Cross Country Automotive

Just like the other reviewer, my husband was rear-​ended and our car was brought here. First they wouldn’t release it to us because our car was unregistered (neither their fault or ours– when we bought it, the dealer never registered it). We were then told it would be a specific price– in cash– to pick it up.
We gathered our cash and went back the next day to get the car. Then they told us it was an extra $ 50 because they used a special pulley to pick up our car, which they knew the day before and did not tell us until the SECOND time we were there. PLUS they charged us for two days to hold the car, despite being there as early as we could. Our car was there for 27 hours. Not two days by any stretch.
If I am ever hit by anyone again, I will insist that my car NOT be taken here no matter what. They have you by the you-know-what’s and they know it.

When the Hartford police towed my friend’s car after we got rear ended by an idiot drunken high driver, they used Cross Country. We should have known there were going to be issues when my friend went to swing by to get our stuff so we could crash in the hotel and they refused to even let him get near his own car. Err, dudes, that’s our luggage and stuff?
The next morning, we decided to go to pick up the car. The damage was mostly cosmetic and we needed to get to a wedding in Boston! We got to the location and of course, it was closed, even though the guys there the night before had said to come after 9am. We call the number and the dude who picks up says he won’t be there for an hour. We try to negotiate with him, and he says fine, 15 minutes. As more and more people show up, trying to get their cars, time passes on and on. It took this dude about 2 hours to get there so we could get the car! And it looked like he had just rolled out of bed.
Turns out, we couldn’t have the car. It was registered to my friend’s father, and they needed a copy of his license, and he is an orthodox Jew who was in shul. After numerous attempts to rent a car, which failed miserably, we finally got a hold of my friend’s dad and got a copy of his license faxed to Cross Country.
We went back, and even though we had called the office and spoken to the guy, once we got there, he was gone again! We kept calling and he started being very rude, hanging up on us and other customers. When we finally got the car, the back bumper had been shoved into the back seat on top of our luggage and stuff. Thanks for that.
Terrible experience, you really don’t need to deal with crap like this after you’ve been in a car accident!
