Really good! We live across the street and decided to check it out one Friday night and boy was it delicious! We started with the potato skins and then I got the spinach salad with no red onions and crab cake… My boyfriend got the chicken parm. I didn’t try his, but he said it was some of the best chicken parm he’s had. My only comment would be that the crab cake was a little too bread-like for my liking so I wouldn’t order them again. The spinach salad was so good though! It comes with a ton of fresh sliced avocado! Also– the peanut butter pie was OUTOFTHISWORLD good!

Food was ok, I expected more. Long wait for a fish sandwich which had a piece of hair in it. They gave me another plate. My wife had the Crab Cake Caesar salad with wings appetizer. Wings were really good, crab cakes were ok. Reasonable price for lunch. Would I go back… Probably but wouldn’t be my top choice to come back. Phantom Gourmet hyped this place up too much!

I really liked what i got and so did everyone else who came with. There was something for everyone and it was all good. We got there in the early lunch hour. It really isn’t a kid friendly place, though. I brought my toddler and he wasn’t bad, but it just wasn’t the environment for him. Steak, fish, and pasta all wonderful. Highly recommend. The area is formerly a sketch-tastic one, which has since cleaned up, no more Charlies place or whatever it was called… I don’t feel uncomforatble going to that part of helltown anymore. That is all.

Based upon the good Unilocal reviews we went Saturday night For the first time. The place is basically a decent local bar and restaurant with reasonable prices. Our waitress was very nice, but she had to cover a lot of tables. The appetizers were tasty, but lukewarm. The food is standard local fare, decent if your in the neighborhood, I wouldn’t go out of my way to go there again, but can’t fault a local for grabbing a bite there.

My boyfriend and I just moved across the street from Butch’s and I wish we went here sooner than we did! About 3 – 4 weeks in we finally went and it was a great experience. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food was another story. I had the jumbo spinach ravioli and it was hands down the best ravioli I have ever had! Everything tastes fresh and it didn’t make me feel bloated or anything afterwards. I’ve also had the salmon and it was just as fresh and delicious! I want to go here everyday!

We’ve been to Butch’s twice. We’ve tried to go several other times but it’s been packed and we’re not big on waiting for a table. The food’s been very good… but we won’t be back. Tonight I figured out what the wait is about. They have a very slow kitchen. We got there at 5:30 and got our food at 6:40 with maybe 50% occupancy. They’re not busy… they just don’t turn the tables over.

This place is way overrated ! I’ve been dragged in there three times and sent my meal back every time. Do not get anything fried. I do not know what they use for breading or oil, but my guess would be stale Wonder Bread and motor oil.

Friendly, attentive staff bring you a variety of American pub and Italian dishes with fine flavors and reasonable prices. Bread is delicious — always a good gauge :) The«Uncle Guido» veal parm over penne featured a light, not-overly-sweet tomato sauce with two large fried cutlets. The 8″ meatball sub was served on a fully split, soft, delicious baguette with a dense and tender meataballa. The Greens and Gorgonzola salad was fresh and delightful. All meals offered enough to take half home. Many unique specials on the board as well. Ask what the«Hot Hoopie» of the day is :) The owner’s grandmother called hot soup«hoopie» and thus a quirky menu name was born. Butch’s has made use of another great little old building in a former mill town, overlooking the fantastic brick mill across the way and is tucked away around a few corners in Haverhill. Just watch for the crosswalk with the giant forks and spoons as the hashmarks. A nice meeting place for friends or date night. Low-key, romantic atmosphere without being pretentious. From the welcoming bar area to the merlot-colored walls and rustic wooden floors, the atmosphere at Butch’s is quite cozy and charming. This hole in the wall is more like a hidden nook in a very nice wall.

Yay Butch’s! We go fairly often and always have a great meal. Their seafood is so fresh! As others have said they get fresh shipments in daily and oh it’s gooood! The french dip is another favorite and my husband loves the chicken parm. They also have a huge, free parking lot which is very convenient, especially being so close to Washington Street.

Best baked haddock and baked stuffed shrimp. Good martini. The bread pudding is delicious. Mark, the server, was great. Only negative was it was very loud. Still, I would go back again and again.

I was expecting a better experience after the reviews I had read. First of all, I didn’t think the place was all that clean. I ordered grilled salmon, with checca sauce, which is really bruschetta. The salmon was cooked well, however did not find the bruschetta very appealing with it, so I did appreciate the fact that it was served on the side. Plain white rice was served, which was very boring and the vegetable medley was suppose to have a variety of vegetables in it, as described by our waitress, but came with just carrots & green beans. My daughter did not like her hamburger at all, and my son ordered fettucini alfredo, which I tried… it was okay, but nothing to rave about.

So much for the hype. Saw this on Phantom Gourmet and was given great review. We went and it was not good. Great looking place, packed to the gills with patrons. The food was mediocre at best. I had the Broilerplate special. Broil does not mean burn. My other half ordered haddock. It was swimming in raw garlic and olive oil. Every dish that was not pasta was served with stewed tomato and peas. This made everything sweet. Staff were nice enough, and not too badly priced

I love this gem stuck in the middle of the Haverhill resurgence. Butch’s has a nice bar area and a good volume generated from those that frequent it. It seems to have the«regulars» with a few«one timers» mixed in. The restaurant has daily specials and I believe all the food products are fresh and not frozen. I have had several of the specials and the fried scallops are very good as is the chicken parm. I have seen many people eating the prime rib and I know they run out earlier in the night on busy days. The décor is somewhat mid century with metal ornate plates lining the ceiling. The high ceilings don’t help to disburse the noise from the bar area and it is tough to hear people at your actual table.

Absolutely wonderful!!! So popular that we had to wait over 30 min. But well worth the wait! Our party of four went with the seafood selection of the menu, and it was not to be disappointed. Absolutely wonderful, fresh and baked to perfection!!!

Very loud inside but the service is excellent and the quality of the food is top notch and very hot the way I like it. I recommend the specials they offer here. I had the stuffed haddock which was excellent. For dessert, I tried the bread pudding which is delicious but GIGANTIC.

I’ve waited a while to write a review because I don’t want others to learn about this little gem! We’ve been four weekends in a row. Every visit, we’ve both ordered different things so here’s the rundown: Fettuccine Alfredo — well you’d think it were a portion for three because it’s huge!!! It was delicious and the chicken was moist. Solid B+ Steak quesadilla(a special): also huge and awesome NY sirloin with cheese, etc. That was a winner. A! Wings: outstanding and there were a lot of them. B+! Spaghetti with marinara: Simple and damn tasty. Sauce was fresh and light while the pasta was cooked perfectly. Grilled cheese with onions, tomato and avocado: A man’s sandwich. This thing was a monster and very, very good. Solid A. Baked haddock: now this was a solid A, as well. Perhaps a wee bit under-seasoned but it was a beautiful piece of fish, cooked perfectly. Oh and those mashed potatoes!!! Mother of God. Steak tips: very, very decent. Not marinated but nicely seasoned. Their home cut fires were awesome. I’ll give that a B+. Rib-eye steak with Gorganzola Butter(special): very good but a tiny bit on the ‘too fatty’ side. The Cole slaw was great and the house salad was excellent! Solid B. Now the king is the homemade bread pudding. Wow, wow, wow. Perfect texture… Perfect! A+. An awesome establishment with delicious food, excellent service and a great environment.
