As a biz traveler I was here for the night. I saw the great reviews and headed there for dinner. I ordered the shrimp etouffe. I wasn’t impressed. The sauce was watery and virtually tasteless. Apparently the chef tried to cover this lack of flavor by adding hot sauce — lots of it. The shrimp were plentiful but were chewy and rubbery. Like the sauce, they had no flavor. Overall, the dish tasted like a frozen packaged product that had been purchased at Sam’s or Costco to be microwaved at home. Yeah, it was that bad. On a positive note the hostess and wait staff were all friendly and helpful. It pains me to write a negative review for a non-chain restaurant. We desperately need more of them. However, we need them to serve great dishes. I honestly hope that I was at Cresent City when they were having an «off» night or maybe a new cook prepared my dish. One can certainly hope.

I’ve eaten here on several occasions and it has proven to be one of the best dining options in Hattiesburg. The atmosphere is very nice(a little noisy, so not an intimate environment) and the food is great. Have been able to try several things but my favorite so far is the Shrimp & Grits(though I recommend trying the Crawfish & Grits when they’re in season). Dessert is very good here too — recommend the Pecan Pie.

Stopped for a «passing through town» lunch. Just outstanding! Food was excellent, as was the service.

Food was good, but the service was terrible. Had to ask for our drinks twice and our Togo boxes. Plus one person in our party didn’t get the proper add ons to their burger(bacon).

Great place to eat and relax, my wife and I came into town. Heard about this being the place to eat in town from our hotel staff, they said they would be busy, but said to check the bar and outside patio, open seating. Walked right in and found a seat. Service and food were exceptional. They offer over 1000 different wines and 150 beers, 40 on tap. I ordered a special beer and was told they were out, but they made a quick run to the store and provided me with what I wanted to try. Recommend this place to all!

There are plenty of reviews here so I’ll be brief. I rate places by how they do what I go there to do. I go to crescent city for cajun cuisine, and it rarely disappoints. I also go here often when entertaining friends/family from out of town, and it also shines there, as the atmosphere is lively and the beer list is excellent, though not without gaps. I’ve never had a bad meal here, most are excellent, but I did have a bland crawfish étouffée once, and the bisque meal could be larger. The soft shell crab claws are always excellent, and the pastas are awesome, as is the cheese enchilada! The redfish dishes are also very good. I also often review the bathrooms of restaurants, just cause it’s a thing for me, to have a nice clean bathroom. The bathroom is tiny and cramped, but usually clean. Go there if you’re in Hattiesburg, a definite recommend. I don’t give 5 stars mainly because the service and food is not consistently excellent, but is usually is.

I’m thankful that Hattiesburg is starting to have better options that Crescent City. I’ve eaten here many, many times, but after the last time, I decide it was the last time. The service gets worse and worse. I took my two daughters there for a daddy-daughter night, and the waitress served me before she served them. She left our dirty appetizer plates on the table while we ate our entrees and we continually had to ask for drinks, etc. If this had been the first time we had received this kind of service here, I could overlook it… but it’s been the last several times, and the food is not good enough to trump the service. The corn & crab bisque is still great… the oysters that we had were horrible. Dirty oysters are never welcome. Unless I’m getting a burger at the bar(Mahogany…which is always the preferred option) I can’t see myself ever coming back.

This is a staple when I am in Hattiesburg. The corn and crab bisque if perhaps one of my favorite things. It is a must have while I am in town. One thing to note is there is no lunch menu, so be prepared to hey dinner prices even during lunch, however the food is delicious and well worth the price. There are seasonal menus, such as the oyster menu during the fall, as well as varying fresh fish. You have your choice of Crescent City Grill for a formal sit down, the mahogany bar for a relaxed bar atmosphere, or the outside patio. The service is always excellent, and the beer selection is second to none. I always tend to order an old fashioned when I can, and the mahogany bar has their own take of it, which is very delicious. I highly recommend that you try this restaurant if you are passing through town, because I don’t have to tell the locals because they already know it.

