This is the worst IHOPEVER!!! The food was warm approaching cold when we received it. We had no silverware on our tables. We actually had to remind our server that we needed silverware, and finally received the silverware shortly before our food arrived… so I had nothing to stir my coffee with all that time. My server who’s name I couldn’t remember if you paid me had the personality and slowness of a snail. But the point of no return is when my nephew-in-law had discovered he had hair in his food! He was done! Could not eat anything after that! He shows the server the hair in the food and tells him to take away the plate. The server comes back with another plate of the same items which he never asked for. We were all dumb-founded at this point. My nephew-in-law did not eat the food, needless to say. When I received the bill, I noticed that the server made no adjustment to the bill. Charged us for his meal, and never brought the situation to the managers attention… I’m guessing?! If the manager was made aware of this disgusting and embarrassing situation, he never let on to us that he knew. But then again, a place like this, in a hick town like Hickory… most people show up to work and think they’ve done their job! It gets better! I then approach the check out counter, and another«I showed up to work and now what do you expect» hostess, server, I’m not even sure who she was?! Asked me(drum roll) «I hope everything was okay or to my liking», something like that. I flat out told her NO! I informed her of what transpired, and how we were charged for the meal, and she says to me, «I’m not the manager, I’m not allowed to remove anything from your bill» I was in disbelief! I said to myself, where do they get these people?! How do folks get through an interview these days?! Once I was over my initial shock by her lack of consideration and her ineptness to handle this situation, I then said, «do you have a manager here?» Her reply, yes, would you like me to get him for you?! I told her«no.» At this point I was fuming! I knew I needed to walk away and never return! I’ll share my story on social media, and maybe, just maybe, someone with some sense will read this and shape them into place… start at the top with the so-called manager, then work your way through the whole entire staff! Good riddance to bad service and poor work ethics!

I’ve been back a few times since I wrote my three star review. Those times were generally in the wee hours of the morning around 3 – 5 a.m. Sometimes I have been the only person in the restaurant, and other times there were two or three diners(usually truck drivers.) The female maitre’d is gone, having been replaced by a laid back, goateed young man. One would think that he’s not paying attention, but he doesn’t miss a detail, and he gets the job done! Refills are not a problem. An older gentleman, about my age, is often there and he is the epitome of courtesy and professionalism. I have always assumed that he is either the general manager or the franchisee. As you would imagine, when he is on the scene the service and the food are exceptionally well done. Every meal that I’ve ever had here has been from very good to excellent. I always leave… stuffed. There are usually at least two HPD officers on site during the early morning hours. They are an unobtrusive, but welcome addition. There have been some late night revellers who were here at 3 a.m., but they don’t act up with the authorities sitting two booths away sipping on a cup of coffee. My only minor niggling negative comment, and it’s a small one, is that one should expect to spend $ 10 per person for each adult. That is if one is having an omelette. They have breakfast specials that are much less expensive though. I can’t seem to vary from either their Colorado or Steak omelette because they’re so huge and delicious. Another thing is that they charge a small fortune for a glass of OJ, and refills aren’t free. The coffee? Equivalent to convenience store fare such as a 7 – 11. I make better coffee at home, but then again, I clean my coffee maker after each usage. On Sundays they feed a several hundred, HUGE, pre and post church crowd, so large that there are usually zero parking spaces available. I have had Sunday brunch here where it was so crowded that one literally could not move, and the wait for food wasn’t excessive. If worst comes to worst on those busy days, and I am determined, I will park next door at the Barnes and Noble. All in all, I am a fan of this location, their management and cooks, and of course — their Colorado omelettes with a huge dose of Cholula hot sauce.

the food is average but the restaurant feels crowded, the wait for a table is LONG no matter when you go. The food takes FOREVER to get to you(I’ve waited over a half hour on some occasions), the coffee is NOT hot at all but tepid at best. The management and kitchen staff need to be replaced and retrained.

I normally don’t write reviews for large chains but I feel this is EXTREMELY well deserved. Our waitress, Mikiah, was probably the best I’ve ever seen. Very, very, very personable and gave really interesting suggestions on the menu. I’m from Florida and she has that wonderful southern charm and friendliness that everybody loves. I think she makes this IHOP.

Been here several times and the food is always good. However they seem short staffed and poorly managed. People are waiting for tables that haven’t been cleaned and the waitstaff seems anxious and harried as their names are shouted from the kitchen.

Service is usually great. The food is good but there’s sometimes a long wait. I was really looking forward to the coffee but it had a odd burnt taste to it. This is definitely a place to go eat if you’re looking for a deal.

Good food not so good service. We have eaten at this IHOP a number of times and service isn’t one of their strong points but the food is always good.
