Had a fabulous Saturday breakfast! Nice atmosphere with a gas fireplace making it cozy. Great waitress and cook. Please support this resturant on slow winter days and any other time! Weekday dinner and music too on some occasions!

Yummy boathouse salad! Fresh berries in season, and when berries are out of season, they sub dried fruit. Fantastic service – they check in regularly to make sure everything is perfect. I have lots of food allergies and these severs are golden. My husband always gets a full pound of calamari… And he and our guests love it! On this menu, there is something for everyone. Did I already mention Great service? I have read other reviews in June and wonder what happened?! I’ve been here three years, regular visits, and it’s been great!

45 minutes after we ordered, no food yet. Will advise on food after it comes. Here’s the thing, there is no food worth a 50 minute wait. I visit my parents once a year and we almost always go here because of the great view. Almost always we receive an apology for the wait. HELLO management, fix the problem. Your food is not that good. Fix the problem

If I could give this restaurant no stars I would but to leave a review I need to put at least one. This restaurant has a beautiful view but beyond that I have nothing good to say. We were seated at 7:15 and it took over an hour and a half to get our dinner. We started by ordering baked bree for an appetizer and although when we did get it I can say it was good it took over 40 minutes to get to the table. We even got up to find our server to ask whereit was after 30 minutes and were told it was just coming out… apparently not since we waited another ten minutes before ever seeing it. After sitting at the table for almost an hour and a half I had to feed my nephew cheese crackers and a granola bar because he was looking up at me and asking for food because his belly hurt. Now onto the manager. When we finally did ask to speak to the manager and told him how long we had been waiting he never came up with a «I’m sorry let me look into that» or «I’ll take care of it» or any sort of solution to our problem. I worked as a restaurant manager and can tell you if any of my guests had the experience I had tonight I would have comped the entire bill… yes it was that bad. We heard a lot of excuses from him and I can tell you if it was my restaurant I would have to let this guy go. He eventually did come back to the table to say,“I did look at your check and it did take a while so I am going to take off 20%”. Thanks for the 20.00 off our bill Mr. Manager would have been nice if you checked back in later when I would have told you that your 24.00 salmon was the worst fish I had ever tasted which was why I was eating the left overs from my dads burger. I essentially paid 24.00 for some rice pilaf and squash since I never finished my fish(tasted like cardboard… not a 10.00 meal in my opinion let alone a 24.00 meal) I did let the server know but he didn’t seem to care and just took the plate back to the kitchen. I will never return to this restaurant and hope the owners have an opportunity to read through this review and take it seriously. If you are looking for a way to set your business up to fail then this place is on the right track. I expect this will be another business that has to close it’s doors shortly if this is the way they continue to run.

Well, beautiful view but that’s about where it ends. Got seated at 7:15, and it was busy. There were 5 adults and one child. It took almost 15 min to get our drinks which we really didn’t notice because we were enjoying the conversation. We ordered the Brie appetizer and dinner at the same time. By 8(about 30 min after ordering) we asked about the app and were told about 5 more min. At 8:15 we asked again. I was giving it until 8:30 before we walked. At 8:28 the app shows up. We asked if the meal was close and we were told that it was coming up now. The Brie was good, but it was melted Brie with Garlic, it should have taken 5 min. By 8:45 and sill no meal we asked for the manager who said they got slammed and couldn’t catch up. That was the first we had heard that. He said he would take 20% off. At 8:55(roughly an hour and twenty min later) we got our meal. Which came out wrong. They messed up my wife’s order, my Buger was fine. Her turkey sandwich was good. The Salmon a $ 22 meal was dry and chewy. We told the server and he said«ok» and walked away. Probably told the cook but that was it. The table behind us was upset too, they talked to the manager and left a note. Not sure what their exact complaint was. We saw a co-worker showed up about 30 min after us and after the restaurant was considerably slower. After waiting an hour and a half for their meal it came out raw. When they told the server. He said«well at least you have a nice view». Out of curiosity I started timing the table next to us, 10 min for their drinks and 40 min after ordering they were still waiting and were getting annoyed. By that time the place was slow and we were leaving. Guess I won’t know if they ever got their food. We left at about 9:25, a little over two hours.

Great for cocktails and great stop on the lake… but it ends there. Like many other reviewers the hour we waited for food In a half empty joint was crazy. My salmon was not fully cooked and my wife spent the next day home sick from the chicken parm.

My BF and I 100% agree with Regular Guy 1’s review right below us!!! We had to walk out after 56 minutes! First thing is first there BEER in draft is WARM… Second we came expecting to see the menu they have posted on there website… There is NO shrimp, no $ 5 dollar kids meals… The menu is NOTHING like there website. When we asked our waitress about it, she said she didn’t know why and said she would go talk to the manager about it. So we settled for a Cobb salad and the fish tacos and the kids menu chicken strips. We ordered our meals after we reviewed our OVERCOOKED frozen to long chicken wings… 6 of these nasty hard things for $ 10??? We were so bummed, but trying to hold out hope for good fish tacos and fresh Cobb salad and decent kids meals. We waited a solid 45 for our main entrees that we never received because we had to WALKOUT! We asked to speak to this manager who she supposedly talked to earlier but he wasn’t on site. Our waitress tried to cover herself even when I asked her repeatedly if she forgot to put in our order, we were the ONLY people there ordering… She denied it and then said we had to wait another 10 minutes!! i called her out and then she tried to blame it on her 7 other tables, which weren’t there when we had ordered. She lied to us and wasn’t even that nice about it. Horrible service, AWFUL wings, warm beer.

