I’m sorry, but a filet mignon does not have gristle and fat. Nope. Tonight, I ordered a filet mignon, but I have NEVER had a filet mignon served with a gigantic chunk of fat and gristle, until tonight. The company was awesome, as always. Also, servers should make something up when asked about a wine or a plate. I mean, at least LOVE the most expensive plate, right? NEVER respond«I don’t know.» and leave it there!

We were in Hingham on a windy and snowy Friday evening and called around to find a place that didn’t have a long wait, which led us to Café Tosca. This restaurant promotes itself as the comfort food version of Tosca, its more upscale sibling just across the street. When we arrived we were seated right away. The room was lively and cozy without being too crowded and the menu seemed promising. We ordered some wine by the glass and found the selections to be completely uninspired — Café Tosca should take a suggestion or two from across the street. Excellent bread served with a small dish of warm marinara sauce was a nice touch. The winter salad was excellent, though from the description in the menu we expected something other than what they brought us(we checked with our server and they did bring us the right dish). We each chose entrees that featured house-made pasta, orecchiette with kale, tomatoes and white beans and pappardelle with meatballs and sauce. These were satisifying, but not wow! material either. I would also note that the pappardelle looked more like linguine and that the strands might have benefited from another trip through the pasta rolling machine. We had a couple of miscommunications during the service and I mentioned the dishes that didn’t match their descriptions; with Red Sox spring training in the news I couldn’t help thinking that this is the farm team — though they charged us major league prices.

This place always consistently has good food. It is the more casual, lower priced sister to Tosca. Outside seating is great in the spring/summer. Pizza is always great, half portions are more than enough for a full serving. Fun atmosphere.

Calamari breading was stiff & tasteless. Wouldn’t be surprised if it were pre-packaged and previously frozen. Eggplant parm, should be re-labeled as «eggplant soup». Disgusting.

First time there and it was absolutely delicious! Don’t each too much of the bread and perfect marinara sauce it will fill you up before the best yet to come! The shrimp scampi was out of this world! Lots of shrimp! The generous portion of pumpkin ravioli was the best I’ve had ! Wonderful sauce with pieces of pumpkin and beautiful presentation. The Margherita pizza was very tasty and huge! Dessert was heavenly a large portion of tiramisu you will need to share or not :). Service was wonderful by Christina! Very attentive and friendly. It is a bit loud when the bar area is full — but it is a great restaurant and looking forward to returning very soon!

WOW! I was sooooo looking forward to some Bolognese from an established, well received restaurant, so I called in an order and a pizza. The pizza was good, but my husband and I were VERY disappointed with the pasta. Edible… yes. Bolognese… no. Not even close! Clumps of hamburger in a rich cheese sauce that palled in comparison to any Bolognese that I’ve ever eaten. Shame on you Tosca café. Please, please… don’t order this dish from this restaurant!

This is one of the few restaurants that I always like everything on the menu. The only problem I have is picking out which entrée to eat. I am never disappointed. I also Love that you can dine outside during the summer.

Everything I have ever eaten here has been delicious. Fried oysters were fresh and crisp. Pizza is flatbread style and very tasty. The pasta is cooked perfectly and their sauces are rich and flavorful. Beet salad was scrumptious! Prices are reflective of higher quality ingredients and preparation, but still affordable as a «special» place once in a while. Service in the past has been slightly aloof, but thankfully our last experience was much warmer. Monique was friendly AND efficient. The only drawback(which the owners need to address) is the noise level; when the room is full it’s difficult to hear the person next to you, nearly impossible to hear anyone else in your party. Otherwise eating here is a real treat!

Started very well with one of the best tomato sauce dip I ever had. The crispy fried oyster laying on top of a potato salad was really good. While they didn’t have veal Parm, they were able to customize an order, it was huge and was really good. The steak was ok little over cooked, but the the side of the mushroom risotto was really perfect

Chicken under a Brick! Amazing! Really great desserts too — you could just go there for a fancy dessert night if you wanted to! Date night — ladies night– special occasion — this is one of the best restaurants on the south shore!

Service is terrible. We sat next to the service bar and a rude bald man– who ended up being the owner– was being extremely loud and discourteous to his employees and the atmosphere. When confronted he was even ruder. Maybe his three martinis were a bit excessive. There are many better places to eat at in and around town. Avoid stars, tosca, caffe tosca– non are worth the experience. Aside from the owner– the bar tender was negligent

A really great casual resturant with amazing food. The service is impecible(and in fact the server recognized us even when we had not been there for a few months). A recommendation with regards to the pasta dishes. Order the small plate with is more than a meal. Great for a family style share. They serve an a really good tomato based dipping sauce for the bread. So good. Would recommend it to anyone in the area.

Last time we went Caffe Tosca was great, excellent food and service. Service was good this time but ordered Chicken Parmigiano, which was very spicy without any mention of spice on menu. I asked the server about the spices, she said many patrons ask for no spice. This was not helpful to me. There was no offer to fix the problem. Choose your dishes very carefully.

A lovely venue, we sat on the patio. Super attentive FoH and servers. The tagliatelle with lobster was fabulous, as was the turtle cheesecake. My dc wasn’t too happy w. what he ordered, but wants to return as he recognized they have excellent dishes. We’ll be back soon!

The best! This is my favorite place on the South Shore … or anywhere else for that matter. It is the total package: great food, beautiful venue and exceptional service. The Caffe’s interpretation of a Caprese salad and the red and yellow tomato pizza are two of my favorite offerings here. The antipasti is also outstanding. Caffe Tosca is beautiful anytime of the year but especially in the spring and summer … so the season is fast approaching. Snag a table outside on the patio, under the twinkling lights on the trees, and kick back with one of their fabulous cocktails. It’s like a two-hour vacation. A million stars!

Every time we go there the food is great, especially pizza — true Italian. Nice relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff. Been there few times and planning on coming back in the future. Fresh seafood! Thumbs UP!

Great bread and warm sauce for starters! I ordered the sweet sausage wood-grilled pizza, but it was cold! The waitress returned it and brought me a new one in about 2 minutes. Either they’re pre-made or I got someone else’s. Good, but I’ve had better. Hubby got veal Milanese and he said it was outstanding! Dessert was a little odd. I ordered the coconut custard pie, but there was nothing pie about it. It was a mousse and round. The burnt sugar banana sauce was seriously lacking in banana and tasted like caramel. At least one of us had a good meal! I wish this was a more memorable birthday gift card experience. Also, if it were any darker in there, I would have thought I was outside at night!
