Two stars are for the two guys making my sushi who were, if nothing else, very friendly. Just picked up lunch from this place, and was pretty disappointed. I ordered the lunch special with a salmon avocado roll, ebi tempura, and spicy tuna roll. The salmon and tuna were waaaay too fishy. No way they were fresh. The ebi tempura was the only thing that was edible. The rest will have to go to the garbage. Won’t be back.

Friend had found this place just by looking on Unilocal. It was in a little strip mall, which did not necessarily deter me from having an open mind but as soon as I walked in, I saw the interior is definitely nicer than I would have expected. I can sometimes be picky with my sushi, but was pleased with the selection. I ordered the Dynamite and Las Vegas rolls. Las Vegas roll came out first and was very good. Had a bit of a kick to it, which was a nice surprise, though it was a little hard to me to pick up with my chopsticks. The Dynamite roll was awesome. Had chopped scallions on top and had so much flavor. My friend had the orange roll, which she said was also very good, but I believe she agreed mine was better. Am not from this area, but would recommend to anyone visiting.

Really good — byob. We went to all you can eat place nearby and wait was too long. We ordered plenty and only spent $ 5 more than we would have at all you can eat. Really fresh and great service. If I could make a suggestion, I’d ask them to dim the lights.

Located in a strip mall right off the main steet, and offering ample parking, the place isn’t hard to find. We came here after reading the great reviews on Unilocal.Well done Unilocalers! This place was a hit for us and we will definitely be going back. The food was tasty and fresh; also offering an array of vegetarian options. yay! The staff is friendly and attentive which to me, is a key component to good experience; along with quality food, Thumps up! The only reason I’m refraining from giving them 5 stars is due to the cashier texting while I waited almost ten minutes to checkout. Otherwise, I’m a fan.

I am a big fan of sushi, but I could never find the perfect place that was close by and delicious. Nami Sushi has the best sushi that I have eaten to this day. It is a little expensive, but that is to be expected. I would recommend this place for first time sushi eaters because it will leave you with a good first impression of sushi. The staff is really friendly and very good at their jobs.

Stopped in for lunch today. The sushi was wonderful but the service was really lacking! The rolls and pieces were large, the fish was fresh and the rice was firm and sticky. The flavor was spot on, nothing overwhelmed its counterparts. The restaurant is quaint and nice; an intimate spot for a strip mall sushi spot. The service was just really lacking though at very best. I almost knocked my score down to 3 stars because our server was borderline rude. There was one guy at the bar and only one other table that came in half way through our meal. She never smiled once, didn’t trouble herself with casual pleasantries with us(or anyone in the restaurant) only stopped over one time to check on us. She never refilled our drinks either. We asked for a separate bill at the beginning of the meal(it’s a business lunch), had to ask for the bill to be brought, then had to ask again for the bill to be split because she didn’t split it. And all of these seemed like a chore for her. At least the sushi chefs seemed in a good mood and said goodbye as we left. They did an amazing job. Good job gentlemen! You are the reason this place scores as high as it does!

I have become a regular here. Like 4 – 6 times a month. The owner and chef are great guys, very dedicated to sushi and very humble. They produce consistently good sushi at great prices. They also have a creative flair for their rolls that is just right — not overdone — there’s good separation of flavor. Also I’m told there’s something special they do that gives their rolls a unique taste. And I believe it. I love this place and I hope these guys notice my review. They’ve earned it. Some cool things… You can get«black» rice. Lunch combo’s and specials are very satisfying Table and sushi bar seating — BYOB MAKIMONOCOMBO!

