At check in we were greeted at the front desk by a phone w/a note to dial 304 for service. We requested late check out & were granted a noon check out. Our room was on the ground level near the stairs & the unlocked back door. That unlocked door did make me wonder about access and safety? It was nice to be so close to an exit since we were traveling w/our dog, not so nice when we realized we could hear other guests going up & down the stairs. Warning, the folks above us came in late, had guests in their room, we could hear it all! To describe the walls as paper thin would be very generous. This room felt dirty & ill appointed, from the filthy yellow arm chair, to the ancient stand alone table with no chairs around it sitting in the middle of the floor, & the lumpy bed. No one in this hotel was thinking about their guests in regard to comfort. Jump ahead to 11 ish the next day & someone was banging at our door saying it was ‘time to check out’, despite our request for late check out! It was very off putting, we left with a feeling of having been run out of our room. There are, even with pets in tow and at the same value conscious price point, many of other options. Vote with your dollars stay elsewhere.

We checked in and quickly realized the room was disgusting, there were stains on the pillows and blankets and the bathroom was dirty. I called down to the front desk to ask for a different room because ours was gross. The man at the desk told me they were completely booked so he couldn’t give us a different room. I asked him if he could have someone clean the room or at least change the sheets and pillow cases, he told me the maid staff was gone for the night so there was nothing he could do. I asked for a refund so we could go somewhere else and he told me he couldn’t do that because I booked through Expedia. SO many excuses to keep me unhappy!

We travel with our dog and as such we are limited to certain motels, Super * being one of them. We were hesitant to stay at a Super 8 since in general they are on the lower end. This hotel was older and the rooms were a bit dated. However, they were clean and the staff was helpful and friendly. The gentleman at the desk was helpful and explained that he was working hard to update the place. He had recently upgraded the Breakfast and it showed. While a bit older, they were heads above the other motels from this chain that we have stayed at.

I stayed at the Super 8 for 4 nights. The motel is a bit older than others in the area, but the rooms were clean, the staff was very friendly and they did provide a continental breakfast. I stopped first at another motel in the area and their price per night was $ 25 more than the Super 8, though they did advertise a more extensive breakfast and the motel looked newer. However, to me, clean is clean no matter the age and I can buy a pretty good breakfast at one of the restaurants in the area with the money I saved. I look forward to staying here the next time I’m in Hastings.

Poor customer service — I would not recommend staying at this motel. I was erroneously informed by an employee that I could not cancel an upcoming reservation due to it being made on the Internet. He was very rude about it as well.
