I’d not been in O;Charley’s for at least 16 years, maybe more. BIG mistake. The food was great, the service prompt, the selection quite large, but nicest of all is the mountain isolation. None of the frantic traffic of Tunnel Road but all the access. I never get dessert but glad I did. Lemon Meringue Pie. Worth every calorie! My friend from Boston loved her battered fried fish. It’s hard to please Bostonians with fish. I had a burger. Perfect. But the biggest surprise was the large side salad that practically saluted me from the plate it was so fresh. I was my newspaper’s restaurant critic before I retired and wished I could go back for a 2nd meal and write a column on this place. Yes, standard American food, but done right. That is worth a mention.

Wasn’t that great this time sorry to say. Their drinks are great, but their food seems to be just average. Ordered nachos for an appetizer & had to send it back as there wasn’t much on it. It wasn’t sad that the kitchen even put it out to send to a table.

I am a regular customer. The food has always been decent and the service is always pleasant. Whenever there has been a problem, management has been there to fix it. Thank you. O charleys.

I like to give good reviews but this time I cannot. If I could give it a minus star I would do so. I ordered the spinach& artichoke dip that came with tortilla chips and I ordered an entrée but the problem was the dip. The chips were stale and the dip actually tasted like it came out of a can. Truly awful. I sent it back. My father ordered the loaded potato skins and they came looking like they scooped the skins out and kinda forgot to put anything back in them. Perhaps they had a new appetizer person in the kitchen. Well, we happened to be sitting next to the Manager and someone from corporate. The corporate man was taste testing all kinds of different foods. The food he was being served looked amazing. Not the case at our table. I suggested to him that he might want to taste the spinach & artichoke dip so he did. He said that they didn’t add enough artichokes. I’m guessing that he didn’t get stale tortilla chips. When my father got his potato skins my mom decided to take them over to the managers table and ask them if they looked loaded to them. The manager said no and that they would get him a proper order. By this time, if I were the manager, I would have comp’d the corrected dish which was fine… but not outstanding. And as a final note, the bill was wrong. Took our waiter twice to get it fixed. Overall, I’m sure we were the table from hell. We were polite but I guarantee that I will never go back nor can I recommend O’Charleys. A waste of money and time.

I like to eat, most of the time at home, but sometimes nothing will do but a great burger and when that urge strikes the best burger in Hendersonville is at O’Charley’s. The meat is fresh, hand-formed, lightly seasoned and invariably cooked to perfection. Wimpy would be in heaven, and if you know who Wimpy is you’ll beat a path to this place post haste. I like fish and chips, too. O’C’s has a plank of fish that will fill that want as well. In fact, I haven’t found a bad item on the menu yet. Our waiter today was Zach, and he was right there — attentive, engaging, just what you wish more wait staff could be. Our half and half iced tea was perfect and Zach kept it coming. Again, we’ve never had a negative experience here which is why we go back regularly. It gets busy. Go early.

This location is hit or miss. They have some good cooks and some bad cooks. The hand battered catfish was good but everything else was bland. My wife got the black bean burger and it needed some seasoning bad. My daughter got the bayou shrimp. It looked and tasted like a freezer dinner. My son’s chicken tenders were over cooked so we sent them back. They came back looking better, but the chicken was tough. I believe they took the breading off and re-battered it. My child’s meal is just as important as my own. The manager took it off the bill. The service has always been good. The problem lies in the kitchen.

Free pie Wednesday. The food is good for corporate crap. The service is what keeps me coming back. Always smiling and hasn’t screwed up an order to date.

We sent editors Tonya and Dennis to O’Charleys in Hendersonville for a much deserved break from long hours living with Sony Vegas Pro. Our regular eating spots downtown there were slammed by the Apple Festival and OCharley’s was far enough away for them to dodge the crowds. Except for a screaming infant nearby, lunch was a success thanks to some very good prime rib,(thank you, kitchen crew!) huge baked potatoes, and, of course, super-server, Carol. We’ll all be back. And, be sure to ask for Carol on your next visit.

Nice décor and a design but alas, it is typical chain food. Tolerable but doesn’t give me a reason to return. They have one of those menus that has pictures of the menu item, just point at what you want to order. Ordered soup but it was pasty and returned it on looks alone.

It had been a long time since I had dined at an O’Charley’s, but this O’Charley’s was open on a rainy Sunday night & was nearby our hotel so stopped. Our good fortune, indeed. We received a cheery greeting and were seated promptly. Our server Mark was very personable and knowledgeable about the menu selections & gave us great service. Hot rolls just out of the oven. Mark helped me decide on the«cowboy sirloin» over another choice. I will say this… for my palate this sirloin steak(medium, juicy, & tender) was seasoned so well that I MUST go back to a local O’Charley’s soon just to see IF it will be as good. Moreover, I recently paid far more for a strip steak au poivre at a very nice local restaurant… I cannot say WHICH I ENJOYEDMORE, but the«cowboy sirloin» was the bargain of the two. Although I did not declare this to be one of the best meals I’ve ever had in a restaurant, my steak on this visit certainly exceeded ALLMYEXPECTATIONS! It is also one of the two best steaks I’ve has so far in 2013. Also the manager was very busy seeing that all guests were being served well and well satisfied with their meals at the restaurant… he checked with us twice during the evening. The restaurant also features«FREEPIE on WEDNESDAY with a meal» which Mark said that particular O’Charley’s was extremely committed to customer satisfaction and that management at this location would offer free pie to those just getting a sandwich or even a cup of coffee.

We visited O’Charley’s a week ago and were immediately surprised that the place didn’t have much of an Irish flare to it with its menu and décor; instead, O’Charley’s is just a run-of-the-mill family establishment in the vein of Applebees or Claim Jumper. That’s not necessarily a bad thing if you are taking a large group with differing tastes. I had the nachos(appetizer) and they hit the spot. My wife had the pot pie and enjoyed that as well. Our biggest hangup with O’Charley’s was our waiter. When we ordered our drinks, my wife and I asked our waiter what the local beer selection was(since the menu instructs, «ask your server for list of local beers.»). He not only had no idea what they were, but he then proceeded to tell us about how the management doesn’t communicate well with the staff when it comes to what beers the restaurant stocks. True or not, it was not the best representation of the restaurant and left a bad first impression.

The menu has some nice items on it and is much better than Applebees. I stopped in for lunch today and got the Pot Pie … it was VERY nice and I WILL be getting that again. The Pot Pie was large, came hot and steamy and loaded with white meat chicken and veggies. BEWARE: the booths are small and there’s not enough room between the seat and the table top, to be comfortable.
