This restaurant is always consistent with their fare, great service and a welcoming atmosphere. I really enjoyed my harvest Apple salad and surf & turf. My Filet was cooked perfectly and crab cake was full of wonderful lump meat. Every time we go we always enjoy our experience! This is one of our favorite stops.

I stopped there one day before opening to get a gift certificate and the owner was sleeping in the booth and with the sun shinning in you could really see that the place was very dirty. Beware ! ! Not a clean place.

My husband and I went out for our Anniversary dinner last night. This place has an interesting ambiance– dark and reddish but fine for a date night. Casual and somewhat cozy. Appetizers– filet egg rolls were good– cheesy, crunchy. Crab asparagus soup was creamy and tasty. Overall though, both apps were very salty. I couldnt even eat the croutons on top of the soup– tasted like a salt lick. We opted to skip salads. Entrees: my husband had a bacon wrapped filet and I had the shrimp and catfish special. His was served over whipped potatoes and asparagus and mine was over a pancetta risotto. Again– mine was super salty– didnt taste my huband’s. Mine was so salty to the point of I couldn’t even really enjoy it. I just feel like if they laid off the salt it would have been a good dish. Dessert– the kahlua tiramisu which was the best part of the meal!

Easy to find in Havertown. Superb menu selections. Very cordial. efficient staff. My music teacher sometimes plays guitar on the music nights! We are so lucky to get some great places like this. I clicked not sure if good for kids. For my 8 year old grandson yes, because he is a very sophisticated eater — not bragging — he just is — loves sushi, etc. I would definitely bring a child who eats lots of different dishes.

I’ve been here a few times and the food and service have been outstanding each visit. The menu is small but mighty and changes often which I think is great. And most importantly, it’s a BYOB! I would recommend Edgewood to anyone.

Hubbs and I have come here quite a few times since discovering it a year or so ago. The food is always outstanding. Love that it’s BYO. We’ve has many selections from the menu(fried chicken, steak, pasta dishes) we are always happy. Call in advance, reservations are required on a weekend. Nice outdoor seating. The staff is always great. A little pricy, we usually reserve Edgewood for a «good» night out.

This restaurant was SOGOOD when it opened and we were so excited to finally have a great restaurant in Havertown. My family and I have been to Edgewood about 7 – 8 times now and the last 3 have fallen short of expectations. The smoke from the kitchen somehow lost ventilation so the entire restaurant has been extremely smokey. They removed the BEST item they had — the crab cakes. And the last time we went the waiter seemed to have no idea about what was in the specials, or what day it is, and the salads seemed to have gone down about half in size for the same price. I really hope they can get back into the groove they were in when they first opened. :(

This place was a nice surprise in a residential-seeming area of Havertown. You can’t ever go wrong with being able to BYO(as long as you remember to bring your wine and/or beverage of choice). The restaurant is decorated tastfully inside and they had plenty of seating and were able to accomodate our somewhat large group of six and another nearby table of double the size, as well as a bunch of 2 and 4 tops. The only thing that was a little surprising was that their was only 1 bathroom, which didnt seem like enough for as many people were eating in the restaurant, but I didn’t really run into too much of a line. Another thing I noticed was that it got really smoky in the restaurant while they were cooking. They had to keep the doors open to let some of the smoke out, so there must not be great ventilation in there. It wasn’t too bothersome, but definitely noticeable. For dinner, I had the salmon entrée, which was placed over potatoes and spinach, It was a large piece of salmon nicely seared and crunchy on the outside with a nice beurre blanc sauce on top and very reasonably priced for $ 25. My only complaint was that the almon was a bit overdone and dry. My fiancée had the surf and turf special, which was a tasty 6 oz filet with 3 shrimp over rissotto. However, for his entrée, I thought the price was a little steep at $ 39 for a smallish steak and 3 shrimp, but it is BYOB so I guess you pay for being able to save on wine and liquor. Finally we had the brownie sundae. which was really cute and came in a wine glass with sprinkles definitely a good choice for kids and kids at heart. Finally, our server was very nice and helpful throughout the evening and didnt try to rush us out after we had been there for a while catching up with our friends, which was much appreciated. I would definitely give this place a try again if I’m in the area.

