Last minute dinner on a chilly and rainy night… good service makes up a lot for the middle of the road food. We ordered the shrimp rolls which were good as long as you had sweet and sour sauce and mustard sauce. Also tried the Mongolian beef and chicken fried rice… the beef was ok but needed ‘something’ like salt or soy sauce. The fried rice was good too, but also rather bland. Still I’d recommend Yummy Bowl because the service was really good, not noisy, and you can always add your own soy sauce!

Hm where do I begin? My grandma wanted to take us out for dinner and chose this place since it was rather close and because it was Chinese food. Let’s just get this out of the way– it’s Americanized Chinese food, I often have no problem with it, but perhaps Panda Express has a better taste if you want that type of Chinese food. Our whole party wasn’t there yet, but they seated us anyways. It wasn’t even a busy night for them. The waiter kept walking over asking what we needed after we told him we wanted to wait for our party. Then the manager kept coming over asking if our party was coming or rather knew to meet us at this restaurant. I was super annoyed at the fact they kept doing that and commenting about us like we couldn’t hear. I’d understand if they were busy, but it was not, at all! Anyways, let’s get to the actual food. It was mediocre and very salty, I drank maybe 4 glasses of water. The busboy was on point refilling glasses. And their dish sizes couldn’t justify the prices for me. It was super expensive! They also forgot 2 of our dishes even though I saw our waiter write it down. But later we had another waiter help us and he was hilarious! He sang«girl on fire» since my aunt kept asking for more hot chili sauce. He was way more helpful than our first waiter. Anyways if you want authentic Chinese food, this isn’t the place for you. If you want overpriced Americanized Chinese food, then go right ahead!

Love this place! The staff is always courteous and friendly and the food is always above par. My usual used to be Chicken Fried Rice and Sweet and Sour Chicken but now it’s the Shanghai Shrimp, which is unbelievably delicious. It isn’t a «date» night type of entrée though, as its heavy in green onions. Absolutely delicious though, as is the rest of their menu.

Friendly staff. Very clean. The hot basil noodles are delicious, full of fresh veggies, white chicken, and not too oily. Great spot for lunch with well priced lunch specials and both Chinese and Thai options.

Wow, this place was surprisingly amazing. Went based on reviews in Unilocal. It’s so unassuming from the décor, but the food was out of this world good. The service was attentive(waters always filled, plates brought before meal arrived, etc.). Absolutely the best Chinese food restaurant in the North Shore(maybe city). We had Vegetable Pot Stickers, Egg Rolls, Panang Curry(amazing) with ToFu; Governor’s Chicken(also know as General Tsao’s Chicken). Terrific. Lots of Chicken, Pad Thai, Mixed Vegetables. They offer brown or white rice. They also can do most things gluten free upon request. Portion sizes were substantial. Sauces were tasty. Egg rolls were amazing. Lots of vegetarian options. Kids loved the food too! Totally casual. We will definitely go back again and again.

What a great restaurant. The Chinese and Thai menu offered so many selections, and the food we ordered was delicious. I liked that they had both white and brown rice on offer. The wait staff was very attentive, which my friend and I loved, since the place we’d eaten at the night before left us sitting for long periods of time. I’ll definitely be eating here again.

Yummy Bowl is so delicious! This is the only Chinese restaurant I will ever go to! The service there is great, they are all very nice. The food is so delicious and the portions are huge so there are always leftovers! :)

Really friendly staff, low-key and nice environment, delicious food. My young kids love it. Crayons to write on the paper tablecloths, the food comes out quick, and the food is delicious. Everything we’ve tried has been really good, but our staples are Sesame Chicken, Shrimp with Vegetables, Chow Fun, and Tofu with Green Beans. At lunch, they’ll give you soup too.

Thanks to our HP Elite Angela, we have found our new take out Thai place. Yummy bowl is located downtown HP close to the bank. We ordered Ka-ree Curry and the Vietnamese Noodle dish. I was so impressed by the flavor of the yellow curry. It wasn’t over-powering and had a nice, creamy coconut flavor. The chicken was perfectly done and the rice very sticky(perfect). I loved the Vietnamese Noodle Dish. I also got the noodle dish with chicken. It was a large portion and tasted very fresh. Next time I will get extra veggies instead of the chicken as there weren’t a lot of veggies in the dish. I should note, that’s just a preference because my husband preferred having more chicken than veggies. I called in a take out order and the people on the phone spoke perfect English and gave very nice recommendations. I should note that this doesn’t necessarily have to be a take-out only place. The restaurant is quite large, very clean, and would be a nice place to have a sit down meal. It looks like a family run place and everyone in the restaurant looked happy. It was a very welcoming, clean restaurant with tremendous food! We shall be back…

