Highwood and HP need more places like this. They have great salads, sandwiches, pizzas and a kick ass beer menu. Everything I have ever orders from here has been above average. The wings are great. The over night I had the farmers harvest salad with zucchini, asparagus, which was awesome. Appetizers are great too.

Now that we have been back… a lot… There are only 2 negatives in my opinion… 1. The new barstools in the bar area are incredibly uncomfortable! and 2. They have over 24 taps and on any given day, no matter what time of year, close to 20 are overly hoppy beers. They really need to diversify their beer selection… lots of different brews, but not a lot of different styles. Overall, a great spot for a casual meal or a Sunday Funday though! Still a big fan of the food and staff. PS — Bonus: they are open when the others aren’t(ie holidays, late night, etc)

Remodeling looks great. Nice selection of beers and an interesting menu… and nice people serving them! So what’s not to like?

Much better now that it isn’t a part of a chain. We go for lunch and the food is tasty and there is a pretty ambitious and good menu. Shepard’s pie with ground veal is excellent as is the fried chicken(huge serving). Burgers are all really good too.

We’ve eaten here a couple of times now, and it’s pretty good! As always, I like places that I can take my baby at 6pm but feel more date like at 9, and I think this fits the bill. I’ve had the fried chicken, which was excellent– though I wish it was served with some honey, since the chicken and fries are super salty, and the jalepeno gravy that comes with it doesn’t balance the saltiness very well(it’s good, just, you know, also salty.) Everything is, simply, pretty good! The menu is nicely creative and the portions are well sized. I see us eating here a lot– at 6 with the baby, or later if we get a sitter!

I’ve been here a few times since the tap-house switchover and was happy with the food and service. The kids events(new years eve for example) are handled really well. The double burger special with curds on top is EXCELLENT!

I don’t like negative reviews, unless we are treated poorly while dining, which to be clear, was not the case here. While my wife and I have only ordered once from this restaurant, and it was delivery from GrubHub, the food was inedible. We tossed out EVERYTHING and just found leftovers to defrost and eat. I am hoping that when we muster the nerve to try this as a dine-in experience, I can update this review to reflect the positive experience. The former restaurant that had this location, Tap House Grill, was awesome, so we will try it again.

Went in on a Monday night for Smash & Mash Night when their double burger is $ 3. The $ 3 gets you the burger and bun(sesame or brioche. Pretzel bun is extra $ 2. You can select your veggies, cheese and special sauces for an extra $ 0.25 each. They have a decent selection of sauces like truffle mayo, onion aioli, salsa, and sriracha. Any add ons like avocado, cheese curds, or mushrooms are $ 2 each. Sides like fries were $ 1-$ 2. So to get a full decent tasting burger with good fixings and a side, you’ll spend close to $ 10. The burger itself was pretty good and filling. It was kinda large that I couldn’t finish it. They did have limited Goose Island Bourbon County beer on tap still: everywhere else is tapped out. So that was a major plus for the hubby. Our daughter loved the Mac and Cheese from the kids menu. It wasn’t your ordinary boxed cheddar Mac and cheese looking meal. It came with a single scoop of vanilla ice cream sundae with whipped cream, sprinkles and a cherry. She was happy about that. Service was great. Our waiter was kind, attentive, returned frequently, constantly filling out waters, giving more napkins and even providing suggestions. The have a full bar, plenty of tvs, a private back room for parties, and a lounge area with couches and a tv to watch a game. Only downside is that the chairs on the high tables were hard to sit comfortably.

Went here for lunch on a Saturday. Got a high-top table in the middle of the room. Normally, that would be fine, however the chairs were super uncomfortable, and I think the few people around us kept watching us squirm. LOL! Service was really good. Since it was very slow, the bartender, Ryan, was also our server. Nice guy… very attentive. I had a Bloody Mary — which was AWESOME. Perfect combo of thickness & spiciness. Ordered the Bavarian pretzel for an appetizer. OMG — it’s so huge, they service it in a pizza box, and it’s incredibly yummy. Hot, crispy & buttery on the outside, hot & fluffy on the inside. I had the jerk chicken/pumpkin wrap. It was just ok — probably won’t order it again. My son had chicken & waffles which he said were good and hubby had the fish & chips… also very good. I’d go back again just for the Bloody Marys!

