WARNING: If you go to this restaurant, ask them NOT to seat you in Christopher’s section. He is new and struggling and made our whole experience tonight, 02/18, painful. He couldn’t keep up with any of his tables. Forgot or misunderstood me about my wine. Forgot a skewer of shrimp I ordered with my steak. They were cold and chewy. The steak was the only highlight. Then both my friend & I used credit cards. Had to ask for pens. I watched him do that with another customer. Crazy. He needs more training or needs to be gone. My friend loves this place. We were at this same location last week and it was fantastic. The waitress really knew her stuff. If this had happened last week, my first time to eat at Bonefish, I wouldn’t have visited any Bonefish G again.

We were a little skeptical for our first time visit, but we were not disappointed in any way. We had a gift card to use at one of the Bloomin’ Onion chain and had not been as impressed at during Outback or Carraba’s visits in the past year and a half as we had been in the previous 10 years. After reading reviews on Unilocal for all three on Hilton Head, Bonefish Grill had the most stars of the three, was closest, and we do like seafood, so we decided to dine at Bonefish. All I can say is WOW! We arrived a little after 5:30 on a Wednesday and had about a 15 minute wait. Lots more more people were arriving after we did. The bread and pesto dipping oil was to die for. The coconut shrimp as an appetizer were huge and delicious. My wife ordered Mahi Mahi with a topping recommended by our superb waiter, Will. It was ordered with the imperial topping normally served on the tilapia. My wife said, overall, it was second best meal out she’d ever had. I ordered from the specials menu, 6oz filet mignon with 3 lobster stuffed shrimp. I ordered the filet medium rare, and it was perfectly grilled. I can’t say too many places get it right… usually more on the medium side than stopping at medium rare. Perfection achieved! Also, I usually abhor putting sauces or gravies on a steak, but whatever brownish sauce was used on the steak only enhanced the wood grilled flavor. The garlic mashed potatoes were very good, the rest of the veggies included creamed spinach and some cherry tomatoes heated just to bursting for me and my wife had broccoli and cooked fresh spinach. The broccoli had a good seasoning flavor but the spinach was pretty bland. We didn’t have room for dessert, but were checked on by what I would assume to be a/the manager. He appeared to take a genuine interest in engaging us in a bit of conversation vs. just breezing by and asking if everything was OK and moving on to the next table, making rounds as he’s required to do as so often is our experience, if a manager even stops at our table. And as far as service goes, Will was very attentive and never left us for long even though I know he had at least two addtional tables I could see… maybe more. We will definitely eat at a Bonefish Grill again if one is near based on this experience!

Well, the food was good, nothing against it. two months later as I write this review, Most of what I remember about the stuffed tilapia with capers and it just was too buttery. But the Maryland crab cakes were simply awesome! Speaking of butter, the butter servers along with the bread was just soo tasty, couldn’t get enough of it. This particular tip May not be too helpful to fellow helpers, but since we are talking about things I remember, I do remember the butter.

Well here is The Good, the bad, and the Ugly with our dinner at Bonefish Grill on Hilton Head Island. Well let me first start off by Saying the food was amazing! We had the Bang Bang Shrimp, the lobster stuffed shrimp and Lobster Bisque that we shared for appetizers. ALL were really good however we had to send our Bisque back because it was COLD! For our Dinner we had Rhea’s Cobia and the Oscar Mahi Mahi which were both really good. But that’s not where the good ended, and the bad and ugly starts. We literally felt abandoned by our server the entire night. It took FORTYMINUTES to get bread. This was after we told every waiter, server, and hostess in shouting distance we needed bread! My wife waited 15 minutes for sweet tea until i had to get up and go to the hostesses and plead for a refill on sweet tea. When finally did make her way back to our table we tried to remember everything we needed before she left. We knew once she left, it would be a cold day in hell before she would emerge from behind the doors of the unknown to wait on us again. One of the staff that brought our appetizers did tell us they were short staffed that night, which we understand that happens at times. However, we saw the server at the table next to us Ten times to the ONE time we saw Her NOEXAGGERATION! We finally tracked down a manager and said he would make sure we got everything we were needing. On a scale of 1 – 10 our server was a 2 and after we spoke to the manager it went up to a 4… Maybe! We were NEVER asked if we wanted desert, which we did, but left without it. OH and our drinks took so long to come(about 30 minutes) I had forgotten we had ordered them!(They were great by the way). One last Insult to injury was it too FOREVER to get the check! Usually when you ask for to go boxes, your server brings the check at the same time. Not her, we had to wait another 10 to 15 minutes to track her down to get the check so we could leave! Sigh The ONLY thing that saved this evening was the quality of the food. We give the food 5 stars and that’s the only reason this review got 3 stars! But I MUST say the manager took 50% off of our bill without us asking(I was about to ask, trust me). We appreciate his willingness and initiative to help fix a bad situation. Our server was sweet but a HORRIBLE server. Will we be back? Maybe. But DEFINITELY will not be sitting in her section!