It was quite the task of convincing my non-adventurous dining companions to check out a Thai place. Though I knew it would be delicious and they would end up loving it, they were skeptical. At first bite of the many apps and various entrees we ordered, I had won. The formerly disgruntled diners instantly changed tunes and left Yummy Bowl true Thai converts. I win. We started with the lettuce wraps, which came with wok-seared black mushrooms, water chestnuts, onions, and chicken. The combination of flavors that we dished into the large lettuce wraps was just right. The smokiness of the chicken with the savory notes of the mushroom complimented the sweetness of the onion and the plum sauce that was served alongside. Nothing beats the cold crunch of a lettuce wrap and the warm flavor packed insides. Next up were the veggie egg rolls. Though these strayed from traditional Thai, I must say they were a strong representation of an egg roll. While you’d think that something deep fried is hard to mess up, many restaurants fall short in terms of good egg rolls. Yummy Bowl knows what they’re doing. For entrees, we tried the pad thai, the red curry, and the thai chicken salad. We were very impressed with the pad thai. Oftentimes, pad thais lack the strong peanut sauce flavor that makes them so great, but the version at Yummy Bowl delivered some of the best pad thai I’ve tasted. The peanut sauce was noteworthy and the star of these noodles rather than a supplement on the sidelines. I’ve tasted a lot of red curry sauces in my days and after experiencing the red curry at Yummy Bowl, my usual favorite place has found some competition. I loved how pronounced the coconut flavor is in Yummy Bowl’s version and the creaminess is impressive. The thai chicken salad is what surprised the table the most. While salad is not typically something to rave over, the unique flavors of this salad made it a stand out. Everyone was loving the tang of the lemon juice and ginger with the classic peanut sauce flavor and added crunch of sprinkled peanuts. I crave this salad. The staff was attentive, thankful for the business, and certainly deserving of it. Thank you Yummy Bowl for spreading that Thai food love.

Simply the finest Chinese and Thai delivery on the North Shore. We have been ordering from Yummy Bowl for many years. We even enjoyed the previous Thai Image restaurant that has since merged with Yummy Bowl. As a GF/veg eater, Yummy Bowl offers a huge variety. My current favorite is the Vietnamese Bowl gluten-free with tofu. The gluten-free tofu fried rice made with brown rice and extra vegetable is also amazing. My kids love the veggie eggrolls. For an interesting dish try the egg foo young. Nobody makes it like Yummy Bowl. It is very light and fluffy. I have also enjoyed Tofu Pad Thai. We have only eaten in the dining room once as we usually have this food delivered to our house. Amazingly, we have rarely had to wait more than 20 minutes for delivered food and we live five minutes away. That means they cook the order and send it out immediately. Sometimes it arrives too hot to eat :-) The owner named Teresa is unbelievably helpful. She even provided her personal cell phone number if we ever had questions about the menu regarding gluten-free or other ingredients. This is much appreciated and shows how much she cares about her customers. If you are on a gluten-free diet, this restaurant is amazing and well deserving of your business. The final thing worth mentioning is that in all of our years of ordering we have never received a wrong order. The delivery drivers are always courteous. We rely on Yummy Bowl for quick delicious meals delivered shockingly fast.

Yummy Bowl’s somewhat misleading name, which would serve equally well for a soup kitchen or a yogurt bar, does little to convey the breath of its menu. Diners are presented with a surprisingly varied menu of dishes prepared in Chinese and Thai fashion. I have eaten there four times, alone and with family members, and have not had a bad dish. Last night’s dinner included crunchy finger-sized shrimp egg rolls, ginger shrimp, tofu with eggplant, and Pad Won Sein(sorry if that’s spelled incorrectly). Both brown and white rice were available. We all agreed that everything was as good as it could be and there was a picky eater st the table. The food is neither very cheap nor expensive, about what you’d expect in a suburban setting. Portions were generous. I would certainly send a friend there.

There’s a strange thing happening at our house lately. I’m not 100% sure what’s going on, but we’re going through a chicken fried rice thing. It used to be pizza(no not from here — ha) but now we’re into rice. In fact, it’s becoming so obvious, that the last time my hubby went in for a pick up the owner actually asked if there was anything else we’d like to try, since she noticed we’ve been ordering a lot of rice lately. We stick with rice because it’s easy, and my picky nine-year olds like it. I’m just happy to get them to eat, so why bother with anything else? The portion sizes are fantastic. Both my boys eat one order, and sometimes there’s a bit left over for me too. However, I’ve also been placing an order for rice. I used to order the cashew chicken dish, but I am sensitive to soy and get headaches when I eat things that have lots of sauce, so I prefer something simpler. Yummy Bowl is a family-owned restaurant where the owner will offer to make you anything to accommodate allergies, or make substitutions if you wish. They really get to know their customers and take great care to ensure they are satisfied. Quick service, always open(well so it seems), and consistent food… for the most part. The last two orders of rice were kind of a bummer, because there was barely any chicken. Funny, both times on a Sunday night. Do they run out by the end of the week? Otherwise, until my kids get burned out on chicken fried rice, you can probably guess what we’re having for dinner tomorrow.

