I went to this restaurant earlier today and had one of the best services I’ve had in awhile. The people at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. They carefully took my order, and helped me in every possible way to complete my take out order, because they had so many different types of food on the menu, i had a hard time making up my mind. The atmosphere in there was great, they had the karaōke going and the delicious food smell in the restaurant was attempting and addicting at the same time. Last but not least the take out food was heavenly, i ordered five star shrimp sesame beef, new wave maki and celtics maki, boy oh boy they were all so delicious. i strongly suggest this restaurant and i will definitely go back again!

We got there right as it was opening so maybe they weren’t quite prepared for customers yet, but this was the worst Chinese food my mom and I have ever had. The service was so-so(my soup came out about 15 minutes after my mom’s did without an apology or explain), my fried rice was gummy with almost no meat in it, and my mom’s egg roll was served in a pool of grease. All the other food(soup, beef teriyaki, short ribs) was either just ok or bad. We ended up having to eat again somewhere else because neither of us ate much.

May I recind my previous review? I have been here numerous times since the above date. Tonight was my last night. I have never in my entire life had such horrendous service. 5 in our party. We all order drinks and a water each. We were served and then the waiter came back to take our order. We all ordered. Pretty prompt with the food. We finished eating and not ONCE did our server return to ask if we wanted anything while we ate. He never checked on us to see if we wanted anything more. We all wanted another cocktail but he was nowhere to be found. 35 minutes later, after we were done eating, I finally got up, went to the hostess stand and asked to speak to the manager. I was told that she was out in the restaurant somewhere if I wanted to find her. I was LIVID!!! I DEMANDEDMYCHECK!!! Still no sign of our waiter. We left our food that we wanted boxed up on the table. Needless to say, first time in my entire life I left a 0 tip. TIPS = TOINSUREPROMPTSERVICE… LOOKITUP… It’s an acronym, not an actual word!!! I SHALLNEVERRETURN!!!

There was still a feather in my chicken wing(see pic posted). Gross. And this was after the food took over an hour to be delivered and was barely warm. I’m giving this two stars because I generally have good experiences with this place, but I will never be back.

Never order the buffet here. Barely any options and hardly any food. The food was cold, didn’t taste fresh and was not made fast enough to replenish the buffet. Most disappointing buffet ever. Not worth the 10.99. Mind you this was 12:30 in the afternoon and the restaurant had just opened for an hour. There is no reason why the buffet was this bad.

I went to the other GG restaurant in Canton and I would personally prefer this branch. 1. This is a better choice for people at south shore(Quincy & Braintree), as I-93 and I-95 area can be trafficky. There are not that many Asian restaurant in the area. 2. Fresh veggie, good quality rice and decorated dishes 3. Portions are generally great, not sure about seafood I would definitely come back. I think the location is not great so there are not many people who would visit a restaurant at this location, but it’s worth the visit for any one who wants to try quality Chinese/Japanese food.

Surprised to see so many bad reviews. My family’s been going to Gourmet Garden for years and have always had consistently fresh, hot, flavorful food always served with smiles. I also like that they offer brown rice instead of white in their fried rice and that they have organic choices on the menu. Everything seems to be made with care and always tastes great. I guess a few of the bad reviews are dated from around New Year’s, but who expects high quality on the busiest night of their year? That said, my family always gets Gourmet Garden on New Year’s and have never had any complaints. If you dine in, they give you a complimentary desert of vanilla ice cream sprinkled with some kind of flaked cereal along with the standard fortune cookies. The only gripes I could have is, as others have mentioned, the tv in the bar is really loud and can be heard throughout the dining area and for some reason the restaurant does occasionally attract some loud drunk low-lives, but I guess that’s par for the course in Chinese restaurants. And the prices are a bit high, but great place all around. I do miss the old cool tiki vibe of Chinese restaurants though, like the old Aloha that used to be up the street… but what Gourmet Garden lacks in kitsch, they make up for in quality food.

Wow!!! Amazing Thai ribs. Awesome service and décor. Yin yang spicy beef. Salt and pepper shrimp! Pork Fried rice. Scorpion bowl! I’d give all 5 stars if the prices were a bit lower. Love this place.

