The worst l&l I’ve been to. Smallest portions and highest prices. The best one in LA is on Redondo beach in Gardena!

The food is tasty and the prices are right. The workers are nice enough and make you feel welcome. If you come here during the week, try to avoid coming in between 12pm — 1pm, this seems to be when they have their lunchtime rush and since they do prepare the food fresh-to-order, it can take a little while for your food to be ready during this time. It’s a small place but it’s clean and almost give the sense of community if you dine in. Give them a try and I’m sure you will be satisfied.

Sometimes, I just get a craving for Hawaiian and L&L is the best. I usually get the combo with kalbi ribs, chicken and beef. It has a great combo of the salt I crave and the lighter sweet Hawaiian(similar to teriyaki) flavoring. I also love the contrast of the sweet-ish sauce on the macaroni salad(and the meat flavors that settle on the cabbage it’s served on) against the sriracha I pour on everything. Plus the texture of the soft slippery macaroni with the crunchy cabbage slaw. I also get the Spam Musubi as a splurge. It’s not the healthiest thing in the world for you to eat, but so tasty! I’ve always gotten exactly what I hoped for at this restaurant in regards to the quality and quantity of the food. It’s super filling so this time I tried to go smaller and just get kalbi, but I missed the other meats and since I don’t get it that often, next time I’ll just go for it and take a long nap and digest. Bring a toothpick!

We sometimes walk to this location to have a meal. I usually order chicken combo, bbq mix and Portuguese sausage masubi. We generally like L&L and we like this location for convenience. However, they usually get our orders wrong, so we need to make sure if we got the correct order before we leave the store if we are picking it up. So far, I would say like 70−75% of time, they got the order wrong. I don’t think we are being too difficult but I usually replace my rice in combo meals with house green salad, and my husband changes his bbq chicken with katsu. We like the fact that L&L allows you to customize our meal but they have been getting it wrong a lot. There was one time that she just gave away our order to someone else who came in to pick it up without checking his order, so he probably got the wrong order. And that led us to wait another 20 minutes before getting our order. The store gave us free hawaiian rolls to make it up though. I like this place and I would probably come back. I just wish they pay little more attention to taking orders and delivering it. Foods: 3 stars Service; 2.5 stars Atmosphere: 3 stars Overall Experience: 3 stars

For this visit, I got the Chicken Bowl with Spam Masubi which came out to be about $ 9. I’ll give the chicken bowl 3.5 stars — it’s both more tasty and cheaper than the chicken veggie bowl at Flame Broilers. Chicken pieces have a good grilled flavor and seem more fresh. The spam masubi was good but there was a little too much rice for the amount of spam. Also, two pieces for $ 3.50 is sort of a rip off. I looked at their online menu later and the spam masubi I got doesn’t look anything like the picture. I usually I get the Hawaiian BBQ Mix, but I realized from past visits that the beef is not usually the best quality and there’s not a lot of good meat on the short ribs(usually very fatty). I am still sad they closed Back Home in Lahaina in Manhattan Beach.

If you’ve ever been to L&L in Hawaii, don’t come here because it will definitely disappoint. The food is lackluster, the seasoning is virtually nonexistent, and the amount of food you get is waaaay less than in Hawaii. So here’s the thing, in Hawaii, I’d go to L&L because it was too late to cook, and my hubby and I wanted something filling. We could easily share a mixed plate. Here, that is not the case. They give you a lot less food, and it’s more expensive than Hawaii… kind of strange. We used to go to Hawaii quite a bit because it was nearby, but I probably won’t be going much here. It was really disappointing. I ordered a dish used to get all the time in Hawaii: garlic shrimp with brown rice and salad. The shrimp didn’t taste like anything here, there was barely any garlic, it wasn’t crispy, and there was more salad than anything else! My hubby got the mixed plate, and it didn’t come with much meat, and it just didn’t have much seasoning on it. We were more than a little heartbroken over this L&L. Service was also a little slow. We had to wait a while for out takeout order. No ono grindz here, folks. I’m on to find my Hawaiian food fix elsewhere.

This seems to be a common complaint from reading the Unilocal. It took 27 minutes from the time my receipt was printed from the time I got my 1 mini low carb. I guess they had to chase down the chicken to get the egg. I’m guessing the cooks don’t know how to multi-task. If this was SNL, it would be «cheeborger, cheeborger, cheeborger» and the cook will only cook one burger at a time instead of putting 3 patties on the grill.

