I have been here a few times and it is one of my favorite places to dine. The quality of the food is always excellent and service has been great. The chef is from Italy and it shows in his cooking. A true gem of a place! The lobster risotto melts in your mouth, the seafood is all so fresh. I love how they have various fishes of the day and you can choose your sauce. I love the white bean spinach sauce with founder. Delicious ! I lived in Italy for 8 months so coming to Angela’s for dinner remind me of my time in Italy. My friend always gets the osso buco it looks incredible as well. I like that they give you a nice salad to start with each entrée. Their caprese mozzarella appetizer is always a big hit too as the cheese tastes homemade. Can’t wait to go back again !

Compared to our last visit, the service was much better. The food was very good but it still has a chaotic, stressful atmosphere. If the chef wasn’t yelling from the kitchen(something that went out of style in the 80s — even in NYC), the hostess wasn’t so angry and the servers weren’t running around seemingly unorganized(and being yelled at), I think the price would be worth it. However, the price tag is high for this food and atmosphere. While the food is good, authentic, quality food, I would expect a more refined feel to the place. Italian fine dining — not dive diner yelling.

I’m giving them 2 stars because of the service and the food was very salty. The good news is its definitely authentic and has a homemade flavor but heavy on the salt on both of our entres. The portions are huge and the prices for the regular menu items is moderate $$. The hostess is kind of dismissive. The place is very small yet we didn’t see the server much so in asking the hostess could I add something I actually had to interrupt her and one of the cooks conversation and they were bothered by it. I’m standing there for a while while my food is getting cold, standing, yes I had to get up to get service. A co-worker of mines swears by this place for its authentic Italian food. It is, but the service definitely needs a bump. But the good news is that can be corrected and the main thing is the food has its niche.

This is the best in no nonsense, authentic, neighborhood Italian food. You can smell the garlic out in the parking lot, while still inside of your car. The menu is enormous — you are guaranteed to find something that you want. The only thing bigger than the menu is the portion sizes — you get easily two meals with each entrée. Add in a great wine selection and décor that will make you think you have traveled back to the Bronx in the 30s and how can you go wrong?

Angela’s is our favorite Italian restaurant! Family owned, amazing food, great friendly staff! We dine about once a month. Honestly we have never had a bad dish. Gnocchi w/meat sauce is my personal favorite. My fiancé loves the moneyballs and lasagna! This is a must try in Richmond!

I’ll give it 1 Star because I like the food. That’s where it ends. The hostess was rude and dismissive. The waitress could’ve cared less if we were there or not. There were 4 in our party and at $ 20+ a person I feel that’s enough to warrant better service. Although, I’ve eaten at other places with fewer people in my party and received better service. Food taste can only carry you so far– it’s the service that brings you back and I won’t be.

This is a pretty solid restaurant. We’ve eaten there w/friends and the pasta dishes that I’ve had were all really quite good. The last visit was the best service that I’ve had there. Perhaps the proper word would be friendly service. Each time we’ve been in the food has been absolutely consistent. I had my favorite Italian meal(Linguine w/White Clam Sauce) I can recommend the eggplant parmigiana and the lasagne, too. One of the things that’s really nice is how easily you can carry on a conversation. It has a cozy, comfy section that is quiet for a Richmond restaurant.

We really wanted to like this place because it’s right in our neighborhood and we love Italian, but months after our first visit, neither of us have had the inclination to return. I had the Shrimp Ala Angela and it was WAY too salty. I knew it had ham, so perhaps that was my error in ordering. Husband had one of the shrimp linguine dishes and was equally not a fan of his sauce. The house-made dressing on my salad was very delicious. We ordered dessert, but I can’t remember what it was(not a good sign). The service was pretty unfriendly. We had a female server who acted as if we were an inconvenience. I also got the feeling she was really annoyed that we didn’t order alcohol and gave us less attention because of it. I watched her act much friendlier to the couple at the table behind us, but maybe they were regulars. This place has a neat neighborhoody-type vibe, but the food just wasn’t for us, especially at $ 20+ for an entrée. I watched a lot of people come in and pick up pizzas, so maybe that’s the way to go.

First visit and we went specifically for the pizza after a recommendation. It is a comfortable neighborhood place that has a lot of repeat business and a lot of take out orders. The seating is tight but arriving early we sat in a booth which was tight for 4 with food on the table. The house salad was fresh and delicious as were the rolls. The pizza was a great crust, so so sauce, good cheese, bland pepperoni and sausage. The first challenge was having a large pizza on a small table with 4 adults. Our server was very good and we managed very well to enjoy our pizza. For dessert we had a plate of 3 Crème puffs covered in a light chocolate sauce with whipped crème and drizzled with dark chocolate which was wonderful and enough to share. We will be back to try some of the delicious dishes we saw coming from the kitchen!

Plain and simple: Mediocre food, mediocre service, WAY overpriced for what you get. Woman at cashier desk(manager?) was brusque and unpleasant. Can’t see a reason to return.

