I have patronized this place for several times, I like the atmosphere and the food here. I ate here again last night which was 2÷10÷16, the food was good as usual, the service of Daniel was so excellent that I need to give him all the credit. I had a good time on my birthday dinner with my family last night. Thanks again for everyone who works in this restaurant especially Daniel.

This place makes Buon Appetitto look like the Olive Garden(no offense OG). I came in 20 minutes before closing on a Friday and the customer service was still awesome. My server Chelsea was really helpful. Everything was delicious — the wine, the bread, the caprese appetizer, steak and especially the fettuccine with fresh pesto sauce. I will definitely be back to this place when I’m working in Hayward again

My boyfriend brought me here on a whim one day for lunch and it was fantastic. On the outside, it didn’t look like much, but once we went through the doors, it was like we teleported to Italy. From the décor, to the staff, and the beautiful murals on the walls, everything was perfectly themed. And the food was amazing. We ordered the wedge salad, their lunch special with penne pasta and chicken, the pesto chicken and pasta plate, and the canoli dessert to finish us off. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Our waiter was fantastic; attentive, knowledgable, friendly, and quick! I look forward to going back and trying out the rest of their menu.

Wanted to try something different and instead of going to Buon Appetito, our usual Italian place, we came here. Ambiance is nice. Calamari was ok. Buon Appetito is better — lighter batter and not so chewy. Caesar salad was nice. Risotto was not made with Arborio rice, which i like. This was white rice and when they put it in front of me, it looked like bad jumbalaya. Flavor was good, though… Just didn’t have the same texture as Arborio rice does. Would never order this again. Husband got fettucini with a cream sauce, artichoke hearts and scrimps. It was good… Not mind blowing. Buon Appetito makes their fettucini in house and it is so much better. Overall, the food was decent… Just not fantastic. Buon Appetito is better.

I came here because of the recommendations saying that it’s better than Buon Appetito, and was greatly disappointed. When we sat down a cockroach crawled across the table. That was a sign we should have left then. Then it took a long time for us to have our order taken(including drinks). Are muscle appetizer came and was lukewarm. The food was not great, a $ 40 steak was tough. The table across from us complain because their food took to long to get to their table, and they got a free dessert. They should’ve given us one because of the cockroach but didn’t offer anything except for a lame excuse. We will not be coming back here, and will go to Buon Appetito from now on!

Went to this restaurant last night. Great ambiance and great service. The waiter was really friendly. The food came out really quick and hot. The alcoholic drinks were good as well. The pollo alla piccata was amazing. I would come here again and would recommend anybody who loves Italian to come and try this place out.

Sunday night dinner at 7pm, they appeared to be short staffed since there were many tables available and yet the server mentioned a 40 minute wait. We decided to just eat at the bar. Going vegan is especially challenging at an Italian restaurant, and I decided on two appetizers — the bruschetta(very nicely made with fresh tomatoes and herbs) and the baked polenta with mushrooms(very flavorful and good portion size). The tv at the bar was showing a documentary about wildlife and it was kind of weird(and psychedelic) to watch various green and black insects crawling around while we ate. Service was a bit haphazard and they messed up my wine order, however the owner(I think) came by and apologized for the service at the end. Overall because of my vegan-ness it was one of the cheapest Italian dinners I ever had which left me feeling just the right amount of full.

Hello everyone This restaurant was recommended by many of my fellow colleagues, it is small, quaint, nice atmosphere. The Staff was pleasant, I had a craving for Pesto, they had one pesto dish on the menu linguini. With chicken. The pesto is very tasty, the chicken was very tough, next time no chicken… ;(. I wanted to share this because we really need a local Italian restaurant. That makes fresh pasta … I am still in search of that place

