I love this place and cannot say enough good things about it! Gable’s is a really cool local ice cream shop in Helotes. The place is really cute and clean inside. After noticing the adorable design I really appreciated the excellent customer service. I was warmly greeted and the person that helped me explained how the whole thing works and showed me all the different cookie options that are available. I chose to order a slider since I like to start off by getting whatever a place is known for. You basically pick 2 of any combination of cookie or rice crispy patty to go along with a scoop of ice cream. If you don’t want a slider you can also get a brownie or cookie slice with ice cream. I personally really loved the cinnamon ice cream, it is delicious! The cookies are freshly baked and amazing but haven’t tried any of the other options yet. I tried the snickerdoodle and chocolate chip walnut cookie and loved them both. They also do floats, milkshakes, Mexican hot chocolate(yum), and more. I noticed also that they offer catering which I thought was a really cute idea for a party. I’m really excited about this place and can’t wait to come back and try something else!

Be prepared to come back weekly for these delicious treats. My boyfriend and I have tried every combination of cookies and ice cream(called«sliders») along with their rice Krispy treats, brownies, etc. Staff is friendly, location is always clean, parking is close, and they have a loyalty card — buy 10 sliders get 1 free! Plus they have a chalkboard where kids and adults can put their amazing artistic drawings.

My family visited Sunday evening after a day at Fiesta Texas. It was love at first bite. So many choices! You’re toughest decision is what to try first! They make multiple flavor brownie bowls with multiple flavor ice cream. Several cookies loaded with fillings and Rice Krispy treats, fruity pebbles and cocoa Rice Krispies. They also offer shakes and other items. But trust me the Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches are definitely worth the try! My husband had the Rice Krispy and Snickerdoodle with cookies and cream ice cream. I had the fruity pebble treat and double choc chunk with birthday cake ice cream. My son had the m&m and choc chip cookie with vanilla ice cream. We all enjoyed and can’t wait to return to try more concoctions!

The service here is great, if you compare it to Baskin Robbins, it leaves BR in the dust because there service is terrible across the country. The cookies are 4 star, there are a lot of better softer cookies that I have had. The ice cream is good, the brownies are outstanding. The interior is pretty big and nicely done. I think if you coming here I would recommend trying brownie instead of cookies.

Yummy cookie sandwiches. You pick the cookies and the ice cream and they will make you a delicious sandwich. They have blue bell ice cream in all the favorite flavors. For the outside, you can choose from any flavored cookie to rice Krispy cookies. Great dessert or snack.

The sliders were good, lots of combinations and choices on cookies and ice cream. I had the sugar butter cookie and strawberry shortcake cookie. My only complain would be that the short cake cookie was pretty tough to bite into when including it in a slider, I basically had to break pieces of the strawberry shortcake to eat it. The sugar butter cookie was fine on the other hand, pretty soft to bite into. The service was great, the staff was friendly and welcoming.

Cookies and ice cream… Love the concept! ! Prices are great and everything was clean. Got an ice cream slider and enjoyed the peanut butter cookie with cinnamon ice cream. The butter sugar cookie was just OK as it hard and difficult to eat. I would have had a perfect experience if I’d chosen two peanut butter cookies. Sometimes you get an old cookie… Or that’s the nature of the sugar cookie. I’m willing and ready to go back and try some more combinations.

Blue bell ice cream served on hard cookies. I even smashed up my cookie into the ice cream in hopes it would soften it up… but no. The only reason I didn’t give it one star was because the server was really friendly, my kids were able to draw on the chalkboard, and they had a variety of different Blue Bell flavors.

The staff is so friendly and make sure you know exactly what to do with these sandwiches. Such a unique little place to treat yourself. The combinations are endless. Just wish it wasn’t so far from me.

Let me start off by saying, 5 stars doesn’t do this place justice! Between the wonderful customer service, the warm brownies and cookies, the delicious ice cream choices(spumoni is A+!), and the retro sodas nobody can compete!!! It was 20 minutes before close, the wife and I had never been so we decided to pick some up and go, that wasn’t the case! Instead of being greeted by angry employees because we walk in last minute, Cesar welcomed us with open arms! He explained the procedure since he could tell we were first timers, let us try any ice cream we wanted and even gave us pointers! He invited us to sit and enjoy our treats, and was even sad when we were leaving despite it being closing time! It’s hard to find such amazing customer service these days and it doesn’t go unappreciated!!! Thank you so much for the wonderful experience, you certainly have repeat customers on your hands now!