We just came from the bone fish grill, and were extremely disappointed, seemed like old frozen seafood poorly prepared and presentation was amateur. A good place in other cities but not in Hilton Head, warning stay away.

Heads Up — don’t order steak at Bonefish. I has a filet & lobster, my wife had trout. The filet was gristly and lacked flavor. The lobster & trout were very good. The service was average or better.

Thanksgiving trip to Hilton Head and the first thing we wanted to try was fresh, beautiful seafood. Our search led us to Bonefish Grille. Serene and dimly lit place, it is perfect for a quiet candle lit dinner for two(although we did see lots of big families there as well). The meal began with soft white bread served with a an olive oil and pesto emulsion. It was so good that we downed two plates of that back to back!!! One thing about this restaurant which is highly commendable is that everything was very fresh and flavorful. From the bread to the meat to the sauces. everything was very distinct in flavor, texture and taste. Next We tried and relished the Tilapia Imperial which is grilled Tilapia stuffed with Shrimps and topped with caper, lime and butter. It’s delicious, very fresh, very refreshing but also very very rich. My recommendation would be to split it with your partner. The Maryland Crab cakes, although took us by surprise because of the teemy tiny portion size, blew us away with the ultimate freshness of the meat and how delicately it was prepared. Don’t be surprised. There are actually two crab cakes to a portion Highly recommended. Please try as much as you can. It’s worth it :)

Great place for an evening out. It was a little on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. The peach martinis were great.

We enjoyed our evening here so much! We had made a reservation and were seated immediately — always nice and appreciated. Our waiter, Nick, was very busy but explained this to us and even though he was on the run at the beginning, he was friendly, attentive and informative. We ordered drinks and they were promptly delivered and good. We also ordered the Bang, Bang Shrimp and since it was Wednesday, it was Bang, Bang Shrimp Wednesday and they were $ 6! This was a nice surprise! For anyone who has never had these, they are the best! Small delicately fried shrimp covered in the yummiest somewhat spicy, but not hot, sauce. They are so good and a must have. Along with our drinks, a delicious, warm crusty loaf of bread with an herb flavored olive oil had been served. We had both ordered the Imperial Tilapia which was stuffed with shrimp, crab and scallops and drizzled with a light sauce. We chose mashed potatoes as our side and it came with a veggie of the day which was spaghetti squash. Everything was prepared perfectly and tasted so good. Unfortunately, between the Bang, Bang Shrimp and a slice of the crusty bread, I was pretty full and could only eat a few bites of my dinner. So, back to our condo rental it came and it was dinner the next night. Even though Bonefish is a chain, it is one of the better ones and consistently good. We’ve been to others in Florida and never been disappointed. Wish we had this chain in New Hampshire!

Made reservations for 9. Had a great table and service was good. Food was delicious, which surprised me as I am not big on chain restaurants. Haven’t been to bonifish grill in years, it was a great experience!

I’ve been meaning to write this review since August of last year, but… life happens. Anyway, I have to praise this place. Last year, my husband and I had a small wedding on Hilton Head and decided to have our dinner at Bonefish. We had about 35 people. I cannot begin to explain how top-notch and accommodating Bonefish was, and reasonably priced which was the biggie! Even the grouches in our group couldn’t complain, and we all know grouches love to complain, hehehe :) Great food, great ambience, and wonderful service at a great price! Everything went so smoothly, and thank God because I was hopped up on adrenaline and emotions and could not have handled any mishaps. The food was delicious, and my family and I are Bonefish frequenters where we live, so we’re very familiar with the food, but they really brought their A-game. They gave us like 5 or 6 servers which was so smart and a relief because who hasn’t been at a restaurant with a large group and they give you two or, horrors of horror, one server at the table running around forgetting orders, getting frustrated, and looking crazy? Thankfully, our waiters and waitresses were very nice, calm, and competent. We’d selected a prix fixe menu beforehand that they literally let us select as in we want those appetizers, that dish, that dish, and that dish. Ok, no problem. And that was how everything went. Ok, no problem. We made a couple of last minute changes and it was ok, no problem, and they handled it like pros whereas I’ve been in my fair share of fussy restaurants who can’t adapt to any changes whatsoever. They were so professional and easy to work with, and I just want to thank them for making my wedding dinner wonderful.