I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it. Was it good? It’s carbs and seafood smothered in a cream sauce – of course I liked it. There were a number of large parties that night so we were tucked away in a quiet corner of the restaurant. We wanted to pick out a light red wine but our server didn’t have any recommendations, but offered to ask the owner to come over to help us out. We just opted for a pinot noir from the Central Coast. Fine. Then our server disappeared for the remainder of the night, unless it was to clear our dishes. I got the fettuccine with scrimps, garlic, and artichoke hearts in a cream sauce. Yes, it was tasty, but nothing outstanding, as in I wouldn’t make the 30+ min drive to get it again. The scrimps already had the tails taken off which I was thankful for because there’s nothing worse than having to dig your nubs into those shells when they’re covered in cream sauce. I had a bite of the chicken parmesan, again, nothing to write home about. We ended up getting the cannolis for dessert; the shells were really thick and tasted like oil. Overall they were pretty disappointing. If I’m ever in the area again – which I most likely will not be because it’s Hayward – I might give it another go if I just want to induce myself into a carb-coma. Parking is pretty bad, though the sidewalks are empty – seriously where did everyone go? Did they go to some spectacular restaurant I don’t know about?

Polenta appetizer. Get it. So good. I love, love, their caesar salad. So much in fact that I ordered a second one the other night. Yes, I ate 2 caesar salads in one sitting. Then I moved on to their special for the night: grilled salmon. It was delicious. I usually order pasta tho, specifically my favorite creamy pesto sauce with chicken. The service here is always fantastic and I like it that they have a solid crew that hasn’t changed a whole lot over the years. Retention means they take care of their staff and it shows… they’re all very genuine and welcoming. My husband and I love the ambiance here and bring friends/family for special occasions. Haven’t been to that other Italian place in while…

A rare treat and something really special in Hayward. Funny story: my dad had tried this place from their start and brought as many people he could there. He loves it, and was actually afraid that they wouldn’t make it because of location. After trying their food, I knew they were going to make it, so I wasn’t worried, but my dad still was! He even verbalized this with them several times. It got a little embarrassing, but that’s my dad. The food is exceptional. My favorite is the calamari steak with palenta on the side. The steak is prepared piccata style, lightly breaded, with a rich lemon butter garlic sauce with capers. Delicious. The palenta was light and buttery. Every bite was nice. For starters I have had their warm spinach salad with boiled egg and bacon. Yum. I have also had their fresh mozzerella slices with tomato and basil. Lovely. For desert I had the lemonchare,(I know that spelling is off) that is a deliciously rich lemon custard/sorbet. Loved every bite. I have yet to try their pasta, but I am looking forward to it. It’s been some time since I have been back, but that’s only because my dad wore me out on Italian when this place first opened. Looking forward to when I do return. I hear that they have taken over the building next to theirs so they have much more seating space and more business! See dad, nothing to worry about.

I went to this place on a whim since I was roaming around downtown Hayward with my friend. I wasn’t actually craving Italian food, but since my friend was, I went with it anyways. They just opened when we came in, so the place was empty. The ambience is really nice, super fancy. We sat down and they gave us complimentary bread which I enjoyed because I like carbs anyways lol. Our server was very polite, and she informed us that if you don’t see something on the menu you want, you can mix and match things as long as they have the ingredients. My friend and I got two appetizers, which were the polenta and the carpaccio. Both were SUPERDELICIOUS. For our main dishes we decided to split a dish, which was gnocchi topped with pesto. The gnocchi was SOGOOD. It melted in my mouth as soon as I tried one. Usually pesto dishes taste really dense, but their sauce was super light and it didn’t make me feel all gross later on. To sum everything up this place impressed me, the prices are great for Italian food, and this is a great hole in the wall. I will be coming back.

This is a definitely a gem in Hayward. I can’t believe a good old school Italian restaurant still exist in the bay area. Stop all the fancy hipster stuff, this is how Italian grandma do it in the East Coast. Very traditional way of cooking, simple, and tasty! Their house made cheese cake is amazing. Service and price are also why this is my favorite Italian place in the bay.

