Definitely go early cause you’ll have to wait. Was it worth 40 bucks for two meals and an appetizer… Ehhh… But no regrets. Good food.

Once again they deliver friendly service and great seafood. Beyond the wait thus place is always worth it. The shrimp boil is the best deal on HHI and is better than doing it at home.

Awesome little place. Need to be bigger and more seating. We waited in line for maybe 30min. Didn’t take long for the food to be ready! We really enjoyed it.

Best place to get seafood on the island so far. I had the shack platter and it has enough food for at least 2. The blackened fish/shrimp/clams/oysters/crab cake/scallops were all perfectly cooked. The fried oysters and crabs were also delicious. I would definitely order all of those dishes again especially the blackened shack platter. The place is very small and only seats about 30 people so be prepared to wait about an hour in line, however the wait is worth it.

A few things to note an understand about the Sea Shack: first, if you are expecting a fine dining establishment in which you will be waited on in a dining room with exquisite ambiance, and if you expect to roll up and get seated right away… THIS Is NOTIT! However… if you want Absolutley amazing fresh and perfectly prepared seafood, delivered by a very friendly staff in an unassuming mom and pop type joint, then this is absolutely best place we have found, not only in Hilton Head but possibly in the whole Low Country. I got the«Shack Attack» a combo platter and like all of their dishes you have your choice to have it fried, broiled or blackened. This dish comes with Oysters, shrimp, scallops and fish(Tilapia) but I substituted flounder, crab cake and your choice of two sides. I chose to have mine blackened, and was not disappointed, and this was my first time to have blackened oysters(and I’m an oyster lover) and they may have been the best of all the choices, but that is a hard call to make because everything was amazing! The scallops were perfectly cooked to a blackened perfection, tender and moist. As were the fish, and the shrimp. I made a daring choice to try the sweet potato cornbread as one of my two sides choices. Boy I’m glad I did, but be warned it is by no means a county boy cornbread, and could be a dessert in its self. It is sweet and moist, and has almost a cake consistency and is extremely rich. Please be warned… This is a small«hole in the wall» establishment(which I deliberately seek when I want a good meal) the Sea Shack did not disappoint, HOWEVER be ready to wait… Outside…in the heat(it was 95+ degrees and high oppressive humidity) and we got there for dinner at 4:30, which was 30 minutes prior to opening and still had to wait over 45 minutes… BUT without question it was worth every minute of the wait. Thanks you to my namesake nephew for this amazing recommendation. Finally, if you come to Hilton Head and do not eat a The Sea Shack, then you are doing yourself a terrible gastronomic dis-service/crime.

Very good seafood! It’s a small place that should be featured on DDD. Excellent food and worth the short wait. Lines form outside, but don’t be scared away. We ate at three different seafood places and paid a lot of money for food that didn’t compare to Sea Shack. Don’t leave Hilton Head without trying it!

We recently visited here on the reviews of Unilocal. As noted in other reviews there was a line even on the ‘down-pour’ rainy day we went at 12:50pm. We spent a good 20 minutes outside before having our party of 3 welcomed into the establishment to order, then be seated at a table. As for the small staff and limited seating we waited another 25 minutes before our food arrived, not a problem. The food — I ordered the tilapia sandwich, fries and coleslaw, the fries were cold, grease embedded and old. Coleslaw was fine seemed to be homemade, the tilapia fish sandwich was a bit shy of fish only 1 fillet with 1 slice of tomato and a leaf of lettuce. I would not run back to this place, but it seems to be a favorite spot for the tourist even-thou it’s located on a side-street and no-where near the ocean…

Where do I start? This place is fantastic all the way around. I will say that there is a constant line and it does a take a LONG time to get to the cashier so make sure you get there a little before you get absolutely hangry. I’ve been here several times and always get the blackened gator bites and they are consistently delicious! My fiancé loves their scallops also. The blackened is obviously a little spicy but it’s perfect! The conch fritters and hush puppies are pretty amazing too. The service is friendly and as fast as they can be for being so busy. It is definitely a hole in the wall place and the atmosphere matches. Like I said the line is sometimes LONG but the wait is absolutely worth it.

My girlfriend, her mom, and I ate there lastnight. It seemed promising and we ordered a lot of food! I mean a lot. After paying our $ 62 dollar bill, we grabbed a table and shortly our alligator tail, soft shell crab and conch fritters were there. The soft shell crab has nearly no meat what so ever, the alligator was undercooked, the conch fritters were good though. When our food arrived it was way too spicy, we ordered it blackened but it was barely edible. We all got sick lastnight and spent our last night in Hilton head curled up nauseous in bed.

I’m typically not a seafood fan, but I’m always willing to try it when I’m on the coast. The popcorn shrimp was very good and the hush puppies were delicious!

