Great local addition with authentic Mexican cuisine in a non Mexican environment/town. I do not need a Groupon to come here and neither should you!

Lengua tacos were perfect. People were nice. Not pretentious — just good food. Wife’s fish tacos had huge chunks of nice-looking fish. Guacamole was so-so, but it could have been an off night. Everything else was great.

Was really looking to love this kitschy sounding place, but unfortunately, I didn’t. It is authentic looking on the inside, and there is funky little outside section. The one issue I have is that the place is way too expensive for what you actually get. Our dinner of 2 entrees and a guac appetizer was more than $ 50 with tip. That’s a lot for a casual Thursday night dinner. For similarly authentic fare, I would cruise on in to Casa Bonita in Libertyville for a more lively, stylish feel and a bit more tame prices. Or try Uncle Julio’s in Vernon Hills or Old Orchard for beautiful ambiance and authentic dishes with American twist. The second issue is the food itself. It was not bad, but it did not impress at all. There was no innovative presentation, or some funky ingredients that demanded prices we paid. So all in all, this is an average place with average food.

Food was spectacular and the service is great. They seated us almost immediately when it was very busy. Definitely going back.

MEXICANCUISINE Connoisseur for 36 years: Must try! ATMOSPHEREIS typical, colorful, with poorly done murals, but this hides what’s going on behind the curtain. Best Mexian cuisine I’ve had in years. Definitely in the Top 5. Maybe best ever… From the front of the house to the back of the house; the service, and quality, is what makes Casa de Isaac the best authentic mexican dining experience on the North Shore. The«Isaac’s favorite» margarita is fantastic! They also have an extensive wine list for those who prefer wine, but the tequila selection is second to none. Try house specialties duck taquitos(appetizer), and the lamb tacos. See you on the patio!

Very good Mexican food in Highland Park for dinner. The service is quick and nice. I love the salsa that they bring to the table. Perfect consistency and spice with the tortilla chips which come to the table hot and fresh. We started with the chicken enchilada soup and guacamole. The soup was really good, broth was super flavorful. The guacamole is some of the creamiest ones I ever had. I got the chicken enchiladas with guajillo sauce. The chicken was very tender and the tortillas were very fresh tasting. The sauce was the best part. Perfect amount of spice and the cheese was very gooey. I got the fried ice cream for dessert which I have been wanting to try. The coating on the ice cream was crispy and had a cakey feel to it which I liked. Very quick service at this place and everything that is on the menu is authentic and fresh.

This place is amazing! I’ve had it bookmarked for years and finally checked it out. The fun mix of Jewish comfort foods and Mexican cuisine is fun! The service is great and the food is cheap! Every single thing we ate was amazing. Tastiest things were the guacamole, mothers enchiladas, and lamb brisket tacos. Yummy!

This has nothing to do with the restaurant, but with Unilocal.i made a reservation for today and the restaurant is CLOSED. Who’s responsible for that?

Came here on a Friday night to hang out with one of my girlfriends. The drinks were average… food was average but good. I have super high standards when it comes to Mexican food. They had a dog in this restaurant. As we were finishing signing out tabs and leaving you could hear it barking. I asked the waiter«is that a dog in the restaurant?» He said, «yes.» I will never eat here again because of that. Last time that I checked animals are not allowed in restaurants. And definitely not near the kitchen area. It was clearly one of the staffs dogs. The service was very… Limited. It wasn’t that crowded… however, we would have to flag down our waiter just to have our drinks refilled, or for napkins. Or to finally place or order in general.

I really like this Mexican joint in the Northshore. They actually have a delicious salmon dish that’s one of my favorite. Super fresh guacamole and if you decide to come for breakfast they have a to die for Steak chilaquiles.

Guacamole you’re so fine, you’re so fine you blow my mind… and make me want to give you a million stars! Last night we went to a dinner party at a friend’s house. At the last minute we were asked to bring an appetizer. I don’t cook anymore. I can, and I’m a decent cook, but I just don’t take the time to make it a priority. In a panic, my hubby suggested guacamole and chips. I knew we were having chicken, so I figured it’s a great last ditch save. We picked up two large orders with chips(about $ 20). Let me tell you… it was the best $ 20 I’ve spent in a really long time! Chunky, fresh, salty, limey greatness. Isaac assisted us directly and recognized us from being out and about in the community. He is the sweetest guy with a fantastic memory. What do I want for dinner tonight? You guessed it! Just a big bucket of guacamole and chips. Note: Unilocal check-in offer for 10% off! Note: No pictures, because by the time I went to grab my phone we had devoured the whole batch!

I’ve gone to Isaac & Moishe’s restaurants for years and have never been disappointed. The service is always great and food is outstanding. I recently held a special event in the back room of the Highland Park location and could not have been happier with the results. Moishe was a pleasure to work with and the entire staff made sure the party came off without a hitch. Everyone had such a good time that I had a hard time getting the guests out of the restaurant long after the party was over and the restaurant was closed. Thanks, Moishe!

Here’s what you need to know: Isaac and Moishe serve the best Mexican food in the North Shore area, and beyond. No debating it! It’s not inexpensive, but reasonably priced for the Highland Park area. I love the La Casa restaurants. The food has never disappointed me in my dozens of visits — everything is made in house from scratch. The chips are fresh fried and served warm. The salsa is seasoned to perfection, and has layers of complex flavors… just divine. The guacamole is super fresh, well seasoned, and made to order. To be honest, you can have a great meal with just these items I just mentioned but you would be remiss if you didn’t have the mains. The star of the menu is the«mamma’s favorite» enchiladas with the tomatillo sauce. You get a choice of meat, but that’s less relevant. The key is the sauce — there is nothing more balanced, flavorful, and enjoyable in Mexican food that their gorgeous tomatillo sauce, which I could drink cup fulls of. The steak chimichanga is another favorite of mine, and a really good value at $ 11 — big and rich enough to be shared. The duck blue tacos are gourmet and approachable at the same time, and loaded with juicy flavor. The bar has some very high end tequilas if you’re in the mood to indulge and I love their refreshing Horchata as well. I like to eat at La Casa 4 – 6 times/year, and they earn my repeat business every time. A meal — sans drinks — will cost you about $ 20pp.

If you’re craving Mexican food this will not disappoint… On my most recent visit I ordered the vegetarian burrito. It’s quite large so I would recommend sharing or plan to bring half of it home. Although in my case I ended up picking at the 2nd half until it was too much of a mess to actually bring home. Like most Mexican restaurants they’ll start you off with a basket of chips and salsa. I’d also recommend their delish guac. And of course a Mexican meal isn’t complete without a margarita or two. Service is speedy and friendly. It’s a lively atmosphere, but they’ve never been too packed on the 3 times I’ve eaten there. Their brunch menu also looks good. I’ll have to try that next time!