Nothing short of excellence. These guys do Italian the right way! Service– excellent. They are attentive but not pushy(which can be very annoying when you’re drinking good wine and having a good time) Ambiance– romantic and laid back. Kinda feels like you’re in someone’s home getting ready to eat dinner without having to put any work in. Quiet but got a little noisy(not in a bad way) once the dinner rush began to squiggle in. Food– AMAZING! From the bread, to the wine and the pasta. Everything was perfect, just the way I imagine authentic Italian food is like :)

We had a nice dinner here and will definitely be back. The food was quite good and the service was excellent! The décor is also nice, and the downtown location is convenient. For starters, I enjoyed my mixed greens salad, and my husband liked his garlic soup. My dad and I both enjoyed the grilled salmon dish — the accompanying polenta was great! My husband’s penne pasta dish was also very good. Last but not least, we really appreciated the fact that they accommodated my mom’s special dietary needs and prepared a seasoning free salmon and sautéed veggie plate for her! Our server was wonderful! She was friendly, polite, patient, and worked with us to make sure my mom’s special needs were met. She also did a good job of checking on us during the meal. The service was also prompt and efficient. This place was a great find!

Wanted to find a nice place to go on a date and this far exceeded expectations. The service was amazing & the atmosphere was great. Best of all the food was excellent. Highly recommend the Bruschetta as an appetizer, I’ve gone and had many different types and this one is the best I’ve ever had. The place is kind of a hole in the wall on Main Street but once you enter and are seated it stretches far back and is a very roomy. There is mood music and lighting that reminds me of Lady and the Tramp and their scene with the spaghetti and meatballs. Our server Carmen(or is it spelled Karmen?) was very friendly and was frequently back to check in if everything was alright. Had the Lasagna and the gnocchi, which were both very great dishes. Overall a great experience and I’ll be back again!

Cool place for Hayward Italian eats. I have been here approximately 8 times and had the same waiter at least 6 times. He NEVER remembers us. he has his scripted presentation and doesn’t veer from it ever. lol. He is a good server though and nice enough. The food is good, it was REALLY good when we first started going there, but have noticed that the food has slowly declined in its consistency of quality for the regular items. The stuffed mushrooms were to die for a few months ago, but they have gotten smaller and more«runny» in their filling. The calamari piccata seems to be a bit dryer in the breading and the swordfish tasted like it had a lot of «liquid smoke» flavoring as opposed to the first few times of having it, just tasted smokey and great. Maybe it has been an off night the last couple of times we went, but we really dig the place, so hoping it will get better again.

Not sure how this has 4.5÷5 stars. The wait staff was fantastic, but sadly the restaurant’s food did not match up with the service. Caprese had old tasting/textured mozzarella and tomatoes that were still green inside. The tortellini filling was too paste-like and clung to your throat as you ate it. The cream sauce with the tortellini was passable, but the fact that the tortellini were so poorly made ruined the whole dish. The table had a water served upon request sign which had food dried on the outside and was stained from drinks being splashed on it. Not the first thing you want to see when you sit down. Overall, probably not going again.

Acqua E’ Farina easily became my favorite go-to Italian restaurant. I’ve tried others in the area and this place always comes out on top. The service, food, and ambience has always been great. I haven’t tried everything on the menu but everything I have tried was delicious! Usually, I go in and order the fried calamari, chicken piccata, and finish with either the tiramisu or crème brûlée. This restaurant is perfect for both dates and groups.

Are you ever in the mood for just a simple bowl of spaghetti and sauce? After a day of sightseeing my friends and I were in the mood for Italian, so got out the handy Unilocal App to see what’s in the area and we found Acqua e Farina so off we went. Like I said I was in the mood for a simple bowl of spaghetti with bolognese sauce, and after checking out the menu I knew I wasn’t going to find it. But what I did find was Capellini al Pomodoro, angel hair pasta with garlic & basil in a fresh tomato sauce. I have to say this was way better than what I was craving. This was a light pasta dish, the flavors really stood out, fresh basil, nice slices of fresh garlic and a great tomato base, I was very sad when it was all gone. So delish! Service was great and friendly, if you are in the area you should give them a try! I know I will when I come back into town.