Really? Within a few hours? Must be the owner or someone associated with the resturant monitoring social media. I even suspected this in my original review(below). Not only that, they then also immediately updated their own earlier review. In the update of thier own review they tried to «counter BLOG» my neg feedback. Bad sign. Owner in denial. See Chef Ramsey. The way to fix your businesss is NOT to counter Unilocalers with false pos reviews. Take the feedback. The Unilocaler in question also only reviewed one resturant. This one. Hint: when a Unilocaler reviews only one resturant and it’s positive it’s a sign of a false review. When a Unilocaler reviews only one resturant and it’s negative, it’s a sign of a pissed off customer. Me. I guarantee XXX will suddenly review multiple resturants and mysteriously more positives will appear for Boat House. Nobody does this unless you are associated with the resturant.(and per my note above, my review was countered!) I WANT to eat at the Boathouse since I live in Hayden. I WANT the place to have good food since it’s the only place on the lake. I WANT to go back since the place is beautiful. I have been going to the Boathouse now for 5 years ever since moving to CDA. Been there 10 times. No more. Every time I go it sucks. Fire the chef. Redo the kitchen. Menu is deceiving because it looks good. The kitchen is way too slow(contrary to what the owner of the resturant has been counter blogging on Unilocal,we were there 4 days ago). One time I just walked out after 50 minutes without food. The last 2 times we got the taccos and the fish was bland and unseasoned. Salmon is dry and texture was like cardboard(probabbly frozen). Both my guests did not finish their meals. Salads have too much dressing. Last week there was a glop of food on the outside of my glass. I asked the waitresss for a clean glass. Instead of giving me a NEW glass with a new drink, the waitress just tried to scape the glop off, and actually returned the glass to me with a smaller glop. Disgusting! I didn’t want to ask again, so I decided to just drink water. Unfortunately the water glass was dirty too. GROSS! Dont go. You will get sick. Once I did. I will try it again one more time to see if it’s changed and update my review a 3rd time.

I had some family from Europe visiting & decided to have dinner at The Boat House. It was my third time there in 2 years & I was so disappointed. My family ordered fish & chips & they got fish tacos. Then ordered a Cobb salad tossed with no tomatoes & I got a Cobb salad with extra tomatoes not tossed. When we got there it took 40 minutes to get our order taken. The waitress kept saying I’m sorry every time she came to the table. Plus our waitress was also the bartender. I felt so bad for her because she was a very pleasant girl busting her butt. At the end of our dinner I asked her if there was a new owner. She said it’s been the same owner the last couple years. I also asked about the manager & she said his name & that he was also the executive chef… REDFLAG!!! You can’t do both In that kind of business. She pointed to a guy that was inside as the manager & the funny thing is I never saw him help getting drinks or talking with the customers to see if they were enjoying their experience. My waitress talked well good about the manager/executive chef. My family has been in the restaurant business for 70 years in California & I feel really bad that the owner is not aware of what’s going In his/her restaurant. The Boat House is the only restaurant on Hayden Lake & what a beautiful view. I just really wish they were organized & made the experience more enjoyable. I did give our waitress a very good tip, she was great! I hope they can get it together!

I traveled to Hayden Idaho for a work trip and was looking for a great restaurant right on the water. I found exactly what I was looking for at the Boathouse Restaurant. The location is awesome! This restaurant is on Hayden lake and it is absolutely beautiful. The staff is extremely friendly and very attentive. I had the fish tacos and loved them. Love this spot!

I had the fish tacos and Caesar salad along with chips and salsa. The food was good, but not a standout. The thing you come to the boat house for is the ambiance. It’s right on the lake, and you can eat outside on gorgeous summer evenings overlooking the Hayden lake marina. It really is a nice setting in the evening. If you’re already boating on Hayden lake, you can pull up, dock your boat, get dinner, then head back out. I would give this place five stars for the ambiance and 3.5−4 for the food – overall 4 stars. I’ll be back mainly because it’s a nice place to sit down and eat.

Had appetizers and cocktails. The Rib Fingers with Huckleberry BBQ sauce was off the hook. They even sold is a couple jars under the table! The hot wings were great, and the Huckleberry Daquiri was delish!!!

Beloved and I ventured to The Boathouse for dinner the other evening. It was our first time and will not be our last! My fish was perfectly cooked and the accompanying veggies were most excellent. Beloved gave his fish & chips a solid B. Service was snappy and friendly. Can’t beat the view! You really should give this place a try!

Outstanding location(location, location, location). Attentive friendly waitstaff. Simple but well-executed menu. Can’t think of a better way to end a day on Hayden Lake!