Tonight I ordered my favorite flatbread: braised short rib flat bread. My hubby picked it up and brought it home and I opened it up and??? WTF??? What happened??? They ruined it! There was no braised short rib on the flatbread. It was sliced ham, drowning in mayo sauce. It was horrible. I am so sad. The braised short rib flatbread has been my go to favorite for the past three years but no more. Did they get a new chef? Why??? It was DISGUSTING. UPDATE: and I just called to complain and first they tried to tell me it was the same. Seriously? I’ve been getting the same thing for as many years as it’s been open and this was NOT the same. It was not braised short rib. It was sliced ham. Then they said they use another meat supplier. Odd. I’ve had braised short rib at many many many restaurants and it never looks or tastes like sliced ham like this did. Totally bummed as this was one of our favorite go-to restaurants for dine in and takeout. But I think I’m done there now.

If I was writing this review on the taste of the food alone, I would give this place 5+ stars, I took off a star for the service we received. Visited Edgewood for the first time last week eith my mom because I had a living social deal. The place is very cute and I was surprised how nice the interior was, having been to the deli that rpeviously occupied the space many times. Loved that its BYO, major plus for me! I had the lobster mac and cheese and my mom had the crab cakes. I thought the lobster mac and cheese was to die for, so decadent, and definately plenty for a meal contrary to what the waitress told me. Our servcie was very subpar, our server was barely friendly and we had to flag her down anytime we needed something. I thought things were a little pricey, definately a good place to try with a groupon-type deal.

Went here on a Saturday night with 11 other people. I never even knew this place existed… it has a somewhat odd location in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Parking wasn’t ideal, but it wasn’t a major issue either. I do feel bad for the homeowners that have us restaurant patrons parking in front of their houses each evening. Despite having made reservations about a month in advance, they put us at what we all felt was probably the worst table in the house… the first table when you walk in the door. It was kind of a pain because we were freezing every time the door opened(which on a Saturday night was A LOT). Also, the table wasn’t quite large enough for our party so we were kind of cramped. That’s where my complaints end, however. The food was DELICIOUS. I had the salmon special and nearly cleaned my plate. Others reported that the rack of lamb, crab cakes, and parmesan crusted chicken were also fantastic. I also tried the scallop appetizer and thought they were cooked to perfection. The waiter(JR, I believe was his name) was energetic, attentive, and hilarious. I’d hope to get hime again if we were to return. They had a live musician when we were there which really added to the ambiance of the place. Finally, the prices were totally reasonable for a nice BYO. Overall, I’m sure we’ll be back but I think it’ll be during the week and/or with a smaller party.

We went here a second time and were disappointed; though, we may have just caught them on a bad night. If I was rating them on this visit, I would probably give them two stars but since we had a better experience the first time I will give them three. The egg rolls were not as flavorful this time and our dishes did not stand out. We are sad to see the quality was not up to par with our previous visit. We ordered the s’mores bread pudding and it was not very good. They basically cut up white bread and put a few chocolate chips in it and called it s’mores bread pudding. Edgewood– please go taste the bread pudding at the Brick and Brew for some tips because theirs is amazing!

We went here for dinner on a chilly weeknight thinking that it would be a light night. We arrived around 6 without a reservation and were fortunate to get a parking spot just outside the door. When we entered we were asked if we had a reservation even though the place was less than ½ full. We were seated at one of the tables. I would have preferred a booth but the only one left was near the rest room. The décor here is dark. Dark woods, a painted black ceiling, and dim lighting set the mood. Music plays in the background. Tables are set with fresh flowers. There was a board with specials and a menu with eight or so appetizers, eight entrees, and several salads. Bread is offered with basil flavored butter. Water was also provided. It was warm not cold but OK considering the outside temperature. We ordered one of the specials which was a combo of three appetizers and a chance to sample multiple items on our first visit here– bacon wrapped scallops, filet mignon egg rolls and lobster Mac and cheese. The scallops were served medium rare, with perfectly cooked bacon and a soy ginger sauce. The egg rolls were filled with tender cooked filet with a horseradish sauce. The lobster mac and cheese was great from the Mac and cheese point of view but if I hadn’t known about the lobster I would have never guessed it was in there. The entrees do shine here. The cider brined pork chop was incredibly large, tender and served medium well as requested. It was served with a sweet potato and Brussels sprout mash — also good. This is an excellent choice. My dining partner ordered the crab cakes which were two cakes served over mashed potatoes with spinach. Our bill without the tip was $ 72. Service was good at the start but fell off after the place started to fill up. This place is wheelchair accessible. I would return but it is pricey– the cheapest entrée was $ 19 and the most expensive around $ 30. The menu is interesting but not exciting. Appetizers we’re the kind thing you can get elsewhere.