Came here around 10:30 and they close at 11, so we were just going to grab our ice cream and bounce. However, Cesar invited us to taste test all 16 flavors, explained every single option that we could possibly imagine when it came to customizing our ice cream experience, and even invited us to sit down and take our time! Even though he and his crew were cleaning up he didn’t mind. When we were ready to leave, he invited us to stay longer if we wanted! Some of the most amazing customer service I’ve ever experience!!! Now let me get to the ice cream! I chose a warm chocolate brownie topped with a scoop of banana split ice cream! AMAZING!!! If you are looking for ice cream YOURWAY, in an old fashioned atmosphere, with amazing customer service, then this is the place for you!!!

Choose your cookies, choose your ice cream, and watch them be gently pressed into a sandwich. Bowl, wax paper, and spoons are provided if you’re worried about the mess, or you can dive in for a nostalgic experience. Tasty, fresh cookies with plenty of options for both cookie and ice cream.

We decided to look for a place for a small sweet dessert for my birthday. Gable’s had really good reviews, so we decided to go with them. It’s a cute little place with sort of 50’s theme to it. I thought it was very neat that they had a picture of the owner and founder on the wall wth a little info about him. It was a very comfortable place. We each ordered a cookie and ice cream sandwich. They were very good. I ordered a chocolate chip and sugar cookies with the birthday cake ice cream(well it was my birthday). My girlfriend ordered chocolate chip cookies with vanilla ice cream. My sister ordered a rainbow Krispy treat with We all agreed that it was really good! The only thing, we wished the cookies were a little warmer and softer. Other than that it was perfect. Also I thought it was very sweet of the guy working to not charge me for mine for my birthday. If we ever return to San Antonio I’ll definitely be giving this place a try

Fan? Yes, I am. Hey that rhymes! Alright, all Dr. Seuss-isms aside. I love Gable’s. It’s a very inexpensive way of having dessert and having two delectable sweets into one: an ice cream sandwich. My favorite combination: peanut butter cookie one side, carnival cookie on the other, and chocolate ice cream. Yes, you don’t have to limit yourself to just one flavor of cookie — you can have two different flavors if you like! They also have snow cones, candies, and drinks available. And if you eat there often enough, you might want to ask for a frequent customer card. Free wifi is also available.

My partner and I cannot stop talking about this place. We have been here a few times now and spend most of our hungry time wishing we could go back. Normally, ice cream sandwich places nail the cookie OR the ice cream. They very rarely perfect both the cookie AND the ice cream. Gable’s does a great job of producing a quality ice cream sandwich by perfecting both parts of the concoction. First off, the cookies are soft and baked in house. I prefer a classic sugar cookie as it is sweet, soft, and buttery and seems to melt the ice cream at just the right pace as you eat your way through it. The ice cream is very creamy and sticks together well in between the cookies. They also offer some unique flavors that pair well with their cookies. Off the top of my head, the cookie choices include: sugar, snickerdoodle, peanut butter, white chocolate macadamia, chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, and a candy filled one. They also have rice crispy cookies and brownies if you are into that sort of thing. Additionally, the ice cream flavors included: vanilla, chocolate, cookies and cream, coffee, a few pecan flavors, and some weird colorful kids flavors. This list is not all inclusive and I have seem some options change since the first time I came here. The price is very good at $ 2.95 a sandwich and this is a great reason to come back for more. The staff are good and interact with the customers throughout the ordering and eating process. I hope this place does well and I look forward to going back.

Very cute sweet shop! Spacious and well lit area to enjoy ice cream sliders. I tried the vanilla sandwiched between two strawberry shortcake cookies. The cookies were slightly on the harder side than I would have liked but still tasty. They also have other baked goods like brownies and pops!

Pretty awesome since they don’t close until 10 or 11 depending on which days. I love the concept of building your own ice cream sandwiches. I had the white chocolate macadamia nut cookie with praline ice cream, good combo.

Excellent price, quality and service. Small, neat place kind of like a 50’s diner, they have fresh baked cookies, all your favorite flavors of ice cream, ice cream floats, and several nostalgic bottled sodas and candies. Had to get some cream soda. Took my 2 kids and wife here, spent $ 16 — way better deal than any of the chains you can go to, and better service and quality. Very glad we found this place and will definitely be back.

When we first entered we were greeted by a sweet lady and she asked us if we’d ever been. Since we have not been here before she explained how it worked. It’s rather simple to order. Each of my family member ordered a «slider» which is two cookies with ice cream sandwiches in between. The cookies were delicious and the ice cream was great too. The lady explained since they usually used blue bell ice cream some of their advertised flavors were not available. The eating process was a tad messy but they are served in a bowl and spoons are readily available. The bathrooms were clean which is always an added bonus when you have kids. For 5 sliders we paid about $ 15. We would have easily doubled that total at a fro-yo place, so I was happy and we will be back.
