Downtown Wine & Gourmet

We were in town for a short time and looking for a decent selection of wines. The staff was super polite and informative. Great selection of wines and craft beers. A must stop if in the area. What a gem!

I was looking for a specific beer for a friend in Harrisonburg and called these guys looking for it. Michael, one of the employees here, took the time to not only find out when it would land, but offered proactively to reach out to me the second it got in. I called today to praise Michael’s level of customer service to his boss, and promised to write this review as well.
I will definitely be stopping in the next time I’m in town!

Extensive selection, superior helpfulness!
I was in charge of ordering a large amount of beer and wine for my brother’s wedding in nearby Luray. Amanda talked me through everything over the phone, and Seth took over via email with a personalized and descriptive list of beers and wines that matched our tastes and requirements for us to choose from. I was a bit nervous getting beer and wine we’d never had before, but the beer Seth helped us select was so good and spot on based on what we’d asked for. The owner, Amanda, delivered four kegs over the mountain herself and helped us on the other end with positioning and advice on keeping them cold, as well as how and when to tap them (it’s been a while since college). The Devil’s Backbone went down a storm and everyone was raving about the great beer and wine all night.
If you ever need help with a large event order in the area, this is the place to go! They know their stuff.

Downtown Wine & Gourmet is fantastic! Their selection and prices are great and they are always willing to help you find just the right bottle of wine! They also have a good selection of beer brewing supplies, and they have people there that will help you formulate your own personal recipe. Jay and Amanda, the owners have ordered me wine by the case for a few events and they always know exactly what wine will be perfect, and they are able to get it for a great price!!! I go for the extensive bottled beer selection! The staff has always been friendly. No complaints here.

Well, considering I managed this place for over a year it is hard to give an unbiased review.
Something like 500 different wine selections from $ 7−300/bottle. Something like 150 different beer selections which you can buy individual bottles of.
Service should be friendly and eager to help you pair wine or beer with something you are cooking or a special event. Definitely a locally-​owned business worth supporting!