Definitely 4.5 stars. My girlfriend and I attended a Unilocal event here last week and decided to return to see how things were without the Unilocal fanfare. Needless to say we were not disappointed. I ordered the Spicy Smash Burger with bacon and fries. The burger was disappointingly not spicy but still tasted very good. Next time however I will try the«create your own burger» option. The fries were just about perfect(yes I’m picky about fries), I’m glad I decided to pay the extra dollar for them. In also got to try their spicy buffalo chicken Sandwich which as also excellent. The service was excellent, our server was friendly and the food did not take long. Will definitely return!

Great new look and feel(and name) for the former Tap House Grille! The new menu is slick and there are some great new additions like the Juicy Lucy burger. The best new addition though, by far, was a special, only offered on Fridays for a limited time apparently — a Lobster Roll with coleslaw that was the best meal I’ve had at either Tap House or Barrel Crossing and the best Lobster a Roll I’ve had in Chicago area, period. Keep up the good work, Barrel Crossing, and add that lobster roll to the new, slick menu!

Always looking for new Sunday breakfast-brunch places and this is a winner! Limited but good menu offering pancakes with eggs bacon or sausage. Bloody Mary bar featured. Wait staff friendly and efficient. We’ll be back.

I was a bit concerned about checking this place out because of the less than stellar Unilocal reviews, but we decided to draw our own conclusions. I went here in late December with the lovely Liz T. The service was spot on. I liked the trendy décor and cozy fire. The menu all looked delicious. We both ordered burgers which were fabulous. The size of tots were an awesome surprise. I asked for some sides of the sauces to dunk the tots in. For an appetizer, we split the fried pickles. I don’t understand the low ratings. I will definitely be back!

I think I finally figured out what bothered me about this place; it tries too hard to be so fun and lively to the point that it’s really loud and kind of annoying. The wood floors and wood booths really amplify the noise. I had to almost yell to speak with my date that night. The menu is kind of confusing to navigate. It’s like they merged two restaurants into one but with all the loose ends of two restaurants. Strange. The wait staff were really good and should be commended for how hard they work. In the end perhaps I just needed to find a quieter place to grab dinner.

Oh, Hot Mess… how I wanted to love you. What’s not to love when you have Fried Chicken, Mac n Cheese and waffles all rolled into one? This dish was just the pits. Breading was gross, chicken tasted old, the waffle was tough to bite into, it was a hot mess! Service at BC could have been better. More attentive and more personal. My husband got the Spicy Smash burger and thought it was ok. The patties were super thin. We also got the pretzel for an appetizer and thought that was ok. We really wanted to love you… but this place kind of missed the boat for us.

After two reviews of separate dining experiences I found that mistakes can and will be made. I hope you all take the time to read the other two reviews I have written about this establishment. Within 12 – 24 hours of writing each review I received feedback. That alone is amazing to say the least. Even though I sort of laid into the company throughout the second review, the manager /owner, not sure which one, took the time to hear me out and reach out and made it right! Like stated in both previous Unilocal– the food was great as was the service, so please do yourself a favor and help support our local eatery. Mark is a good man and I truly hopes this continues to be a successful restaurant for a long time to come.

In town last week and wanted a casual dinner with friends and my son. My buddy is also a beer snob so I needed a place in the burbs with quality beer.(Wine or light American beer for me, please) In my search I learned that Tap House Grill had changed. I called and the girl on the phone said«yes we changed, but we’re nice now.» I asked, «can we come in jeans?» She replied, «yes.» Okay… It seemed exactly the same as it was before: burgers, chicken sandwiches, salads, greasy appetizers, etc. They do have a good beer selection. The hostess seemed disinterested. The waitress was very good and attentive. I find Tap House/Barrel Crossing to be A-OK. TV’s for watching games, usually pretty easy to street park and is good for kids too.

I was a semi-regular when this place was the Tap House. I was so surprised to see the Unilocal reviews because I think the Barrel Crossings are actually and improvement on the Tap House Grill. It is now independent(yay for small business), and the menu is fantastic. I had the same servers whom were previously at the Tap House. The beer selection was excellent, fried pickles amazing, and the spicy smash burger was delicious. It is still very casual and I was able to make a reservation on a Saturday night. Their holiday decorations were cozy and I like the new design of the restaurant. Parking is easy, there is a lot across the street and behind the restaurant and pub. I could come here for dinner or just for drinks. The prices are very fair and I think they’ve improved upon the menu. I will be back! Likely even more than I came when it was the Tap House!

I went a few weeks ago I thought the food was just alright, i Iiked the THG much better, the service was a little slow but i totally understand because the place was standing room only, other than that I’ll dine there again because I love the atmosphere