This place is special. It truly is. The Reverend Dr. Steak and I find ourselves child-free for a weekend, as the Young ‘Un is off visiting relatives out of state. Yay! Time for a serious date night, one that doesn’t involve a good restaurant close to the kid’s gym. Edgewood Café has been on our list for some time, and we were determined to finally get here. So grateful that we did. The café is tucked into one of these pre-war mini-commercial strips that dot our landscape, remnants of a time before cars and Wal-Mart and Amazon, where small groupings of 2 – 3 stores served as your corner grocery, your hair salon, your tailor. Many of these didn’t survive the post WWII boom, cars, malls, mega stores and now online shopping. Edgewood sits in one of the remaining clusters, on a quiet residential street in Havertown. It’s almost a surprise to come upon this place. We called ahead for reservations so there was no problem being promptly seated. The restaurant is cozy yet not cramped, with an open kitchen that is there but not commanding of attention. The décor is beautiful and despite there being two very large groups dining, not overly noisy or chaotic. Everything about the place is warm, muted, and smooth. We were promptly greeted by our server, who gave us most of the specials, graciously omitting those with seafood in them as I am allergic. That was sweet of him. This is not a place with a broad menu, however within the menu there is a nice range of foods, such that just about everyone can find something that interests them. The Reverend selected the Pork Chop with Apple Cider Vinegar, potatoes and an apple-caramel glaze. I choose the parmesan — encrusted chicken(basically, chicken parmesan) with ricotta gnocchi and red gravy. I also ordered the wedge salad. Everything was excellent. I have to call out one really special dish: The pork chop. The apple cider vinegar brought out interesting flavors in the pork, done perfectly, not at all chewy, tough or dry. The apple caramel glaze mixed with the potatoes added an almost dessert-like quality and also mixed with the cider vinegar gave you a really wonderful flavor experience. Combining all these elements not normally strongly associated with each other? This, folks, is talent. Skill. Creativity. Playfulness, even. In short, culinary love. Service was competent, if slightly humorous at times, like when our server asked me whether that was eggplant parmesan or «eggplant parmesan»(like did we love it or what in the tone) ! Neither, it’s chicken. He recovered well. :) The two of us ate for just under $ 60, which we paid gladly. Edgewood, you are now our official go-to place for a lovely meal. We’ll definitely be back, with friends, with family, and on our rare but treasured special date nights. You’ve won our culinary hearts.

I was interested to try this place because the name had come up a few times as a recommendation so went along last night to try it out. I had the crab cakes and he had the lamb. My portion size was perfect and it had a lot of flavor, would definitely recommend this dish and I will be back for more. The lamb was a big portion, cooked perfectly and he enjoyed it thoroughly. the BYOB is always a big hit with us because it means we can eat out more often because the check isn’t going to be doubled in price due to the alcohol. Staff were also very welcoming, friendly and efficient. Overall, a win-win for us and we both agreed that we will definitely be back soon.

One of the best restaurants in Havertown and probably the best BYO in Delco. However, it’s a huge inconvenience that you can’t make a reservation online. Their archaic process of requiring you to call, leave a voice message and then wait for a callback has, on several occasions, forced me to make reservations elsewhere.