This place is a must for those that love seafood! Found this place online and only regret not going here more than once. This is a small mom & pop but dont let that discourage. They offer more than just fried selections, they have grilled and blackened items. I had the grilled red snapper with fried okra. Food was excellent and they offer takeout. There were lots of locals in there! Only concern would be large parties, as there is limited seating inside but moves quickly. There are picnic benches outside. Will be going back here for sure.

We came to this place based on other Unilocal reviews. So glad we did! Friendly staff. They said we came at the right time of year(May) because in the summer, the wait is around 2 hours! We dined inside and had plenty of sauce options. I had the fried shrimp with cheese grits and fried okra. So yummy and fresh tasting! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a casual no frills place but high in the food quality department. I did notice that you can call ahead for your order and take out. I think I’d try this choice if I had a big family in tow. The inside dining options are on the crowded side. I think the biggest table sat 6 people.

Thank you Sea Shack for giving me my HHI fried shrimp fix this past weekend! We wanted to drive around and enjoy the view of the island, so we got our food to go. The shrimp were perfect along with the coleslaw and hush puppies. The nice surprise was the delicious collard greens, so good with the hush puppies in the potlicker!!! We went about 1:30 P.M. on a Friday and there was no line. :)

Good food. 11 – 11:30a is the best time to go or lines are long. Worth the wait if you want some good fresh fish.

Exactly what you are looking for as far as good and casual seafood goes. Long lines, excellent food, nice staff. No alcohol but don’t let that scare you off! A friend and I shared the Shack Attack and left satiated and full of fried goodness. We both agree this platter would be excellent grilled too. Fat scallops, creamy crab cake, tender shrimp and tilapia, perfect oysters and crunchy hush puppies. You can’t do wrong. We upgraded to onion rings and don’t regret it! Go and enjoy!

While visiting Hilton Head we were told to come here because it’s a popular attraction. I did not fully enjoy the food for the price that is for sure. Very divey(nothing wrong with that I love restaurants like that). I think it might be a bit overrated when there are several other places to eat sea food at. All though, they do have gator which is one of my favorites. I wouldn’t say it was my favorite place or that I was thoroughly impressed.

I decided to stop here on my way out of Hilton head island after a few days there on vacation. I heard about this place and the people willing to wait in line just to get a bite of seafood so I had to check it out. Luckily since I was on vacation there in December and came during lunch, the wait wasn’t long at all. This is a wait in line and order restaurant. Their menu in the restaurant is posted behind the cash register but it’s a little disjointed and confusing as some of their combination meals aren’t posted up there but instead on the register table. Given my short wait in line I had to decide quickly what to get. I decided to go with the blackened popcorn scallops, fried shrimp, and the shack attack which is a combination plate. The popcorn scallops and the fried shrimp appetizers were delicious. The blackened seasoning was on point. The«shack attack» is a combination plate with scallops, oysters, shrimp, and tilapia. I went with the blackened version. I decided to go with cheese grits and vegetable rice for the two sides. Everything on the shack attack plate was tasty except I didn’t enjoy the cheese grits as much, but I’m not a big fan of grits in the first place so take that with a grain of salt. A few reasons why this joint doesn’t get 5 stars is that it is a little pricy for this type of place. The fried shrimp appetizer was $ 9 and you get about 6 fried shrimp. Additionally, when ordering the combination plate, you can’t mix and match the type of way you want your seafood cooked(fried, blackened, grilled, etc). I know they most likely do this because of the time issue since there’s people lined up eager to order. It’s still annoying nonetheless. Overall this is a good place to get your seafood fix. As their painting on the wall says its«not fancy, just tasty.» Additional props to them for holding on to my girlfriends purse until she remembered that she forgot it.

This is my favorite seafood restaurant on the island. Very good food and a casual atmosphere. It can get busy so be prepared to wait a little. Don’t be turned off by the line outside, it doesn’t take long to make it inside. The only reason I didn’t give the Sea a Shack 4 stars is the drinks. No alcohol and Pepsi products. I’m a Coke girl. Now this is not the place for a nice healthy meal. The best items are fried and breaded. The servings are big enough to take half your meal home and the food is reasonably priced. The Sea Shack is not open on Sundays.

This is a super casual spot. We visited during February at lunch time, so there was no wait at all. Easy in, easy out. We ordered at the counter, and food was at our table in less than five minutes. The food was excellent — the oyster po’boy was the highlight of the meal(although the spicy buffalo shrimp po’boy was excellent, too). The stewed okra and tomatoes were fabulous. The hush puppies were so good that my father ordered more. Unfortunately, no one in our group tried the sweet potato cornbread — I would bet it was fantastic. It was a great lunch spot. We enjoyed it!
