Omg, I wish they’d straighten the racks, especially the magazines. I am not a fan of allowing bookstore patrons to lounge around and read. They get in the way and seldom buy anything, which annoys those of us who want to look, buy, and leave. People treat it like it’s a library but it’s a business, and an unhealthy one at that. I feel for magazine publishers whose work is read for free and returned for full credit. No wonder magazines cost $ 12 now.
This B&N is exactly what you’d expect of any other B&N in the country. To be honest prefer to shop at independent bookstores, but there aren’t any around Hickory anymore. I will say that the B&N are very friendly and have gone out of their way to help me — so five stars for them. I’m also grateful that there is a B&N in this community and the hours are nice-you can easily stop by after a 7pm movie or dinner. The coffee shop is fine with a Starbuck-ie vibe. The prices are a bit high and their drinks aren’t always made consistently. However, I had to admit bias because I favor locally owned coffee shops. This the best place to head though if you’re looking for coffee drinks after dark.

Books & coffee. Coffee & books. Does it get any better than this?
