This is a great spot for pastries, coffee, and lunch in the ol’ Hat. I’ve tried many of the pastries, and they were all delicious to me, and the lunch and breakfast sandwiches are great too. Their Black Forest cake is excellent – we ordered a small one for a party – and their King Cakes are the best in town. I love the little fruit tarts as well. I only wish they were open a bit later and that their dining room was a bit more comfortable. Try it if you haven’t already!

Are there was traveling through the area stop by early one morning for breakfast and ordered an omelet along with a French pastry. What happened with the exception of the pastries all the food is made to order and service was very Swift and fast. The restaurant occupies the section of a strip shopping center near the interstate and also busy four lane Highway. Funny free parking is available along with indoor and outdoor seating. Definitely plan on visiting again next time I’m in the area.

Absolutely love this place! Great food, environment and staff! Exceptional, outstanding service always. Strongly recommend their breakfast wrap with all the vegetables they have to offer and a vanilla chai latte, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Was so excited to finally get to go to this French bakery and it was not a disappointment-Croissant breakfast sandwich was amazing as well as the omelette. We all split a blueberry pastry– will definitely be back!

I had the most wonderful experience at C’est La Vie today. While passing through town I stopped for a croissant and had no idea they only accept cash. I had none on me, and the kindhearted owners gave it to me on the house. This would’ve been kind enough even if the croissant hadn’t been as wonderful as it was! This bakery is delicious and definitely worth getting cash out to visit!

Amazing! The pastries and the service are both 5 stars. I ordered a café au lait(smooth, yet strong) and an almond croissant(crispy, flavorful). It was all so good that I grabbed a fruit tart on my way out. The fruit tart was mounded high with delicious, fresh, fruit. If you haven’t stopped in, you’re missing the best start to your day.

The owner is extremely nice. The pastries are really good. Breakfast items are ok but I would recommend sticking to pastries and drinks.

This place has some great items, but there’s a few things that annoy me: they only take cash, they close extremely early(2pm!), and they don’t make enough of a lot of their pastries(they run out of a lot way before they close). I thought the truffles were way better than the éclair, which lacked in flavor and was thus disappointing.

I found this place on Unilocal and decided to give it a go… Was not disappointed. The pastries were reminiscent of what I was used to, while living in Europe. Definitely a must go to when I’m in Hattiesburg. BTW, they except cash or check — no credit cards

This little place is unbelievable! I have been here twice. The pastries are light and delicious! My husband had the éclair last week and he said it was delicious! I enjoyed the blueberry scone and was so happy with its taste & texture. The cinnamon rolls are flaky and perfectly flavored, not too sweet! This is definitely on my «go to» list when in Hattie! CASHORCHECKONLY!!!

**EDIT: ended up throwing away my brownies cause they were disgusting. What a waste of good cash. Dropping it down to 1 star now. Never EVER coming back. Seriously, UP your standards if the owner ever bothers to read this.** I was conflicted between giving it 1 or 2 stars but went with 2. My biggest complaints are actually simple: if it’s a french bakery why are there no crepes or macaroons?! My two favorite french desserts! Or even a cupcake! I know cupcakes aren’t a french creation but I have never been to a bakery that didn’t sell a cupcake or a variation, thereof. That’s my go to dessert if I don’t spot anything I like. I was in the mood for chocolate so I settled on a brownie. Or 2. Actually I had asked for the raspberry round chocolate truffle things(can’t remember the name now) but the lady at the bakery gave me brownies for some odd reason. I didn’t notice that until I opened the bag when I got home, oh well. May I also add, they had brownies but no cupcakes? Why have one American creation in a FRENCH bakery but not the other? A ate a piece of one, and it was pretty bad. Tasted like it was made out of cream cheese and had the consistency of a cheese cake more so than the flaky crust with fluffy chocolaty base that I absolutely love! I really wanted something distinctly French but sadly I can bake a better brownie in my oven any day. Not a fan. Probably won’t be back. Perhaps I’m used to the fast-paced life of bigger towns but I can’t remember the last time I went to a store and they only accepted cash or check… Do people even use checks anymore for retail/grocery purchases? I never carry cash but I keep some for emergency purposes so I used that. Beware if you’re too clumsy for cash and therefore, only carry credit cards. If you’re like me, and love to enjoy a nice crêpe with a nice cup of coffee at your house, you’ll be disappointed to find that this is a pretty basic and«meh» bakery. I can’t believe someone who had been to France liked this bakery! This is nothing like the Paris bakeries I have grown to obsess and drool over!

An unexpected gem in the Deep South. Cinnamon roll — perfectly flakey and not too sweet. Blueberry scone, equally delicious. They even had cold brew iced coffee. It’s a mistake not to give this place a shot. Wish there was one in Knoxville.

One of the best bakeries I’ve ever been to! From the workers to the baked goods, everything is just superb. First, let me talk a little bit about the people who work there. Right when you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm hello and a smile which I love. Even the owner/baker will come out and talk with you and bit and just make you feel so welcomed, like you’re family. Even when it’s super busy, they still take the time out to talk to you and make sure you get everything you want, and if you don’t know what you want, they’re more than happy to help you decide. Next the baked goods. There’s just not enough I can say about their goodies. Everything is baked fresh that day so you know when you buy something that it’s going to be delicious. They have everything from sugar cookies to cakes. They will even make cakes for you if you request it and the turnaround time is super fast. You can tell they give special attention to each and every little thing they bake and it definitely comes out in the taste. The only thing is, since they make everything fresh that day, there’s only a limited number of items and believe me when I say they run out fast! This is a bakery I plan on coming to for as long as I’m here in Hattiesburg and I encourage everyone to try it out!

Amazing little bakery in the heart of Hattiesburg. You wouldn’t think a bakery in a strip mall would be so divine, but it surprisingly is. Upon deciding I wanted some French pastries and doubting that Hattiesburg had anything remotely French I searched and discovered this gem. I took years of French in college and having many true French professors who were sweet enough to bring traditional French baked items to us in class, I once in a while dream of them and yearn for the flavorful goodness in my mouth. This bakery cured all of my cravings. The owner is actually directly from France! He was very kind and gave me a free pastry when I was talking to him in French(lol) about my professor and their baked goods. I had the berry tart and the free lemon one. Both divine. If you want something overly sweet, go to an American bakery where all you taste is NOTHING but sugar. French pastries have flavor and texture. Oh, and the coffee here is on point! No Folgers here. Get out of your comfort zone and try this little bakery out. You won’t be disappointed.

Chocolate croissant Easily the best pastry in town. Crunchy, light, and deep chocolate flavor without being overly sweet.

Made the hubster stop while driving home from NOLA. I needed sweet. I just forgot that French pastries are not sweet like American sweet. That being said, I had asked for an eclaire and encouraged the hubs to get cheesecake — which he loves but the American version with the graham cracker crust. This was the French version with the pastry crust. It was a beautiful work of art and it was tasty to me while being very different from cheesecake that I am used to. I also got a caramel mochachino or some fancy coffee and that was superb.
