Medvet Medical & Cancer Centers For Pets

My GSD mix, Thor, was attacked by a housemate pretty badly. I’ve never needed to bring my beast to the ER vet before, and we just moved from Hawaii, so we haven’t even found a family vet, yet. A quick google search brought me Medvet in Hilliard. I called and they were so friendly on the phone. Even though nobody wants to be working on Saturday, let alone on a holiday weekend, it seemed like they did. No matter how much they wanted to be home with their families, the receptionist, the tech, Nathan, and Dr. Fagundo all acted like Thor was the most important thing that night.
There were other emergencies, of course, so we spent about 2 hours there before being told they were going to stitch him up and it would take a few hours, so we could go home. They were so thorough with Thor. He had some extra patches shaved when we picked him up because they had so thoroughly inspected him, that they wanted to make sure other scabs (from old play bites/​fights) weren’t open wounds. Thor looks a little silly now, but I’m so thankful they looked at every single thing they found to make sure he didn’t get bit anywhere else.
His stitches are on a hard part on his front arm, where there isn’t much skin. His stitches looked clean and they gave us a fantastic mixture of meds to keep him comfortable and heal. They even brought him out before surgery so we could say bye to him before we went home.
The next morning, Thor hadn’t slept. Dr. Fagundo was STILL THERE (!!!) and she gladly took my call to discuss Thor’s pain pill dosage and possible solutions to his restlessness.
I would not hesitate for one single second to take Thor back to MedVet Hilliard for emergency care. Hopefully we will never need it again, but I am so thankful for their team, who clearly work there not for $, but because they love our animals.
As far as pricing goes, we left spending about $ 800. We had to pay up front, but they refunded us some of the money that they didn’t end up charging. Fortunately for us, we have a credit card with an outrageously huge limit for just these types of situations, so we were able to pay right away.

My dog had to go in at 2am for vomiting and a gastro infection. The staff was so kind and answered every time I called with great status updates. It is rather expensive but way worth the cost!
My little buddy had to spend two nights in the hospital but came home feeling great!

Dr. Mohan is the absolute best avian vet around. Hands down. I’ve been taking my birds to him for decades and you just can’t find anyone better. (I’ve discovered that bird owners drive for hours from other states to see Dr. Mohan!) This is a new location for him and can be quite expensive, but to me, these are my birdies and I’m not going to mess around when it comes to their care. Dr. Mohan and his assistant Elise (she’s an integral part of the team!) are worth every penny. And they’d never ask you to pay for anything they don’t think is absolutely necessary. One of my favorite things about Dr. Mohan? He brings his cart of equipment into the exam room with you. He does all examinations and procedures with you right there in the room. He even lets me hold my own birds during examination, tests and even two surgeries! It was so comforting to hold them myself and see every single thing they were doing. I just hate when vets take my pets into the back and I don’t know what is going on, if anyone is comforting them while they don’t feel well or when I can hear my pets crying in another room where I can’t be with them. Again, this new office he is a part of can be quite expensive but Dr. Mohan and Elise are worth every single penny and they have my complete trust, without a question or doubt. I’m so happy he joined this office and didn’t go into full retirement (he’s only in on Tuesdays and Thursdays so schedule ahead). I’m going to freak out when he retires! Lol Elise: You’re going to go ahead and become a vet, right?

They are very well connected to the avian community nationwide and truly care about the happiness and quality of life for pet birds. They can help you care for, locate lost birds or place birds in loving homes any time you need their help. Birds take a special knack to care for, keep healthy physically and mentally, and to understand. Dr. Mohan (and Elise) is your man!

My dog injured himself on a Sunday and of course no vet is open on Sundays. Luckily Medvet is 24 hours and this location wasn’t too far from where I live. There were a lot of other emergencies when I came in, so the wait was a bit long, but they took great care of my dog. The staff was friendly, the vet I saw was very thorough and explained everything, and they gave estimates before they did anything. No emergency vet is going to be cheap, and they certainly weren’t, but I know my dog was well cared for so it was worth it. They also accept Care Credit, which is a nice bonus and a HUGE help if your medical bill winds up being out of your budget. Subtracting one star because of the slightly high pricing and the fact that they do examinations in the back, not in the room in front of you like at most other vets. I hope I don’t need emergency care for my dog any time soon, but I’ll go back here if I do.
