As a lover of red Zins, Seghesio is the gold standard I judge all others by. Once I moved to California, one of the first things I did was visit their beautiful facility and I was immediately impressed not only by many of the wines you can only get on-site, but by their wonderful staff. I joined their wine club(well worth it) and learned about one of their big annual events, their Zin &BBQ Festival. The event looked like such an experience I decided to ask my now-fiancé to join me for our first date. Almost a year later, we returned for their food and wine-paired lunch. Unbeknownst to my girlfriend, I intended to propose. I called ahead to Seghesio, where Stephanie Smith helped me plan the perfect experience. Once we arrived, we met the lovely Joyce, who as our guide and my co-conspirator, helped make an already special day even more memorable. Joyce, you’re the best! I can rave about the lunch and meticulously paired wine, which was exquisite, but what I appreciate most about Seghesio is that it’s not just the culinary experience you come here for, it’s the family-like customer experience that will keep us coming back. The tour, the special setting, the celebratory prosecco, the amazing lunch, the special wine gift and best customer care; I can’t thank all of the Seghesio Staff enough for what you did for us. We can’t wait to see you all again at your next event!

I love this place! The wine is spectacular, I visit here every Spring and always ship a case home. Their staff is always friendly and knowledgable and they go the extra mile when you ask for something different.

What a beautiful site! If you’re wine tasting on the square in Healdsburg, you have to make the short trek up Grove Street to Seghesio winery. It’s a lovely site to visit. There’s comfortable outdoor seating which is perfect for a summer day. The tasting room is roomy and can accommodate large groups easily. The tasting fee is $ 15, but waived if you purchase wine. Gary was our host and he was fantastic. Very friendly & knowledgeable staff… and of course the wines are delicious, esp the Zinfandel varietals.

Visited Seghesio on an overcast Saturday for the $ 75 family lunch tasting. Upon arriving we were greeted by a very friendly and helpful staff and started almost immediately tasting. Overall, the chef, the presentation and the tour were 5 stars and I’d recommend. Tour & Ambiance: 5 stars. The tours takes you through the history with all the different family stories. The downstairs private room is beautiful with all the redwood. The chocolate truffles at the end were superb! Food: 5 stars. The courses are smaller and are served in pairs along with the wine. The food and wine pairing is perfect. Wine: 2 stars. For the quality and price, I wouldn’t buy Seghesio’s wine and this pains me to say and have this rating. I didn’t keep my tasting notes but overall I was underwhelmed by most wines and had to pour out nearly all. I love Italian wine that is bold and balanced and I just didn’t have that experience at Seghesio

It’s a nice place to check out when in Healdsburg. They have a good variety of wine; some I liked while some I really didn’t. It’s easy to get to and doesn’t take a trip into the country to access. A larger group got a bit rowdy while there and the staff handled it very professionally and quickly. This isn’t a bar, it’s a wine tasting room. I’ll bring out of town visitors here as we have a fun day in Healdsburg.

We had a great day at Seghesio! Six of us joined in for the family table lunch. It included a tour of the barrel room, follows by a seated pairing. The wines were outstanding. A great mix of complex wine across numerous varietals. My husband especially likes bigger wines and so this was a huge hit. The food pairings were amazing. The chef did an outstanding jon crating meals that for each wine. It was an appetizer portion of five total, so it was plenty to fill us up. Our guide did a great job educating us on the family. The only wish from the group is that was a had a little downtime within each coarse so we could talk about the food and wine within our group vs learning the entire time. Overall, a great experience and we highly recommend the family lunch table.

I started writing this review over a year ago but didn’t have the nerve to post it. I hate writing bad reviews. But… it keeps hanging out in my Unilocal account, so I’ll post what I wrote immediately after visiting(which still holds true in my memory): Despite all the hype, we didn’t care for this place. Wines were ok, but not outstanding(‘pedestrian’ as someone else described them). Service was alright, though not especially warm. We didn’t find anything too special here or worth recommending.

Awesome wines. This is a very special place. This is a large production winery with small production quality. The people working here are great. It’s a must to visit here if you are in the area.

Poor customer service. We attended the BBQ and Zin competition for my husbands 35th Birthday. Prior to buying tickets we called to see 1) What the menu was 2) If we should purchase tickets ahead of time. We were told they did not know the menu yet and yes we should by tickets prior, so we did. Bad choice. 1st we show up to the event and the BBQ was pork ribs(2 of us are jewish and can’t eat pork) 2nd they had only enough seats for about 1⁄3 of the attendees. They should have named event Ribs and Zin not BBQ so for $ 602 of us ate ‘snow cones’ which consisted of ice water and the 4 us sat on 4′ side of bocce ball court. I called to give feedback and the response I received was we will consider your feedback. No, so sorry let us buy you a glass of wine next time your up etc. We spent $ 240 for a total of 8 ribs and sips of wine since it was a ‘tasting’.

Second time here and the person pouring wine was rude when we explained that our group of seven was there to taste but were not there for the wine event. He basically told us to get lost.

After visiting about 10 wineries in Healdsburg, I’ve decided that Seghesio has the absolute best Zinfandels. I was lucky enough to get to eat at the«family table» for lunch one day and the parings were fantastic. I would highly recommend doing the family table paring. We received a fantastic tour from Beau, and then the food was amazing! The reserve wines are definitely worth trying. We also enjoyed the regular tastings a lot. And while you are there you can purchase delicious home-made salumi. Go for the family style, but the others are great as well. In the end, my favorite wines were the 2006 Venom and the 2012 Burnside Road(Pinot Noir). If you go for a tasting, Tony, Dan and Beau are great.

We’ve been visiting this winery for more than 10 years and always enjoy their broad range of Italian varietals. The folks in the tasting room are friendly and knowledgeable and you always feel welcome here. A few years ago the family sold our to a larger group and slowly some of the little unique features are vanishing like their high end blend Omaggio. Still a great winery and worth a visit. They’ve also got some great food/wine tasting experiences that we’ve enjoyed in the past that I would highly recommend but you must book that ahead.

I really get mad when I see that so many don’t understand wine hence the not-so-great reviews. I had such a great time with my family and my father happens to work for a major wine magazine so I know good wine! Kudos to the family for inspiring us with your tasting that day.

Had a great tasting here. At first, it seems like a tourist-trappy kind of winery that you’d find in Napa. But one big difference — the wines are really excellent! They’re very boutique with complex flavors and a variety of styles, especially among the Zins and Pinots. Our server was very cool and friendly and could tell we were wine enthusiasts — which I think is why he gave us a quick tour of the barrel room. He might do that for everyone, but it was cool nonetheless. If you’re in Healdsburg, this is definitely a winery to checkout. Like I said, you won’t get the appointment-only, off-the-beaten-path winery experience, but for an established organization, they have definitely crafted a tasting room that caters to the wine lover.

Bocce ball + picnic tables + sunshine = wine not? Came here with a couple friends and their new baby for some casual wine tasting & bocce ball(they have 2 huge courts!). $ 15 tasting fee is pretty steep for just 4 wines, BUT it’s waived if you have a Visa Signature card or if you purchase a bottle. After tasting through some pretty expensive reds($ 40 – 60 range) we decided on a bottle of the less expensive white Arnies($ 22) to drink outside. They gave us glasses to take out to the courts and we hung at the bocce courts for an hour or so. It was lovely, low-key, and luxurious all at the same time. We weren’t wild about the wines, but the atmosphere is ultra inviting. A great place to catch up with friends in someone else’s backyard!