Husband and I ate here last night and enjoyed a wonderful dining experience. The 8oz filet was absolutely delicious… so tender and juicy. The burger was pretty good as well, and the added bacon on top was very yummy and thick cut. My husband said that his cucumber marg was spectacular, and the house-made lemonade that I got was refreshing as well. The potsticker app was good, what you would expect of potstickers. The sides were also pretty good though the one thing we didn’t care much for was the broccolini… tasted like liquid smoke. Overall, the meal was pretty pricey but we left fat and happy.

Terrible. Stay away! Recently 4 of us ate here. Had the calamari which were either frozen or so overcooked I thought I was eating dried paper. We also had the bang bang shrimp which friends of us told us was good. It was awful smothered in a rich mayonnaise type spicy sauce like an aoli. Could not even tell I was eating shrimp. For dinner I had the stuffed tilapia with crab and scallops I think. Very rich. Too much mayo or whatever the sauce was and made the meal unrecognizable. My husband had the pad thai with shrimp. Also a dismal failure. As for our friends they had the trout that was just ok. Also the sangria was so sweet it was like they added syrup too it. The most remarkable thing was the service. It was so fast we were done in 45 minutes. Not a good thing. No sooner did we get our appetizers when our entrees arrived. And at the end of it our bread came after the meal was finished. We all left feeling rushed, full and slightly sick as the sauces were so heavy. There are better places to eat on the island. We did not expect anything fancy here but this was really too disappointing. Red Lobster would even be better.

Showed promise but was quickly squashed with slow service and almost having to bribe our waiter for drink refills. The tilapia was good but sides were small, so don’t order that unless you are dieting. Restaurant looked and was priced upscale but was loud as a dive bar with fresh but shells on the floor.

Our large party was seated quickly. Drinks were ordered, and brought out ONEAT A TIME. What server does that? Service was slow after that. Bang Bang shrimp was good all around. Food was less than desired. My grilled trout was so dry I was unable to eat it. Sent the food back and was delivered a new fish after everyone else in the party was finished eating. Fish was better; but my jasmine rice was so sticky and disgusting I couldn’t eat it either. Drinks were all good.

I really like their menu and dessert selections! Nice ambiance and you can choose which side of the room you want to sit on – bar or main dining. Both seem great. Our dinner was delicious — except the chicken marsala was not super great. I realize it’s a seafood place so maybe chicken was a bad choice. Pumpkin crème brule amazing. They have a delicious bread pesto dipping sauce. We liked this place — had a really nice waitress named Violet who checked on us often too.

What a great dinner! The service was excellent and food was delicious. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the entrees and had excellent recommendations to help tailor each dish. Pros– I agree with the others the Shrimp app was very tasty. Excellent sauce. I would recommend this sauce with the other fresh fish. The pompano entrée was also delicious. Cons– while the sauce with the mussels is excellent the mussels always seem overcooked. I was hoping HHI was better at preparing this dish than my local restaurant. I would recommend this to my friends and would go back.

It’s really hard for me to see this restaurant as anything other than bad. I only give it 1 star. Anyway, what was wrong with my meal, and the restaurant as a whole? Bonefish presents itself as a fine establishment, everyone working in embroidered chef jackets, and looking that part of a fun, fine, place. Well, the menu was actually kind of boring. All the fish, except the wild mahi mahi, were really boring selections. Farmed Atlantic Salmon? Any fine dining establishment would know what garbage that is. Tilapia? Chilean Sea Bass??? Chilean Sea Bass is way over fished and really managed poorly to the detriment of the entire Antarctic region. OK, enough preaching about fisheries management… So, we ordered a few appetizers, and actually the edamame was really good, it was salty sweet. But we also ordered the shrimp bang bang, or something like that, and it was crappy Sysco fried shrimp drenched in some spicy Russian salad dressing. It was total garbage, how other people can tell anyone to actually order that on here is actually kind of funny. Next I got my Caesar salad. I love Caesar salad… With the fine presentation that this restaurant is trying to show, you would expect something better than literally the WORST Caesar salad I have ever had in my life, freakin any crap hole restaurant like say Red Lobster probably has one ten times better. Small, sparse would be a better way to describe it, and actually powdered parmesan cheese, powdered??? wtf… I ordered a steak because honestly the menu selections didn’t get me that excited, and I tasted my moms, and my wife’s food to verify that there’s weren’t anything spectacular, but they ended up probably being better than what I had. I had a steak, which evidently took a salt bath, and then was cooked properly, but salty and way over seasoned. Everything I ate was terrible; this restaurant is really just a big joke… I recognize that people have different standards than me, that people think that eating farmed salmon, and generic Sysco fried shrimp is ok, but I do not. This place is terrible, uninspiring, and would absolutely fail in any area where people actually have discerning taste.