I loved it! I’m on an endless search for Chinese food that isn’t extra greasy or bland. Finally, I have a reliable place, reasonably close to work. I really enjoyed my lunch today. For less than $ 8, I got soup, a crab rangoon, an egg roll, and my ginger chicken. The portions for lunch weren’t monstrous, but they were more than enough. Dining in was very comfortable. Their dining room is really large, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. I sucked my food down, and I was out of there in 20 minutes. I recommend Yummy Bowl over any other chinese/thai food i’ve tried in HP.

The 3 star rating of Yummy Bowl is a downright injustice! Yummy Bowl is the best Chinese food in both the eastern and western worlds. Period. I’ve even been to Japan and nothing compares to Yummy Bowl in Highland Park. The delivery portions seem bigger, but the décor is lovely so it’s worth it to dine in as well. Cheers! I don’t live in Highland Park anymore, but when I come to visit I always go to yummy bowl. If anyone knows of a comparable place in the city, please let me know. Until then I don’t think I will ever find something quite like yummies.

If you are up for a sit down meal for lunch(or take away) this is your best bet in HP. Great lunch specials are offered. For between $ 6.95 and $ 7.95 you get a cup of soup, eggroll, crab rangoon, white or brown rice and your choice of Chinese or Thai entrée. I usually go for a Thai entrée. I like spicy so I have ordered both the Thai chicken basil and the Hot and Spicy Noodles(no rice). The basil chicken is very good, I would prefer it a bit spicier but I continue to order it. The hot and spicy noodles are delicious. My new favorite! I have also had their chicken Pad Thai in the past but can not recommend it. Service is always friendly and prompt. While the restaurant is large somehow they still make it seem warm and cozy. They have some nice sectioned off areas that would be nice to host an event.

Our second time here, we again found no handicap parking nearby, but there are two spots reserved by signage at the far end of the block, too far for our party to walk, so once again, a drop off before parking. This time, it was on a Saturday just after the noon hour. No problem getting a table without a reservation. Decorations for the Chinese new year were still on the walls(it being the 6th day of the 15-day celebration overseas and would soon overlap into the Asian lunar new year as well). The much shorter luncheon menu offered several options that included soup, appetizer, and rice along with the entrée. Since we all went with that choice, no appetizers for the table were ordered. The hot tea was plentiful throughour our meal. One of us chose the bell pepper, tomato, and beef dish from the Chinese side of the menu, another the broccoli and shrimp from the Thai side. Both of these came with the same appetizer pair(crab rangoon and a Thai spring roll), both items were large and crunchy. Both also had your choice of 2 soups, egg drop or, what we all chose, the hot and sour, which was dense and properly spicy in flavor. We also got a choice of either steamed white rice or the healthier brown rice that was selected. Our third diner chose a dish that was large enough to share tastes of for all, the Thai chow fun, a variation on the Chinese stir fry of broad rice noodles with bean sprouts and other sliced veggies. Diner #3 chose tofu instead of the chicken, beef, or shrimp options as the main protein ingredient. This lunch dish is not offered with either the appetizer nor rice, just the soup. We all agreed that this menu item was excellent and worth ordering next time. Our waiter was personable and attentive, and together with the unobtrusive bussing person, made for a wonderful lunch experience. So having tried out Yummy Bowl for both dinner and lunch, we can confidently say that it’s a reliable place for a very enjoyable meal in Highland Park. But check it out on Google Maps ahead of time. Getting there ain’t that straight-forward for non– locals.

This is becoming one of my favorite Chinese restaurants & by far the best I have ate at in Highland Park. Even when I am not in the area I have driven 20 minutes with my friends just to eat here. For being in Highland Park you would think the prices would be a little bit more expensive but their lunch specials are amazing. You can get an entrée that comes with a soup, eggroll & crab rangoon for under $ 10. The food is absolutely delicious. The Mongolian Beef is probably my favorite & their fried rice was awesome. The staff was very friendly & they remember repeat customers. The restaurant is nice & big & there is plenty of seating for their lunch & dinner crowds & you don’t have to worry about waiting for a table. The place is very clean as well. Overall the service is good, the establishment is clean & the food is delicious.

Oh yummy bowl, how I wished to be in love with you considering you are sooo close to work. The run down on this place is that I always do carry out, they have a fantastic lunch special that for $ 7.00 you get a lunch entrée which includes a crab ragoon and an egg roll. Can I just get their crab ragoons and egg rolls because that is my favorite part of the entire lunch special. I’ve had a few entrees from here and I’m more of a fan of their Chinese stuff than their thai stuff. The pad thai is oh so below par, kinda eh, don’t love the sauce they use and the noodles are too wide in my opinion, and pad thai is one of my favorite thai dishes ever in general, just not here I guess. I do like the fried rice with chicken, it has tons of veggies and it’s not overly greasy, which is a plus. A lot of my co workers carry out from here because it’s just simple, cheap and an easy lunch fix. The place is huge inside and it’s semi busy during lunch time but there’s always empty tables so never worry about having to make reservations. However, as I said, it’s my go to carry out place if I want to spend under $ 10 for lunch time. It could really use a special thai chef to make their thai dishes a little more appetizing and a lot less bland. Yummy bowl gets a-okay from me!