Chef Ferro didn’t know it but we seriously put him to the test one night last month. Not one, not two, but three Unilocal Elites and serious foodies showed up to put him to the test. Although not a Unilocaler the lovely wife was along for the ride and she has a very discerning palate. SOWHATWASTHETEST? We ordered four DIFFERENT entrees and four DIFFERENT appetizers to see if Phil had the depth and breadth of experience and talent to blow us out of the water. Guess what he did it! After many many visits this wonderful BYOB is easily the premier dining destination in Havertown and challenges many restaurants in the surrounding towns! My Unilocal Elite daughter(Jennifer B.) posted several pics including– * Herb roasted pork chop with golden raisin and white peach chutney. * Coconut crusted shrimp with roasted pineapple gastrique. * Pesto roasted salmon. * Strawberries over pound cake. * Cheesecake topped with berries. We had an amazing meal with a diversity that would have challenged any chef and Phil did a superb job! Forget going into the city. Stop by here and enjoy suburban fine dining at its very best!

Finding the quintessential neighborhood restaurant is hard to do but I have excellent connections and on my first night in PA I was treated to a wonderful dining experience at Edgewood Café &BYOB. The space is large and open and offers sizable booths along one wall with tables spaced well throughout the remaining space. The kitchen is open to the dining area, and every time a dish was plated I was staring trying to guess what it was(I’m pretty good at that game). The food stands out as a creative twist on classic comfort food. From start to finish the food exceeded my expectations. We started with the Antipasto Board which had a combination of meats, cheeses, with assorted vegetables and spreads. A delicious way to start our meal and a large enough portion to be shared. We also started with Coconut Roasted Shrimp with a pineapple gastrique. The butterflied shrimp were golden with a crispy exterior and a soft interior and went well with the pineapple gastrique. I would have loved a little heat in the sauce to kick the shrimp up a notch. When my entrée appeared I’m pretty sure my eyes popped out in surprise at how large the portion was. I devoured my Herb Roasted Pork Chop with golden raisin and white peach chutney. The pork chop itself was enormous and cooked perfectly with a warm pink center, I can appreciate the skill in cooking such a thick piece of meat so perfectly(it’s not easy). The only thing preventing me from finishing my dish was the lack of remaining space in my stomach. Even though my stomach was full, desserts were a must, and we had all four(yippee)! The desserts were classic, strawberries over pound cake, cheesecake with berries and the ever so decadent chocolate cake. With our stomachs full we had dessert leftovers to take home, that quickly disappeared the next morning by my dessert thief mother. The service was top notch and it’s obvious that the staff is like family and is truly invested in the quality of food coming out of the kitchen. I enjoy the BYOB aspect that allows me to bring my favorite wine from home to enjoy with dinner. I understand liquor licenses in Havertown are hard to come by and can be quite expensive, so offering BYOB is a nice way of allowing me to indulge in my love of wine. I may live states away, but I’m already craving items on their new menu, the Rack of Lamb has my name all over it. Thank you to Edgewood for a delightful dinner, I’m looking forward to next time.

Visited: Saturday — July 27, 2014 — 8PM I ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer for $ 12.00. I received three average-sized shrimp. They were crispy, and cooked to perfection. The roasted pineapple brought an unusual but welcome texture. I received a generous portion of the Summer berry salad(Baby greens, toasted almonds, goat cheese, white balsamic vinaigrette) for $ 8.00. It was bedecked in beautiful colors of green, red, and white. Unfortunately, the salad was remarkably bland while«drowning» in the vinaigrette dressing. The eggplant parmigiana(layered with ricotta, spinach, roasted peppers, mozzarella, gnocchi marinara) for $ 18.00 was crispy where the marinara wasn’t spread. The ricotta cheese was sandwiched between the sauce and the eggplant. The gnocchi was tender but the perfectly ribbed shell suggested store bought. Unilocalers have rated the Edgewood Café an average of 4 ½ stars; I struggle to offer 3 stars. Much has to do with the server. Her quick, robotic reading of the specials implied a discouragement of questions. The reading, and noisy room, muted any interest in ordering specials. I felt that all efforts were perfunctory. Further, how often must I endure being called«guys» when I’m in the company of my female date? The food though palatable lacked salt. Trust me, I’ve cooked, baked, fried, grilled, microwaved, broiled, and boiled. An average dish transforms to exceptional with a refined treatment of salt. NOTE: I arrived about 6:30PM the previous day and ate outside. I ordered the crab cake dinner and watermelon salad. The salad, dinner, and service, was very good. If I return, I plan to arrive at 6:30PM, eating outside, ordering the watermelon salad and crab cake dinner.
