After the second or third time, I paid $ 5 for a couple of stick of wood for fire and buying char coal to feed by grill/​fire pit. I found Villarreal Ice House. It’s not much to look at from the outside, just a typical road house establishment, but they a wonderful people.
Great place to get a couple of stick for a camp out or pick-​up load for the house.

Was in the mood for a nice fire on Saturday with the rain and cold weather. So went to Villarreal and picked up a 50lbs worth of firewood here for $ 16! What a deal! This is better than most other places. Make sure to talk to Cynthia and bring cash.

Helotes, TX
A nice bit of old Texas not too far outside of San Antonio. Just beer, a few snacks, and firewood sold in a cement floor building. The husband and wife owners immediately make you feel like old friends. It’s open when it’s open. Sometimes they have live music.
A great place to stop for a beer after spending a day at Medina Lake or Bandera.
The location is not showing up correctly in Google Maps. Mapquest seems to have it correctly placed…
