I’ve been curious of trying out Ragin Cajun for years and although have been to numeorus other places in this area, I’ve never really had the chance to try this place out until recently The atmosphere of this place is pretty cute. There are definitely plenty of interesting things hung up on the walls. I got the blackened chicken lunch entrée. This came with cole slaw and hush puppies. The blackened chicken was huge! It was one large piece of chicken that I ended up splitting for my lunch and dinner to-go. They give only a little bit of cole slaw but they gave plenty of hush puppies. They gave about nine hush puppies. Plenty of food for $ 10. Tastewise everything was ok. The blackened chicken was on the spicy side. The cole slaw was so-so and I felt could’ve used more mayonaise or sauce. The hush puppies for me were the best part. Served piping hot, it was really good. Almost the majority of my friends who went got the red beans and rice with sausage and jambalaya. This was $ 7.50. I got to try a litle bit of my friend’s jambalaya. The red beans and rice were so-so but I did like the spicy sausage that came with it. My friends also got fried alligator for an appetizer but I didn’t want to try it. They claim it tastes like chicken. I was too«chicken» to try it out though lol. Ok place to go to for lunch although for me the food was just so-so. You definitely do however get plenty of food for good prices at lunch time. I would however check the bill before your pay. They accidently charged me the dinner price instead of the lunch price for mine. They quickly corrected this however.

I’ll be the first to admit, I don’t know a damn thing about cuisine acadienne(that means Cajun cuisine in French. Thank you Wikipedia!). My track record with anything remotely«Cajun» is Zatarain’s Jambalaya Mix in a box. What I DO know is this: Ragin Cajun has some crazy, crazy delicious eats! We started off with a bottle of Renwood Zinfandel(2006) for a whoppin’ $ 22. That’s a RED by the way. None of this white zinfandel crap. The spices of the wine were the perfect match for the fried alligator we ordered. The alligator was yummy but very chewy, similar in texture to a pig’s ear. When it was time to order, I inquired with our wonderful waitress Jennifer about the actual spiciness of their gumbolaya. She said it was sort of spicy but not unbearable and then offered to let me try it before I ordered it. Total score! She brought out a very generous sampling of the infamous gumbolaya. We tried it and that was it. Love at first bite! I had to have it as my entrée(with some hush puppies on the side for good measure). They only serve beer and wine, so my dining companion was a tad sad about that factor and I really wished they had corn bread on the menu, which they don’t. All things considered though, this is a great place to eat from time to time. Very reasonable pricing, MONSTROUS portions of food, a very laxed environment to hang out with your lovelies and incredible customer service. Laissez le Bön temp rouler!