The usual sushi take-out in our neighborhood(LFM) had an out-of-control line on a Saturday evening. According to what hubby reported, there were sixteen(16) people waiting! It was a clear sign that I needed to seek for an alternative sushi spot. Proceeding to the west end of Lawrence Ave. in Harwood Heights, Nami Sushi was one of many restaurants in the strip mall. It was our first time here and everything appeared to be quite legit. Hubby almost missed the turn into the strip mall parking lot because he couldn’t read the large, navy blue neon-light sign. I had to admit; it was very bright and our eyes hurt. Nevertheless, we were able to read the menu just fine. Rosa J. let hubby call the shots this time: 1) takoyaki: the octopus balls themselves were decent, but I felt that sauce was supposed to be more«savory» than«cloying.» This appetizer wasn’t awful, but I knew I’ve had better takoyaki elsewhere. 2) hamachi jalapeño rolls: the jalapeño peppers really overpowered the salmon. The fish needed to be the protagonist, but I sensed that jalapeño outshone Ms. Salmon. 3) spring blossom rolls: they weren’t that memorable and distinguishing. The only fact I could give you was that the main fish was tuna. 4) Las Vegas rolls: they were messy to eat. Each roll was more than a bite-size. My strategy was to open my mouth wide so that it wouldn’t fall apart, yet majority of the components still dropped into the soy sauce pool. If you like cream cheese and imitation crab, LV rolls would be worth of a gamble. The total was $ 41 and some change prior tipping. Nami Sushi was a honorary four(4)-star place because the service was attentive and the facility was clean and well-maintained. I won’t mind coming back if I poke around the neighborhood. In terms of sushi, I will have to explore other signature maki rolls or just stick to the basic nigiri of sashimi.

My first real attempt at trying sushi. I’ve had a roll or 2 in the past but this was full on sushi time-and it was phenomenal! I’m so excited to have liked it and want more! Lol! Woot! I chose this place due to the variety of items and great reviews. I’m glad I did. :)

What a gem! I ordered take-out through GrubHub over the weekend and definitely took a chance on Nami, because not only had I never heard of it, I didn’t even know where it was located. I’m so glad I did! Nami is EXCELLENT. I WAY over ordered, but figured there would be leftovers for my man when he got hungry. Here’s what makes Nami so great: 1. rice-to-fish ratio on nigiri — very little rice, huge slice of fish. A+ 2. size of sashimi slices — thick. 3 bites, easily. A+ 3. rice-to-filling ration on rolls — again, very little rice, lots of filling. A+ Nami really gets it. I don’t want a roll overloaded with rice, I want a roll overloaded with FLAVOR, and they deliver. Through Grubhub, you can opt to add spice to any roll, as well as sub soy paper for seaweed or brown rice for traditional. I like that. I also like that when I picked up my order, the cashier gave me a menu with their website, stating if I order through them directly rather than grubhub, there are MORE delicious rolls to choose from! Here is what I tried: AJ’s Roll — mayo, spicy fresh salmon. tempura crunch, fresh salmon on top, topped with wasabi mayo Salmon skin roll Negi-toro roll add spicy Spider roll add spicy In addition, I also ordered several pieces of nigiri and/or sashimi: white tuna(for the Mr.) hamachi(my fav) unagi namasake tamago(because they don’t have inari) ikura(my other fav) Everything was extremely fresh and well made. While it is pricier than an AYCE option(i.e. Umami Sushi up the street) the options are definitely more plentiful and the quality is higher. Now, just to convince my man that it’s worth it!

Went here a couple days with my girlfriend. Only had one person working the front but it wasn’t too big of a deal. We tried the dragon and California which were pretty good. Not my favorite sushi place but it’s close to home and it was good enough to give it a second try. 4 stars!

No wonder this restaurant has a near perfect rating! My first time ordering here, as I was craving sushi. The rolls were all intact, as I could tell the delivery gentleman took great care in driving. Fresh salmon and tuna. LARGE pieces of vegetable tempura. Will definitely come here for dine in. YUM!

The sushi was ahhhmazing! Here with a group of 6, so we ordered tons of rolls and every single roll wether it was signature or classic was very detailed. The fish was super fresh and yes the edamame was hot(don’t u hate warm edamame). And best of all BYOB and liquor store next door. Definitely coming back.

