Super delicious! Everything was fresh and bursting with flavor! Definitely coming back again and again!

Don’t let the restaurant appearance fool you. The food here, is beyond fucking amazing! I was going to get MC Donald(Don’t judge me, I like awesome food as well as junk food sometime). And there is something, something the chef at this restaurant they put in, that would drag living beings into their restaurant. The smell of their food is magic. Anyway, I came here for dinner, got garlic naan which was fresh out from the oven(tandoori I suppose) and lamb coconut marsala. And they are freaksiously delicious! I came here for dinner, so I am not sure about lunch buffet. The restaurant is super small, so large group is not recommended.

This is one of the good indian restaurants in portland, We ordered fish curry, lamb peppper masala and butter chicken along with onion and garlic naans. All of them were very good and lived up to the expectations of Indian food. There gajar ka halwa is perfect. Couldn’t find something worth complaining in any of the dishes. The only disappointing thibg was that the quantity of dishes is really less for the prize they ask for.

We normally go to a indian restaurant in Orenco station but this was closer to my work so we tried it. The buffet was small and almost everything was empty while I was there. The food taste alright but nothing super awesome.

One of the best Indian meals I have had in a long time. Tucked in between an econolodge and a McDonald’s the size of this place shouldn’t deter you. My husband had the lamb tikka masala and I had the chicken vindaloo. The lamb was tender and subtly spiced enough to bring out its distinct taste but creamy and amazing enough that he mopped it all up with the hot and chewy naan. My vindaloo was hot and spicy but the chicken was fork tender. Bottom line is you don’t need to leave Hillsboro for excellent Indian food anymore.

Very unassuming and easy to miss but the best Indian food I have eaten in a long time. These little out of way places are often worth a visit and this definitely is. The lunch buffet was fresh warm and so very tasty. The Best Naan Bread I have had too!

Nice ambience. Nice service. The location is good but the dining area is little bit small. Food was superb. Do try malai kofta and shahi paneer there. Must visit for vegetarian food.

Probably the best Indian food I’ve had in the greater Portland area, which is for some reason hard to find! I eat here a couple times per week for the lunch buffet, and sometimes call ahead and do dinner take out. The food is fantastic, and the prices are not bad. Do not judge the place by its looks. It’s not trying to be trendy, it’s just good food!

I have only been here during lunch for the buffet. Very good food for a really great price. The little building they’re located in had several different food businesses open and close throughout the years… They’ve lasted for a while! Food is good so I’m not surprised.

Went here with a co-worker on week day. Small place, and modest exterior, lots of similar dishes on the menu. The sauce on my curry with coconut dish medium was very thick and just right spicy(medium). It was too thick, too fattening. The place was kind of empty although two folks came in for take out while we were there. Should you try it for yourself? I would say yes, but for me the sauce was too thick and too layered with ghee. I’d have to be wow’d by another meal to give it the next level up, that didn’t happen on this meal. I would try a fish dish next time, and venture out. Because I really have never had a Punjab fish dish, and it’s more than time.

4.25 Stars This tiny little gem does your basic classics very well. This review is from our first time here. We did the lunch buffet to sample their cuisine. The cuisine featured on the buffet is flavorful without spiciness. In other words, you will not have to wipe your nose, or take antacid from use of the chili. This place is great to take those who need it very mild. You could taste the other seasonings of: Fresh cinnamon, cardamom, masalas, and clove. They also did not over use salt or sugar which I am most thankful for. The buffet did not have a huge selection. They have just a few of your basic classic standard dishes done really fresh and really well. Buffet Featured : Butter chicken Chicken Curry Dal Channa Masala Mixed vegetable curry Palak Paneer Carrot Halwa Keer Pakora Basmati rice Fresh Nan brought to your table Basic salad fixings and chutneys etc on the cold bar. Other reviewers mention Chai. I did not see Chai that day. Sad, I like a good Chai. I really have no complaints on their cuisine, everything is very good. You can tell it is all home made fresh, even the yummy naan. The stars of the buffet: Pakora, naan, keer, and palak, that could have used more paneer. The grand star was the Carrot Halwa. I have had a number of Carrot Halwa in my lifetime. This by far the best I have ever had. We left the restaurant in a dream state on how good that carrot halwa was. 6 stars for the halwa. You simply must save room for it. You will thank me later. Other info: They are located next to McDonalds. Parking is limited, so we had to park on the Mc D’s side. This restaurant is very tiny with only about 10 tables. I wish them great success so they may expand their seating area, or get a bigger location. Tables were stacked in tight very close to one another. I heard the entire conversation of the table next to us. I got an inservice on house purchases in the Portland metro area with my lunch from the next table over.(Jokingly haha.) There was no background music to drown them out. The buffet was well marked of their selections. Which is good because we need to know what was vegetarian and what was not. When we came there was only ½ cup rice left in the bin. They could keep a better eye out and restock items on the buffet, or better yet, get a bigger set up with bigger bins. This establishment was clean and the service was very friendly. We liked it. We would come back here with friends who need it very mild. Everything was very fresh tasting. We were dreaming of the carrot halwa as we walked away. Thanks Unilocal friends for the recommendation !

