Oh, Rita’s… How I love thee… Being from South Jersey/Philly area, this is definitely a treat you miss when you move away from home. So glad I found this one. A bit out of the way but definitely worth the drive! This place is so clean and very kid friendly. They have an HDTV mounted to the wall. My 7 yr old son and I sat down and watched an animated film as we ate our«wooder ice»(water ice). The only reason I won’t rate them 5 stars is because they were out of soft pretzels. They have the warming machine but no pretzels. Water ice just ain’t water ice without a soft pretzel!

Well of course Rita’s gets a five star rating, how could it not? This Rita’s used to be over in Flower Mound and they relocated over to Highland Village. Not a bad location except for all the construction on the road. I was over in the area meeting a friend and her daughter for dinner so me and the kiddo came out. Rita’s was a happy accident. I never knew where they moved to and well, got lucky. I’ve had Rita’s since I lived in New Jersey, so I always like a taste of home, and their ices are nothing like the snow cone shacks that dot all the smaller towns outside the DFW area. I decided to try one of their custard and water ice combos. Strawberry water ice and frozen chocolate custard… DAMN was that good. It was like biting into a chocolate covered strawberry. Big pieces of frozen strawberries and creamy custard. Thankfully I got a small since the kiddo chose not to finish her strawberry ice off. It was a great way to finish off a meal and Rita’s is always a treat, even if I don’t get over to it to often. But now that I know where this one is located, at least I can try to make more of an effort.
