great selection. Small place. Try the steak tips or fish and chips. Good music and fun.

Great Irish pub with yummy pub food. I love the steak tips! Monday night there is traditional Irish music. A fun spot to grab a few beers or enjoy dinner. Family friendly and reasonable.

Charming Irish pub with a nice, small craft beer menu and a diverse menu of good wholesome food. Place is cozy and the waitresses have to squeeze by to get around the dining area. But this is a nice little place where the patrons and staff are personable. It’s rare that I’m in any bar where I actually have casual conversation with anyone, and the Snug is an exception. This place fills up quick but I think it’s a very decent place worth visiting. I’ve been here twice and both times, remain impressed, even if it has a tiny bathroom. I can honestly recommend the Guinness beef stew, which comes with a small buttermilk biscuit. It’s only like 8 bucks and it’s a tasty meal in itself. Street parking only.

Best Reuben I have ever had, but the fries were lacking. Cute, cozy atmosphere, and sometimes there is live Irish music!

Very small! I went with a group of six friends on a Friday night. There is only one table that can fit that many people. We sat at a table for 5 and then got an extra chair for our other friend. But the beer is great, the atmosphere is great for a little hole in the wall place. There was entertainment when we went, which started at 930p. It was so loud that either you listen to the music or nothing at all. We would end up yelling at each other to have a conversation. But all and all its a nice place to get some drinks and food, the steak tips were very yummy!

I’ve been coming here off/on for the last 10 years, it’s always been good. Tonight my hubs and I went for an early dinner w/the minions. We ordered the buffalo chicken wings extra crispy. Only half were crispy — I guess that saved us from devouring them b/c the crispy ones were good. I ordered the fish sandwich and it was very good — fried perfectly and it wasn’t heavy or greasy. Only draw back — I like more than one measly piece of lettuce on my sandwiches and had to ask for more. The tartar sauce was lacking in relish and kind of runny. My husband had the cheeseburger club — and became part of the clean plate club. My 8 year old ordered the meatloaf — it’s a huge portion, he took a few bites and was done but he shared and let us try it — it was good. My 4 year old had a grilled cheese — it’s hard to screw that up. Overall — I wish they had a french onion soup on the menu — it’s cozy in there and makes me want french onion soup but they don’t have it on the menu. The salads are sparse in veggies — lots o’lettuce(that must be why they skimped on my sandwich!) but too few on the veg.

I have been here multiple times. The Pros: If your looking for a good hole in the wall Irish Pub thats not a dive then you found it. The beer selection is great and they rotate it often. Live music on occasion. Food is better than average pub food but nothing to right home about. Service is generally pretty decent as long as its not very busy. The cons: TV is quite small but really no place to put it. The pub itself is somewhat small so if it is busy your waiting for a table, or the bar is crowded.

This is one of my all-time favorite restaurants that I’ve found. The ambiance is perfect with the old wooden bar and beams. The music is fantastic on live Irish music nights, I could sit there for hours. The Guinness on draft is wonderful and I’ve never had a bad meal there. The only thing to be wary of is that it’s not large and it fills up fast, you might want to go on a weeknight.

I’ve been several times, but tonight I actually got a seat and ordered food. I ordered a corned beef sandwich with a side of ratatouille. I’ve never had ratatouille, and if it weren’t for an animated movie by the same name I wouldn’t know what it is. As for corned beef sandwiches, I might be a virgin there too. But for some reason this odd combo sounded good. Thankfully it was! The Snug has great peasant food. I also tried my friend’s steak tips along with a solitary fry, and both were up to snuff. In fact, the tips were very tender. The Pretzel app was OK — nothing special. Same goes for the clam chowder. It could use more flavor. Of course, the Guinness was just right. It is a cool little bar though! I’ll be back.

This place is aptly named. The bar itself is very handsome, and the area near it is neither so large as to feel cavernous nor so small as to feel cramped. It is, well, snug — very cozy, and conducive to conversation. There are many fine beers on tap, from pale ales and IPAs to brown ales and wheat beers. Something for every palate, both domestic and imported. The dining/seating area is comfortable as well, and while I have not yet eaten here, the atmosphere is great for watching live music on the weekend. All in all, exactly what an Irish pub should look and feel like. Go.

We stopped by while looking at an open house in the area for lunch. It has a very warm atmosphere as most Irish pub restaurants do. It’s pretty small. They actually seemed to have a good amount of awards on the wall. The staff was friendly and attentive. I took some Unilocal advice and got the Shepards Pie. It was excellent. Not too runny, not thick. Taste was great. I highly recommend it unless your looking for something light. My fiancé got the Snug salad with turkey tips. She enjoyed it. Not too expensive. I would recommend!

This had a great pub atmosphere. The food is good and the staff pay attention to what customers may need. Especially welcome was their authentic Irish music. Very experienced local residents and younger players participate in producing a live music experience which is not common anywhere else nearby. The furnishings fit the pub atmosphere. As a downtown Hingham pub, The Snug provides a great experience.

Ever pay for a beer in someone’s living room? Drink at The Snug and that’s what it’ll feel like. Plaques claiming Boston’s Best 2010 and Home of the Perfect Pour(courtesy of the Guinness Elite) hang from walls, much as family portraits do in Nana’s crib. Maybe ten tables — mostly two-tops — center in a single room, with a short bar running along the right and a mini sound board for when live musicians invade the space. But I swear to the Norse gods of Ikea, it’s a friggin’ living room. The kitchen kicks pub grub up a notch with a perfect fry coating a heaping helping of shrimp, haddock and onion rings(The Seafood Combo, $ 16.95). Frosty Wachusett seasonals rang in at a reasonable $ 5.50 and our gracefully attentive server had us wanting for nothing. They might have two CRT tellies in hidden corners, but you won’t be hearin’ the game over Gaelic tunes that remind you The Perfect Pour means Guinness and Guinness means, well, you know. Regardless, The Snug is immediately comfortable, heartily satisfying and completely repeatable.