Cho! Co! Dat be some dang good food! Ok sorry, my inner Cajun was coming out but this place has some great food and cocktails. Wish it was closer, we would be regulars. The Crescent City Crab Cakes with Orleans Topping was incredible as was the Lobster & Shrimp Pasta. Wurlitzer Prize is a fantastic cocktail to go along with the meal. Go, you won’t be sorry.

Although not spectacular, this was the best part of our stay at this Sheraton. But for the purposes of this review, I’ll stick to the restaurant located therein. We had a breakfast buffet here that included plenty of fruit, excellent biscuits and gravy, well cooked bacon, sausage, and scrambled eggs. Everything was up to a typical breakfast buffet standard, the waiter was great, and they have a few pastries and cold cereal as well. Pricey for what you get, but I’d request a free voucher at the front desk.

Since moving to Marietta, GA Crescent City has been the one restaurant I’ve missed most! Crescent City is a taste of the south and New Orleans with a spin on their own dishes. First, appetizers are a must– during crawfish season they have crawfish pie which is a creamy cheese sauce full of crawfish wrapped in puff pastry but during off season they offer Shrimp Pie which is amazing too The nachos, crab wontons, and oysters are great choices too! Second, they offer a large variety of entrees but, my favorite has to be the Swamp Thing Sandwich which fried shrimp, fried jalapeños, grilled onions, remoulade sauce on a hoagie roll. I’ve eaten my way through the Bayou Favorites Entrees and the Cajun Enchiladas similar to the crawfish or shrimp pie except with tortillas and severed with dirty rice, seafood crepes, shrimp carnival and shrimp and grits are all so tasty! The Mardi Grad Pasta is shrimp with a spicy cream sauce that’s sooooo good And save room for dessert because their bread puddling melts in your mouth!!! I could eat a whole pan of the bread puddling! Crescent city also has a great selection of house cocktails and a great bar inside the restaurant called Mahogany Bar that’s great to have drinks and appetizers with friends after hours!

Came in for a to-go order. We waited about 15 minutes since we didn’t call ahead, which was not too long. However it would have been nice to have been offered a water while we waited. Not a big deal though. We asked for to-go waters after our boxes arrived. Just FYI, their soups are only in bowl sizes to-go. My boyfriend got the shrimp étouffée which was spicy and didn’t have much flavor other than that, but it at least looked good. I got the pasta jambalaya, which was alright. I wish the sauce had a little more richness in the cream. Otherwise it’s a decent place to try out.

Just passing thru, road trip with the family, saw this on Unilocal, plus close to our Hotel, so we gave it a try. The menu for this place is pretty big, wanted to try all of it, but the wife and I and the kiddos, went fried, I had the Oyster and Shrimp Po boy, loads of shrimp and oysters, big huge bun, pickles and onions, also had the sweet potato fries. I liked my Po boy overall, just wish the shrimp we’re larger, the shrimp seemed small, just a bit bigger than cocktail shrimp, the oysters on the other hand we’re huge, nice taste, not fishy. It also had fried jalapeños for a good kick. The wife had the Shrimp Po boy, again she said tasty, but shrimp small, loads of shrimp also. Kiddos also had kids fried shrimp, and guess what? Same small shrimp, kids meal was loaded with choice of 2 sides, and ice cream dessert., they loved it. The wife and I had the Hot apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream, this hit the spot, the wife took command of the plate and that was the last time I saw my dessert, all and a very good place, thanks Hattiesburg. We had a great waiter.

I’ve been waiting to review this place and now after my 3rd trip, the time has come. Let me preface with that I have only sat in the bar section of this restaurant, but the food is the same and I imagine the wait staff should be pretty similar. The beer — their selection of local and craft beer is impressive for any standards. An incredible selection that forces one to have at least one too many to ensure you try all that looking appealing. The food — I had a cup of Gumbo Ya Ya and a blackened chicken sandwich with fruit(this time). The gumbo is stellar and the sandwich is a perfect companion for several beverages. Fired jalapeños dress a perfectly spicy sandwich and the fruit is fresh and sweet. The rest — the wait staff is knowledgable and the ambiance is ultra welcoming. I’ve only been to Hattiesburg 3 times, but come here every time I’m in town and have never been disappointed. This place rates on my «Highly Recommended» list.
