I brought my daughter hear to get her hair done, I believe this is a dads 3^rd favorite thing to do, JK. I must say that the owner and stylists are friendly and made my 2 plus hours of waiting go by fast. The BEST part my daughter loves her hair. Thanks to Nyisha

I booked an appointment for a Brazilian blowout for ¹²⁄₁₆. First she accommodated me on my work schedule. Second I love love love my hair. It cut down my time on styling my hair in half. She did a great job and she cared about what I was looking for. I would come back in a few months for a retouch!
The shop is clean and cute. It looks like all the stylists are great in what they do!!!
I highly recommend her!

Teresa cuts and colors may hair, red/​blonde which is very difficult. I get so many compliments its wonderful! The salon is easy going and the overall environment welcoming. I pay less here than the other salon up the street. The OTHER salon also colored my hair purple/​red, which i did not ask for and said it was red. My kids looked at me and honestly/​bluntly as always, asked why I had purple hair! Thats when I tried Marx Salon, walked in & Mark (the owner) referred Teresa, so I took a chance as nothing could be worse than the purple hair I was currently sporting around town and found that no one could do better. I am so pleased and I hope that everyone does not run in to see Teresa over this post or it will make it difficult to get in! But seriously if your looking for a hairdresser that colors hair really well, look no further, ask for Teresa at Marx!

I love love Nyesha she is not only sincere and down to earth does great hair! I been coming here 5 years and honestly nobody beats here quality or flyness… The whole staff is amazing and the owner Marx genius love watching him work… Great place… And when u walk out strut ur stresses at the most beautiful place in the South Bay ., Hermosa

I am from Redondo Beach, and my mom gets her hair done by Mark all the time. She suggested that I see him when I was in town, and I am SO HAPPY that I did.
I usually have a tough time figuring out exactly what I want done to my hair, but he was happy to play around with my hair and figure our what cut would look best. He cut it, styled it and sent me out the door in no time for $ 60. I plan on going back every time I visit!
As a side note, I wore my hair the way he suggested at work when I got back to SJ, where I live now… and I received nothing but compliments! Thanks Mark! :)

I had my BBO done there again, with Theresa, i was going to be in town, so i figured let me call and see if Theresa is available, and it was not hard at all to make the appoiment. I have to say she does the best job for Brazilian Blow-​out. This time two hours flew by, i was mentally prepare for it this time, but it is worth the time!!!

Had a cut and color here. Such a cute place! Everyone in there is always smiling which in turn makes me smile =)

Marx is such an adorable hair salon right by the beach! I absolutely love it. I started going here because I’ve been going to Daphene Brewer for years and followed her here. Daphene is absolutely amazing with color. I’ve been a million super-​pricey salons all over LA because I’m really picky about my color and once I found Daphene I’ve been going to her ever since.
I would definitely recommend this salon and of course Daphene!

I’ve been going to Marx for … forever! He gave me my first great haircut and I’ve been a loyal customer ever since. My entire family of women are Mark-​aholics.
Mark, the owner, is a shining star and he is amazing with short (women’s) hair. I’m a little sad that I’ve decided to keep longer hair these days as he always gave me the funkiest (but professional) haircuts. He’s great with color and I’m hesitant to let anyone else touch my lovely little head.
Why not 5 stars? I have to acknowledge that Mark is 5 star worthy — but the rest of his staff can be a little off putting to walk-​ins and new customers. Once in the chair, they are all capable and friendly — so make an appointment and you’ll likely get 5 star service!

I’ve been going to Elena at Marx’s for about a year and a half now, I always get hair cut & color and I love it. The color is top notch and the cut looks fabulous the day of the cut and a month later.
I mainly get my hair dyed my natural color to cover up the gray and after the first consultation she matched it exactly! When it grows out I don’t have nasty roots just gray hairs lol ! thats how close she gets it to my natural color, just amazing !
Since Elena has been taking care of my hair, it’s been healthy and growing like crazy. She manages to trim it and style it without loosing length. I will not go anywhere else.

I get my hair done at Marx by Nyisha. She is fantastic! She also tries different things, and takes her time doing my hair. I have never felt dissatisfied. I always get compliments on my hair and I love everything she does with it. I have short hair and I prefer cuts that allow me to do my hair quickly. Nyisha always gives me really cute, sassy cuts, which fits my personality :-) She is also an amazing colorist and always gives my hair a vibrant blonde color. Go see her!

I wish Marx Pier was better!!! I love the hair cuts that I get at this Salon but the prices, décor, and stylists keep me from returning. For a while they had a receptionist that was on roller skates, I wish she was as good at answering the phone as she was at skating around. I have stayed on hold for about 10 minutes waiting to set up an appointment.
I had been to Marx Pier at least 6 or 7 times since 2005. The cut/​color is always top notch. However last time my bill was about 220, although its not uncommon to pay this price I’m on a mission to find a comparable cut/​color for a better price especially since the service at Marx leaves much to be desired.
Since my last visit to Marx Pier I have been to 5 other salons and all have been pretty disappointing, but at least I don’t have to listen to my stylist gab about her latest one night stand on Hermosa Pier, totally not classy, if I spend the money I want to spend it on peace and quite or some decent conversation that doesn’t leave me hoping that you don’t have hand herpes or something else I can contract while getting a cut.
Another downside worth mentioning is the parking, its metered parking and the staff doesn’t offer to fill the meter for you, I had to leave the salon with highlight foil wrappers all over my head to feed my meter. That’s a small inconvenience but definitely something that I noticed.

I went there for the first time two years ago when a friend from work told me the secret to her amazing hair: she got it cut with Mark, from Marx Pier Avenue. It would look awesome after she got it cut and continue to look great for months after that. So I went there to check it myself and I LOVED it.
Mark is an artist, he should be cutting celeb’s hairs. He is just an expert in hair. I mean this so much, that I have taken my best friend and my mom there and now they could never go anywhere else…

Although I don’t live down here, I visited this salon one morning to get an up-​do for my girl friend’s wedding. Nadine was our wonderful, friendly, talented stylist. She listened, provided input, and gave us great looking up-​dos that didn’t look the same, which is great since my girl friend was the bride. She also does hair extensions, color, and make-​up! She was pretty fast, didn’t plaster my hair onto my head, yet my up do lasted the whole day and night and looked great! I’ve uploaded pics. She put the pins in gently, didn’t stab my scalp with them and only use like 15. I was amazed at the look she gave me since my straight hair never holds a curl all day.
The salon itself was a very nice, modern but comfy space with a few stylists working in there on a bustling Sat morning. The receptionist was in roller skates, super cool. I just hoped she didn’t fall in them, those youngsters these days. The clients were a mix of men, women, and also a cute family where one of the daughters got her hair trimmed while sitting on her mom’s lap.
If I lived down there, I would definitely go to this salon and see Nadine to get my hair cut and then spend the rest of my day shopping, eating, and at the beach on Pier Ave.