Angela’s is my favorite locally owned Italian restaurant. I can’t believe I never wrote a review. I love the food and have been going for many years after being introduced to it by others. Angela’s is a very intimate restaurant with top quality food prepared in an open kitchen. The food is consistently fresh and delicious. I think most of the customers are long time, repeat customers from the local area. If you don’t know about it you are missing out. It can get busy on the weekend(Friday/Sat/Sun) at peak dinner times because it is a small restaurant– so use common senses when planning dinner. My favorite meal is the Seafood Provencal. I crave it from time to time and have to get exactly that. Words can not describe how great it is to me. You just have to try it. The spicy version is the Seafood New Orleans. You get two seafood options of either shrimp, scallops or calamari. Real scallops, not the tiny ones you get in chain restaurants. One of the specials I love — a lobster and lump crab meat dish served over pasta(or spinach) … the cream sauce is just perfection to me! I savor each bite of every meal and always have something left over to take home because the portions are generous. There are usually great specials and a nice dessert selection as well. Angela’s has a nice wine list and now serves liquor as well. I have never been disappointed in my entrée choice, nor has anyone I have attended with.(A few years ago I had a birthday dinner here and everyone was very happy with their food and some who are still in the area have returned.) On a side note, one of the older reviews is soooo comical because it comes from an egotistical fraud who broke his word and took another female to MY restaurant of choice he only knew of because of me. He was reminded of it because he was at my brother on law’s barbershop… which he still visits but previously bashed as well. I think that’s called irony. I ALWAYS have great service and a warm greeting from everyone.

I have not eaten in the restaurant, and I’ve had only one thing off of the menu(carry-out), but let me tell you about that thing. It was a large cheese pizza, and it was good. Really good. Chewy crust with some crunch on the end. Mozzarella generously layered on. A tomato sauce so good I’d lick it off of your face. Highly recommended.

I had a similar first impression to a couple of previous reviewers — we were not greeted or seated by the hostess(but the chef did welcome us, so that was nice), the inside was outdated and smelled a little off, and our waitress lacked any real expression or interest, for the most part. She was pretty efficient though, so I can’t really complain much. We went on a Sunday and it wasn’t that busy, most other customers were quite old. Based off this and a lack of many reviews despite this place being around for a while, I guessed that the restaurant doesn’t get a lot of new visitors. It worried me a little, but the night was not so disappointing, thankfully! In a word, our meal was kind of pricey. One appetizer, two entrees, and two glasses of wine came out to $ 99 with tip included. Not a meal I can afford often. The food was overall quite good… –stuffed mushrooms app: good, not great. Lots of stuffing and practically no mushroom in sight… not usually what I’d expect, but I was wishing to taste more of the mushroom. –gnocchi & white truffle cream sauce with scallops: YUM. The sauce had diced tomatoes and a bit of spiciness that just made the flavor really pop. The scallops were large and in charge. The serving was huge and we had plenty leftover. –money bags!: weird name, but the ricotta and pear filled pasta was largely talked about, and for good reason. I generally avoid this sort of thing but I’m glad I didn’t… the pasta was outstanding. Savory with a slight sweetness in each bite, perfect. I was disappointed that it came with tons of sauce but not that much pasta. There was more crab meat than pasta(so generous with the crab, no lie) For the price, I would expect to be more impressed. I still think it’s worth a try though, the menu is very extensive and there are tons of seafood options to choose from. Despite being outdated, it was possibly charming(but I’m a nostalgic person anyway… sometimes I get tired of bright lights and flashy modern restaurant furnishings). I will return here, but probably not until my wallet fattens up some more.

Wow! We recently moved to Westham and were excited to try Angela’s as most of the reviews were excellent. We walked in and the initial impression was that it needed a facelift, lots of dark wood, antique styled mirrors, a lattice covered sky light… We were initially greeted by a chef from within the kitchen who was very friendly. Regardless of the décor, we had high hopes. Then the mid twenties waitress that seemed completely disinterested proceeded to meander us through the restaurant to find a table. It was myself, my wife and our three year old son. We were seated and began to peruse the menu. My wife chose linguini with clam in white sauce, my son had the children’s cheese pizza and I opted for the lasagna. For drinks it was a half carafe of Pinot Grigio for my wife and a Peroni for me. The Peroni was fine, chilled nicely. My wife’s glass carafe looked as if there were mold spots on the inside. I pointed it out to my wife but she did not want to make an issue of it. I joked that the alcohol likely killed any bacteria. Our meals arrived, my wife let me know her clam dish was very good. I tried my lasagna, starting with the cheesy edges with a little bit of sauce. The sauce tasted like it came from a can, just like ragu, flavorless. Then I dug deeper into the lasagna and discovered a slab of unmelted ricotta cheese sitting under one layer of noodles and on top of FIVE layers of lasagna noodles with NOTHING between them. I asked my wife, who is an excellent cook, if she’d ever seen a recipe that called for this configuration. She acknowledged she hadn’t. I couldn’t eat any more of the lasagna so I tried my son’s pizza. To me it tasted like someone accidentally put a drop of detergent in the cheese or the sauce. $ 67.00 plus tip later we were out of there. My wife would not allow me to complain. Was this an off night? The waitress was without personality, the décor is prehistoric, the odor of the restaurant is moldy, the food was indelible and expensive. I noticed an inordinate number of take out orders and an average clientele age of approximately 75. The proximity to our new home is ideal. Short of that, this restaurant was a tremendous disappointment.

Seriously? Terrible. The hostess tilted her head to were you could sit, the waiter was slow, the salad was lettuce with a slice of tomato on top with 1 olive. I ordered broiled stuffed veal chopped that was not stuffed nor broiled? Over cooked fatty seasoned only with black pepper for $ 36 I expected better. My husband who isn’t as fussy said it sucked! Sad!

My dad used to live close by so we would come here for dinner sometimes. Now that I live in Richmond, I am glad to have Angela’s close by to me. I have had a number of their dishes over the years and have always enjoyed my meal. Most recently, we had their pizza, which DH proclaimed to be one of the best pizzas he has had outside of NYC. They get very crowded/busy, particularly on the weekends. So if you are going to be a party of 5 or more, I would recommend a reservation.
