This store is very run down. The prices are way too high and out of line with other stores for the exact same items. If it wasn’t fo the permanent sign on the building I would have sworn this was a pop up store.

This review is for the Paramus NJ store on Route 17 S. What a depressing place this is? when you walk inside it is dark and looks like a funeral parlor and sure enough the person that came over to «help» us fit the part! I guess this person is someone from another industry, certainly not sales who is making do here! The prices were very high and needless to say we left posthaste!

Wow. I’m a bit surprised at the other reviews here. We had a great experience here. Here’s how it went down: We shopped around a lot, and did a lot of research for our teak table set. And I mean a LOT. This is a pretty big purchase. And one that you only want to make once every 20 years. So we were all over Fortunoff and (strange brick and mortar name imho) for a few weeks, right during their Labor Day sales(Fortunoff was way cheaper than btw). Then, after using those stores as reference, we concentrated our search online, hitting everywhere you could imagine: Amazon, Wayfair, Home Depot, etc. But those prices were only marginally less(if at all). And since the pieces were from different companies, we had no idea about the quality. And a lot of stuff was out of stock(end of season, etc). We were initially leaning toward a teak set at Fortunoff, which(on mega sale) was hitting around $ 1,600, with 6 chairs. But the table was small-ish, and didn’t have the key«double hole» allowing you to use an umbrella regardless of whether the table was fully extended or not. On a whim we ducked into Harrows, up the road. Sure. The outside leaves something to be desired. It’s pretty sparse decoration-wise, and definitely a throwback in terms of «architecture.» But we parked and went in. Right away, we were greeted by a smiling salesperson, Ali, who walked us over to the teak section. Immediately we noticed that their comparable table had a) the«double hole» we wanted, and was b) much longer than the Fortunoff table at full extension. It also had two extension leaves, allowing for more flexibility. The quality of the wood was better, too. Especially the chairs, which were amazingly well-built and sturdy. In all, this table was coming in at $ 2300, with 8 chairs, and a high-end umbrella. So, a bigger, better quality, and better-designed table and chairs, more chairs, a great umbrella, for marginally more money? It seemed at least on-par price-wise with the«Super Mega Labor Day Sale» price at Fortunoff, and the quality, size, flexibility, and«double hole» made it a no-brainer. They also promised to deliver within a few days(they did). We also decided to substitute 2 «recliner» teak chairs(for the ends) which actually reduced our price quite a bit. And, after looking around everywhere, we ended up buying the table cover from Harrows, too, because it was the only cover that went all the way to the ground(important). Their price was also cheaper than we could find it anywhere online. We did end up buying the cushions at Fortunoff, because, even though they were made for another type of chair, they fit perfectly(and, remember, it was the«Super Mega Labor Day Sale»). Harrows had simply run low on their cushion selection(remember, end-of-season). We also didn’t buy our umbrella base there, because their selection was pretty scant, too. But that’s okay($ 25 Amazon Prime + 50lb pre-filled umbrella base = poor UPS guy, lol). Overall, we went to Harrows a few times, over a week, looking, sitting, talking, asking dumb questions, comparing, and the whole time Ali was awesome. Always fair. Always helpful. Sometimes she would even say«let me see if we can do a bit better on this price» and she would go talk to the manager, and he would come over, and we’d get a little extra break here or there. Not much, but just enough to make us feel that they genuinely cared about our experience, and our business. Ali even followed up with some simple, helpful hints/tips on how to take care of our table, and how to help it survive the winter. Pretty standard, I’m sure, but we appreciated it. Just the«right amount» of contact. Now, maybe the management/employees are different now, than when these other reviews were written? But, for us(as of August 2013), Harrows was awesome. The physical selection was better than anything we saw(their showroom, while simple, is huge), and their prices were certainly competitive(equal or better than online and Fortunoff, and they simply blew out of the water). So, that’s it. Our experience was a great one. So definitely put them in your consideration set for outdoor furniture. If we ever need to buy anything else like that(certainly not a table, we have that done). /written, from a laptop, out on our deck, sitting in an awesome new teak chair, at our awesome new teak table. e

I agree with the other review that this place is pretty run down looking from the outside. Their windows lack any kind of display and you can see what look slike junk just piled up near the back room door… unprofessional. I bought my patio table and chairs here 2 years ago. I really wish we shopped around more because we bought our set for over $ 2000… we were out of our minds!!!

We were checking out some patio furniture last weekend and decided to stop by Harrow’s. It actually didn’t even register in my mind that there was a Harrow’s in the area, even though I pass it nearly every day. But when we arrived, I immediately figured out why; this place totally looks like it’s out of business. There’s rarely any cars in the lot, there no people walking around the entrance, the exterior is drab and neglected, and the windows appear to have stacks of crap in them. I’ll say this though, they have a huge selection on site, that’s for sure. Everything from outdoor couches, to giant umbrellas, to patio dining sets and just about everything else you can think. Unfortunately, the pricing is sky high, and in my opinion doesn’t really reflect the quality of the items, which looks to be average at best. We ultimately got a great quality patio set on Amazon for a fraction of the price with free delivery.
