I recently ordered takeout from Highland Falls Market and was very unimpressed. The food was mediocre at best and particularly unhealthy. Came with a large side of fries, but even the fries were bland! Definitely better places for a sub/sandwich in town.

The Highland Falls Market is what passes as a supermarket in this town. Basically it’s like a corner store or bodega. Working at West Point I typically stick with a deli sandwich and chips. They have huge selection of sandwiches and this can be overwhelming all are available either as a sub or on a round roll. Coming from South Jersey I was looking for a hoagie, and was disappointed my first time. But I discovered that there is nothing like a hoagie outside of the Philadelphia region and started ordering the specialty sandwiches. My favorites include the Stallion, The Turkey Club, and the Buffalo Wing. The soups are very good. I avoid the chili which is spicy to the point of heartburn. The Chicken and Rice or Cream of Broccoli are excellent on cold days. The Hot lunch selection varies and is hit or miss. Sometimes I’ve been very pleased. The prices are more expensive than in other delis. This is a sad fact of the location. Being the only decent deli in a small town they can charge 7 bucks for a sandwich. However, if your choice is there or McDonald’s across the street why ever would you choose McDonald’s?

After visiting West Point, decided to get something to eat. Stopped at Highland Falls Market after seeing a big deli sign. Ordered three items: roast beef melt, qusidella and pasta special. Sorry to say, it was the worst food ever. Three items and one bottle ice tea was $ 35. My son wanted a small bowl of rice, they wanted $ 3.99, told him that that was too expensive. We should of gone to Mc Donalds across the street.
