VERY disappointed in Rom’s and for one reason only – when a restaurant closes for vacation for two weeks it would be really helpful for a prospective customer to find that out on the first telephone call for reservations-like for instance, oh I don’t know, perhaps have a voice mail message that states We are closed from when to when — instead of me having to run over there to find a sign in the window. I mean, just saying. I was looking forward to it too.

Ron left ingredients out of one of our dishes(scallops), and the rest of the food was just ok. Scampi lacked garlic! We had heard good things, but we were let down. Probably won’t be going back.

This was our second venture to Ron’s and we haven’t been disappointed. First trip was Valentine’s Day and we found the food good and a quiet laid back atmosphere which was reproduced again this evening. Apparently, they have a small but loyal following, among which we can now be counted. The food was once again very well prepared and served in a timely manner without rushing us, good appetizer, very well prepared entrée(I had the veal Oscar she had the chicken parmigiana), in and out inside of an hour and no rush to push us at a fast pace. we’ll be back.

Visited: Friday — January 31, 2015 — 6:30PM Ron’s is located in the rear lot of the former L&M caterer. There is plenty of free parking. Ron’s is a romantic destination wanna-be with a healthy dose of neighborhood character. I’ve dined with family, friends, and solo. This time with my lady friend. Ron’s is a dimly lit but, welcoming room. Pictures are placed throughout the room without any particular theme. We were immediately greeted by a server. We ordered the roasted peppers with sharp provolone. The roasted peppers and provolone were placed onto a romaine leaf. It was tasty. She had the Homemade Ravioli(large pasta pockets filled with ricotta cheese in marinara sauce). I had the Grouper Special(Grouper, swiss cheese, lump crab meat, in a scampi sauce). She did not care for the ravioli(I liked it). My special was cooked perfectly and was ridiculously delicious. We washed down the meal with a moist slice of coconut cream cake and hot teas. NOTE: The food is «cooked to order» so expect a prolonged visit. Indeed, we were there for one and a half hours. Cash only /BYOB. Ron’s does not provide an itemized invoice. If an itemized invoice is important, I recommend making the proper arrangements BEFORE dining.

Great place, very, very good food! Simple, but with lots of talent behind the stove. Not pricey, not overbearing staff — worth a visit!

Just a very nice Italian Restaurant! Just like a gem you would get in South Philadelphia. Service was excellent and very respectful. Food selections were excellent and uncomplicated. Pricing was eminently appropriate. The red mussels were outstanding. We had this veal specials. My guest got the brown sauce, which was recommended by our lovely waitress, which was very tasty. I got the veal in the red sauce which was good. Ambiance is nice with the expected vocalists on tap. NiceI highly recommend this gem, which I discovered on my journey to visit all the new BYOB restaurants in Havertown. Five(5) stars for Ron’s Café! Free parking!

I’m pleasantly surprised from all of the positive attention that my first review got! As requested, here is another review. I might write more, but they won’t appear too often. Now, let’s dig in! The façade of the Italian BYOB is quite simple, with a bright yellow sign to show you’ve made it to the café. The interior, however, is anything BUT simple. It was actually quite classy, with beautiful decorative flowers on the tables. A bust that I assumed was Julius Caesar was by our table, which, oddly enough, had lipstick marks on its cheek. Odd, but intriguing. Another detail to note is that the napkins were placed cleverly in empty glasses of wine. I don’t know why, but it put a smile on my scaly face. The service wasn’t bad at all! When my father seemed to be struggling with his beer bottle, they offered to give him a bottle opener. He politely declined, as he was able to open it a second or so later. Ron’s Café is also amazingly clean. I scanned the area carefully, and I found not even one microscopic crumb. Impressive, if I do say so myself. Now, onto the main course of this review: the food! The bread appetizer we started out with was good, but nothing special; it is exactly what you would expect from an Italian restaurant. I asked my family about their appetizers, due to my picky nature. My brother told me that the Crabbies are quality. I asked my mom about her Caesar Salad, and she complimented the dressing. My father said that the House Salad is fresh, with nice and crisp lettuce. Our main courses were tasty! I had ordered the Ravioli, but I was nervous to try it. After my family’s urging not to be afraid of my food, I dug into the Ravioli. It was quite tasty, being stuffed with what I assume is ricotta cheese. I chose to have my Ravioli with Scampi sauce, but if you wish, you could also get it with Marinara. My father had ordered the grouper. He said to me that it wasn’t anything special, but still delicious. He also commented that the beans were«nuclear hot». My mother and my brother both had fresh pasta. They both acknowledged that the red sauce was great, and the pasta was nice and hot. For dessert, I munched happily on the triple chocolate tarte cake, which was very sweet. Our portions were perfectly balanced as well. Our dinner wasn’t too pricy. One of the problems I had with Ron’s Café was the bathroom. My nostrils were greeted by an unpleasant scent. The toilet was a little dirty, which made me slither back to our table. In conclusion, Ron’s Café isn’t bad at all. Nothing really stood out to us, and the bathroom isn’t the best, but if you are looking for a good Italian restaurant, this is where to go!

Ate at Ron’s tonight with my wife for the fourth or fifth time. great food, great service. Even the broccoli side did was made to order and not from a steam table. Mussels red, grouper Oscar both very good.

We were going to go to Rons café tomorrow for a church event, we had resevations and all, but does this café honor that? NOPE! They took a bigger party and KICKEDUSOUT. They will always be bad mouthed by me. Too bad

We have now been to Ron’s Café four times, with the most recent visit being last night. All four times have been very good. The food has always been delicious. The service is great. We have tried some of the regular menu items such as chicken parm, chicken bolognese, veal saltimboca, and steak. I even tried the lobster raviolis when they were the special one night. I loved them! The french onion soup is my favorite thing there. It is a must have! We absolutely love Ron’s Café and it is one of the best BYOBs in the area.

I tried Ron’s Café 1÷6÷12 and was happy to find a great find in my neighborhood. We were immediately seated. The waitress was great. The food was excellent and made to order. My friend loved the onion soup and the steamed mussels. Portions were hearty. I can’t wait to go again!

There’s a new Italian BYOB in Havertown! Ron’s Café has been open just a few months. In the last month three friends have mentioned it with positive comments so tonight I gave it a try with the wife and daughter. This place is tucked right next to Vito’s Hoagies. It’s open for dinner only(5 – 9PM). First impressions were really good. Ron(the chef) did a nice job taking a very basic strip store and creating a decent atmosphere. I was actually quite surprised. A very pleasant waitress greeted us immediately, seated us and supplied menus. While we were pursuing the choices we ordered the antipasto platter for two. It was more than enough for three and everything was fresh and delicious. The menu is classic Italian. There are no surprises. All the basics are here. On average the entrees are $ 14.95 and come with a choice of pasta or vegetable. We tried classic chicken, pasta and fish entrees and everything was just fine. The menu mentions that everything is cooked to order. The wife asked that her choices be «lightened.» Translation; cut back on the butter and the amount of sauces. They arrived just as requested. Ron’s is a nice new BYOB addition to the Havertown area.
