Great place to get a snack or lunch. The sandwich combos are a good price. A variety of island snacks. Dried fruits, cookies, pickled fruit(I think), other dried goods, ice cream, shaved ice etc. my favorites are the candied jabong peels and the garlic chips. Very friendly and quick service as well. Always new things coming in so there always something to try. I come here at least once or twice a week.

The selection and service continues to exceed my expectations. They make the best Pastele stew. Usually served on Saturdays.

Best shaved ice on west side of big island– great texture, delicious homemade flavors. Heaven!

After a rough day of canceled helicopter tours, we were in dire need of a sweet shaved ice. After Unilocaling, we found this location and walked in to find they were closed. Upon seeing our disappointment, the kind lady behind the counter took pity on us and served us anyway. She continued on after closing hours with a smile on her face and a sweet disposition which had us all smiling as we exited. An extra added plus was that the shaved ice was top notch! Five stars to both our server and Lani’s. Thanks for the hospitality as we are so far from home!

The shave ice is to die for. They make their own syrup and it does not taste all chemically. Wee had to grab some crack seed– which is also made locally. There are tables to sit in while enjoying your snacks. The ice cream was also very good.

After having grown up on Big Island Ice Shave, I can say that Lani’s ranks up there with them all, if not the best. It’s currently the finest and softest powder you’ll find in any ice shave here, locally. All the common favorite flavors of syrup are offered and the price is right. Lani and her family have really accommodated me and my family, including my two little messy ones, every time we go there. The service is dealt with a touch of ‘Aloha.‘ Aside from the ono ice shave, Lani also offers Dave’s brand ice cream. My favorites are the Hawaiian Mud Pie and the Ulu ice cream. There’s also a whole bunch of locally made snacks such as chips, candies, and choke(plenty) crack seed. Good location for visitors to pick up omiyage on the way to the airport. My only suggestion would be for the place to have a little more seating accommodations outside of their store. They only had one table and two chairs. Maybe several more benches or another table with more chairs would benefit bigger crowds and/or families.

If it wasn’t for local friends I wouldn’t know about this place. A great little shop with too many goodies to sample and enjoy in one visit. I tried a few things and they were all super tasty, but the Ugly Cookies were my favorite — so good. If I lived near here I’d stop by weekly and sample everything. I can’t wait to go back for more treats next time I’m in the area. Same building as Hawaiian Style Café.