Ordered a small chicken katsu plate. It was almost $ 8. I was surprised as the size of this plate and I received it to dine in. I will say it was delicious but I’m not sure If I will pay $ 8 for a plate that size. it was quiet, clean, and order was served quick. Nice and low sounding mellow music in the speakers.

Couple issues with this location comparison to Hawaii. Not enough staff on duty. There is one lady who is always there, but she gets overwhelmed and a line can back up quickly during busy hours. Another problem is that they use styrofoam containers to serve the food. Problem is that the food is so hot after they take it off the BBQ that it melts the styrofoam next to your food. Styrofoam when melted is toxic for your body. The food was so hot that it melted two holes on each the side of the box! Ask for paper plates to be safe.

BBQ mix plate with an order of spam masubi, does the job right! I even take home another order of spam masubi to eat on the car ride home.

A wild L&L has appeared! They’re all the same, I says. Too lazy to drive anywhere else, why not? I says. First thing I noticed was this place was more expensive than any of the L&L’s I’ve been to. I mean it’s not like a ton of money or anything, but $ 2 more for all of the items. No big deal. I got the hamburger steak mini for $ 6 and two spam musubi’s for $ 3.50(get 4 for $ 4.50 at the Torrance L&L) There was two people ahead of my order, so I figured it would be 10 – 15 min. Half hour later I get my order and that’s where this rating is justified. The regular size here is a mini at other L&L’s, I couldn’t believe they could charge more for less and it’s the same chain. By how they thin they slice the spam, you’d think that shit was imported bluefin toro or something. The musubi was like 95% rice and 5% spam. Even the seaweed was skimped to be barely covering the rice. With that said, the actual food isn’t bad. It’s L&L, doesn’t disappoint and doesn’t amaze. Just hits you right in the balls for under $ 10. Definitely makes me appreciate the L&L @ Torrance Crossroads a lot more.

Omg! This place has very slow customer service! They took like 30min to get our food out. They need to hire more cooks. The food was ok. Definitely the worst L&L I’ve been to.

:SPAMTOMAKEHERDANZ: It’s true that I lurve me some spam, but this LNL is excruciatingly S L O W. Ordered 2 musubi and it took 35 minutes. Seriously?! Just let me get back to the kitchen and make it myself! Quality was fine but I can’t be waiting more than a half hour for fried spam with rice and a sheet of seaweed. Deuces.

Now, I’m not saying its bad. And I’m not saying its good. But what I am saying is that L&L does its job filling in as a decent(hearty) and inexpensive lunch. PROS: — You can get full on less than $ 10 — You can get an «all protein» meal and skip the rice and mac salad — The staff is so super friendly that if you’re not happy when you get there, you will be when you leave. — The Hawaiian BBQ is friggin’ good. CONS: — You are usually waiting 10 min or more for your order. They fill each order in sequence and they ain’t moving too fast. Aloha life 4 eva. On island time I guess. — If you get a standard meal, you’re eating a lot of white rice and creamy mac salad. This is why most Hawaiian people are not skinny. — Only about 8 – 10 tables in the place, so most people do take out(I guess). — Not the highest quality meats(fatty at times) but you’ll dig the BBQ so do you really care? That’s that… lunch…tasty…cheap…boom. Once in a while it serves its purpose as a good ol’ «get in my belly» lunch. ENJOY!

It’s kind of funny to say a place doesn’t give you enough rice. We got two little scoops in each container. I’ve been to at least four other L&L BBQ places and all give much more rice and macaroni salad. We had to fight over it. I also thought that the meat that came in the mixed BBQ Plate was very skimpy. It was also so chopped up that it was hard to eat with a fork. When I went up for my food I was asked which Musubi I had ordered. They made the wrong one but informed me they would make me the correct one. The Chicken Katsu was good and was a good portion size unlike the BBQ Combo. Place is on the small side. They don’t have high chairs which was a pain in the ass trying to keep a 2-year-old in his seat. I was surprised they had Horchata. Kind of misplaced but, whatever. Bathroom was a little dirty, but I didn’t expect it to be clean. Is that wrong?