Tonight was a win-win for Nami Sushi and us. I was able to redeem my first online discount for using the Unilocal Check in feature. We save money on Tax and they have two more satisfied customers. Jason really wanted sushi last night. I prefered to have a Japanese dish. He wanted to go to the All-You-Can-Eat at Fuji Ya. I told him I didn’t feel like eating Korean food. I made up my mind because I had an opportunity to save face. I told Abel, a Unilocal Friend, that I would come here one day… and that was last year! Well, it didn’t take much convincing; telling Jason I had a 10% off coupon was enough incentive to get him to agree… finally! As soon as we walked in, the sushi bar faced us head on. We were greeted immediately by 2 servers and 2 Hispanic Sushi chefs! What?! I deducted a star for Nami’s layout. It’s like no other restaurant we’ve ever been to. Jason liked it! I get it but the compartmentalization made me feel confined by its square footage. The only other constructive criticism is, the place needs two more TVs: one facing South on the Northeast wall and the other, along a wall in the hallway towards the bathroom. More sports, less music. We normally sit across from each other. This was one of those rare occasions where I switched seats, and sat next to my boyfriend, so we could both watch the NFL Playoff game. Jason ordered the Kaki Fry(deep fried breaded octopus with teriyaki sauce) and Nami Sushi Dinner [one California roll with 10 pieces of nigiri sushi(2 tuna, salmon, yellow tail, shrimp and eel)]. Because of its prices, I was relieved to see that the rice to fish portion was accurate. The Sashimi had good coloring; it was fresh and cold. Its rice condiment impressed me. When I bit into a piece of his California roll, I was relieved. There were distinct differences between the steamed rice which accompanied my Salmon Teriyaki with sauteed vegetables and his Nigiri Sushi. The whole order was incredibly delicious, including my sauteed veggies(thank you for more pepper, less salt). Now, if you would add Tonkatsu and cabbage with Japanese mayonnaise salad… Thank you, Chefs! You obviously didn’t open a Japanese/Sushi restaurant based on your looks. You were well trained and we appreciate it! The raw and cooked dishes you make come well porportioned, flavorful and respectfully representative of my favorite country’s food. In my opinion, green tea best compliments Japanese food; if you disagree, you have the option to Bring Your Own Beverage(BYOB).

This is a very nice neighborhood sushi bar. It is very clean and simple and I like the dark paneling. The sushi I had was very good and fresh. The gyoza was yummy and Christopher enjoyed his chicken teriyaki bento box. He wishes they served tonkatsu, but at least he had an alternate to sushi. Yes, we have a mixed marriage. I love sushi, he hates it. We always manage to make it work out though We will be back. It isn’t all that far away and it is nice to find a quality place that is reasonable and inviting.

A pretty tasty sushi place — try it out! I made reservations here for 7:30 on a Friday night. They weren’t needed. When we walked in, there was one other table occupied and top 40 music was playing. I got nervous of my choice of restaurant for the evening, but that nervousness was short lived. First of all, a tip. We were newbies here and when I checked in via Unilocal,we got a coupon for 10% off our total bill. Nice. We started with the gyoza. They gave us 6 large dumplings with a tasty sauce. The gyoza came out extremely hot(didn’t notice it right away and just about burned myself), but definitely prefer piping hot to just lukewarm. We ordered 4 rolls, though I can’t remember all the names of them, but one was definitely the hamachi jalapeño roll. It was delightfully spicy. Really all the rolls were great, except I didn’t care for the Negi Saba, not because the fish wasn’t fresh, but I think I just don’t like mackarel. I’d skip it next time. Our waitress was great — checking on us often and taking cues from us if we needed something. Oh, and the place is BYOB! We were brought wine glasses and a chilling bucket immediately upon our arrival. The place may not look like much from the outside, being located in a strip mall, but looks can be deceiving. I will definitely come back soon for the great sushi.