Service was excellent – Food was OK – Portion sizes were small – Atmosphere wasn’t pleasant with no background music – only the sounds of sports from the bar TVs — Restaurant was completely empty except for one table and we were seated RIGHTNEXTTOTHEM – they were LOUD and vulgar — Primarily due to the careless, thoughtless seating, we were thoroughly disappointed with the entire dining experience. Based on this experience, we would never go back or recommend this place.

As we shoveled 24 buildings in Hanover my staff worked up quite an appetite. These guys took on the feed like my guys shovel snow off roofs! Fast and well! Not the cheapest endeavor, but what about feeding twenty of the best roofers in New England would be! So good was the food and so precise was the service we ordered again the today! Why 3 stars? Place looks good from the outside, inside is ok just typical look to a Chinese-American restaurant. Service is great. The food however is just blah… If it isn’t oily, it’s tasteless and just boring. Another resto fail in the south shore. I’m probably just spoiled with places I used to go to. Usually in Boston and in California where I grew up. The place and the service is 4 star and their food is 1.5 I can make better food than this just saying.

Went here last week to sit at the bar and order take out to go. Have been here many times and never disappointed. This is my favorite Chinese food in the South Shore. Food; fresh, organic, and even tastes great the next day for left overs!(Can’t usually say that for Chinese food). When you sit down to eat you receive a free vanilla ice cream with corn flakes on it.(who doesn’t like free ice cream?!) Service; always friendly and accurate. Every time you order over the phone it is 15 minutes.

«Chad’s Eats» review of Gourmet Garden Cuisine: Asian, Sushi Location: Hingham, MA Parking: Ample free parking /designated parking lot Décor /Ambiance: Semi modern. On the elegant /upscale side compared to places such as Gourmet Oriental in Weymouth(dive). In fact Gourmet Oriental can’t even sit at the same table as Gourmet Garden. They are two completely different class of restaurants. No keno and karaōke at Gourmet Garden, it’s all about the food here. Nice bar. Nice little sushi bar to the left as you walk in. Greeting: If you go there when it’s busy is usually an onslaught of takeout going on but in general your sat rather quickly. I went there to pick up take out one time on a busy Friday night and unfortunately my wife called the order into the wrong location. I put my order in and sat there for a while until it was completed. I couldn’t help but think that it seemed like the stock market at the front desk, folks trying to Get their take-out and other folks coming in looking to get sat. My wife and I usually go for lunch on Saturdays or Sundays and sadly it’s pretty slow so were sat immediately. The staff are very friendly Menu mix: The menu has a lot of your standards but so much of it is creative Asian cuisine. The sushi is what draws my wife and I here. They have a lot of unique specialties here as well. They are listed on the menu as «must try». I like the way the menu is laid out because it breaks it down into sections. Water /Bread service: No bread here, water is a little bit bleachy. We’re all about the hot tea though Drink pour: We haven’t had drinks here so I am unable to comment on the generosity or lack there of on their drink pours Food quality: As I mentioned previously my wife and I come here mainly for the sushi. Hands-down I believe it is the best sushi you’re going to find in the South Shore area. It is never a disappointment, and it is always a grand presentation. There is also a big emphasis on healthier options. They got the best house fried rice I have ever had it’s unlike any other place. Service: Pleasant prompt and very accommodating. Often when we get our check we end up getting a special dessert of vanilla ice cream rolled and cornflakes. It’s one of those things you don’t really want, you take a bite, the next thing you know you’re scraping the plate clean. I think this is very generous and a nice touch to present the bill. It doesn’t happen all the time and in fact sometimes we tell them not to do it because we are on our way to go hiking or mountain biking. Value: You pay a little more than your standard Asian restaurant but once you see the food quality it’s certainly warranted. I think the value is great Bathrooms: Clean and well-maintained Would I return? We always do and it’s because of the sushi! Comments & Tips: If you are ordering takeout on a busy night and getting sushi you may expect to wait a little bit longer but believe me it is worth it

I ordered through grubhub. All of the food was cold. The rice was not rice, it was something else. I will contact grubhub to see if I can get a refund but I am very disappointed in the quality of food. Everything tasted like it had been sitting for a while and just refried when the order came in, nothing tasted fresh.

