I have been to multiple different Michael’s and their competitor Hobby Lobby. This store in particular is my favorite. They have what I need and are very helpful if I can’t find an item. Always helpful with ideas for my projects. Staff is happy and energetic. Store is clean and well organized. I’ve never had a problem checking out, even when it’s really busy. Hobby lobby is the worst, they have to type in the bar code for every item.

We had a map framed recently in the custom framing — the price was not great, but I thought «Oh well, it’ll be done quickly and it’s easier than finding a framing store» — turns out no. We had to call four times when it wasn’t ready by the stated date and after bringing it home we noticed a scratch and a hole in Colorado. Since it’s a busy print rather than, say, a photo with big patches of solid color, it isn’t very noticeable, but still — it really sucks to take something in for preservation and have it actually deteriorate in the process. Also we got several different versions of what was going on when we talked to different people in the framing department. Some said it was already in process, some said it hadn’t been started yet, one even told me they were just super over-booked and not enough people were working to promise me a time or date. Really bad service.

I love the items, the craft supplies, and the people who work here are nice. HOWEVER, recently there has been a huge issue with checkouts while I’m in the store. The last three times I’ve been in the store I’ve had to wait in a line for over ten minutes to check out. Tonight I had to wait fifteen. It was ridiculous. It took five minutes to open another lane and then they moved people from the END of the line not the front so people who just came up checked out at least five minutes before me.
They either need better cashiers or a better system.

I hate this place with a passion. It bores me to tears, and I only come because my wife loves it. I know its just because I’m not a crafty guy, and I know this review won’t help anybody. I just needed to vent, lol. The staff is very nice and helpful, though, and my wife always seems to find more than she needs, so I gave it four stars. Again, my feelings have nothing to do with their level of service or products. Apparently I’m just not fond of arts and crafts.