Excellent homestyle Indian food. We were blown away. Even my toddler was delighted! Not to be missed. Friendly service, clean facilities… You can tell the owners really take pride in their business. Charming little place! Hillsboro is lucky to have this gem.

I love this place, yes it is a bit small but that’s part of the charm. Family run just adds to it. My BF ate here for the first time today and now we are smacking our self’s as to why not sooooner. We always met to but never had the time. The food is out standing, the service was grand, if you love Indian type food give it a try. You wont be disappointed!!!

The place was really small and when we pulled up my boyfriend and I were a little unsure, but we ventured in and we’re thankful that we did because the food was tasty and the service was great. I had palak paneer and my bf had tandoori chicken. My palak paneer was a bit spicy and filled with flavor. I was mostly happy to see that there was not a pool of grease as it cooled down like one of the last places that I tried. I ordered lentil soup which we shared and vegetable samosas. My bf had never eaten Indian food before so I was so excited when he tasted the pappadam and mint chutney and his face showed obvious approval. He enjoyed the soup and loved his tandoori chicken, even though he was sweating while eating it. The restaurant was very clean and the waitress was sweet, plus she continuously filled our glasses with water. The food was a bit spicy and I am not sure we should have gone even medium spicy for his first time, but it was worth the runny nose to have eaten some really good food. We will definitely be back and I will coax the bf to try another dish. I am even thinking that maybe on our next visit we should try the lunch buffet, so that he can experience a little more of what they have to offer instead of having to order just one dish during dinner. Either way, we will be back.

First experience here. Small restaurant but very clean. Seriously the best Indian cuisine I’ve had in Oregon. Wow, just wow. I don’t even had words to describe how yummy fresh and carefully prepared and presented. The garlic naan was amazing, along with delicious chicken tikka masala and chicken bryani. I’m so impressed I will definitely come back.

Our group of 10 ate here during a recent overnight trip to Oregon. I had argued against coming here because Indian food is known to cause some indigestion XP and we were all staying in a house together. However, I had a nice bathroomless night after eating here. This place looks incredibly small from the outside but there is actually decent seating inside. There was already a table set up for a large group like ours and we were able to immediately sit down. The dishes can be prepared mild medium and hot. Let me warn you, the hot is SPICY. Don’t let the haters tell you otherwise. All in all pretty tasty but I spent a lot of time trying to flag down the waiter for more water.

I’ve finally tried this place. Many people have talked about it and the ratings on Unilocal are high; however, this would be my last option after both Swagat & Chennai Masala. The lunch buffet was a little under $ 10, and while it was«okay» in taste… The food didn’t seem fresh(tandoori chicken, in particular.) My favorite Indian buffet in Hillsboro has been decided… Chennai Masala for the win!

Hands down my favorite Indian restaurant. The place may look questionable at first from the outside but the food is legit the staff is great. The server always knew what my friends and I wanted. My favorite dishes are the paneer and love the samosas.

Food took 50 minutes, when we were told 20 – 30 minutes. They had 2 tables of customers, so they were not busy. Then, our irder of chicken tikka was literally 6 small pieces of chicken and onions, for $ 12 a plate. Needless to say we were very disappointed with our service and our food.

Maharaja is a good hidden gem in Hillsboro. Glad we found it! I tried their lunch buffet. For vegetarians they had chai to drink, chole, black lentils, aloo gobhi, palak paneer, rice, vegetable pakora and served hot nan at the table. Aloo gobhi was made fresh from scratch and had perfect blend of spices. It’s more like home food cooked on special occasions. No extra cream used and taste fresh. Dessert had kheer and carrot halwa. Carrot halwa was not very sugary. Warm and perfect for the weather. It is family owned placed. Owners’s daughter was our host. She was courteous and kept checking if all was ok. Small place with casual ambience. Looking forward to try the dinner menu!