I order from this restaurant once a month. In addition, on New Year’s Eve each year. They are extremely accommodating for my son’s food allergies and menu alterations so he can have a normal meal. Today I called to order for tonight. A busy day, I know, but one of the only places my son can eat. It was 1030 am and I placed an order for 8 pm pick up. I told them about his dairy allergy and ordered a gluten free entrée for a friend. They told me they couldn’t accommodate any allergies today. Gluten free entrées on the menu wouldn’t be guaranteed today. I asked if there was any way to get food for tonight as we have been accommodated for food allergies here multiple times. I said, «I’m not sure what to do, we count on ordering from you guys on New Year’s Eve every year. This is really inconvenient. I can pay extra, pick up before it gets busy, anything.» A woman who later told me she’s the manager, and the only person I could talk to, told me, «that’s not my problem!» I appreciate that it’s a busy night. I understand the inability to accommodate and appreciate the heads up about not being able to guarantee the safety. I do not, however, appreciate the lack of respect and tone of voice with which I was handled. This woman was COMPLETELY out of line. I cannot and will not patronize a business that cares so little about their customers that they would yell at someone like that. I’m done. Thanks for the food and all the wonderful memories. I definitely won’t be recommending you anymore.

I went here with a large group — maybe 15 of us. I know that orders can get confusing with such a large party — esp. when some of us are asking for individual bills. But even before anything got confusing, when we were just ordering food, our waitress became quick-tempered, easily flustered and had a horrible attitude. I am hoping it wasn’t because of the fact that most of our group were black folks, but I’ve never witnessed a waiter/waitress so openly rude to their customers for no reason. I ordered a chinese version of pad thai there and it was… well, a chinese version of pad thai… kinda greasy and kinda salty. I sampled some of the other dishes that were ordered, but I wasn’t too impressed. There were other waiters there who were really nice and treated us respectfully. Unfortunately, we just got stuck with a chick who was having a bad night, who I was expecting to be screaming racial slurs by the end of the night.

We went there last week and could not believe how good it is! The sushi was outstanding and service was great. I have been to other Gourmet Garden restaurants and they are all consistently good. This is not a typical old school Chinese restaurant. The dining room is clean and bright. I loved the Sushi and my wife ordered Chinese. The Peking Ravioli was especially tasty. I will be back! Gene

I have read all the above comments and I have my own to add: On 9÷4÷14 my girlfriend and I ordered almost sixty Dollars worth of Japanese and Chinese food. We both ended up with severe cramps and diarrhea all night long and when I called them(multiple messages later) to speak with the manager, the first thing she said was«ummm, nobody else got sick on that day!» No apologies and straight to denial. I wasn’t calling to get my money back but to register a complaint and a heads up on possibly tainted food. All she could say was well what do you want me to do for you!!! Obviously these people don’t care about their customers health. She said she would give me a discount next time I come to her restaurant when I told her I would write this incident up on Unilocal. I should report them to the city… Hmmm

So let me start by saying that the 2 stars is because of the service and not so much because of the food. I’ve been to the sister restaurant in Canton. and I enjoyed it a lot more because they actually treated me like a human being… A friend and I came here because I was staying a couple of nights in Hingham and we had a Groupon… I simply asked our waiter«would you mind taking my voucher now just in case my phone dies» he replied with«Just.use.another.time then»… umm excuse me? needless to say he took my god darn Groupon. He was the worst waiter ever… I have a laundry list of complaints. I never felt so uncomfortable at an establishment before. It was like he was annoyed by our presence… We ordered sushi, ginger beef, and shrimp basil rice… Our dinner came out and they made the wrong thing… he didn’t even apologize he just grabbed it and plopped it on the table when it was fixed. We probably shouldn’t of eaten there but we were so hungry! Long story short… food was decent but I won’t come back because my waiter was out of control rude and lacked serious customer service skills.
