What I bought: Disc break replacement, hydraulic break bleed, standard tune up, and a «U lock». The pros: The staff there are both friendly and knowledgeable. There is a wide variety of bikes to choose from and they carry just about all the«standard» bike supplies such as gloves, locks, seat cushions, etc. All around a great shop. The con: Only reason this review receives 4 stars rather than 5 is because they told me my bike would be ready on Tuesday morning at the latest but I did not receive it until Wednesday afternoon. Reason I was given for the delay was a piece of their equipment had broke.

Just FYI Unilocal days they open at 10:00. They open at 11:00. Didn’t have time to wait around but they get 5 stars just for being a bike shop and contributing.

With all the beautiful scenery couldn’t help but come to area to find areas for cycling while on a drive to DC. After meeting up with an friend for lunch I was told to give Mike’s a try. Location: Tucked away from the main street Mike’s can be a little hard to find unless you know it’s there but it’s lot works well for a bike shop. Service: Since I was just here for information and didn’t need to buy anything or have any work done on my bike I can’t speak of price deals or craftsmanship. What I can say is the individual I spoke with was friendly and extremely friendly giving me info on an annual event, century rides and mountain biking. Selection: I was surprised to see the wide selection of products and bikes they had. It definitely rivaled the shops in Virginia Beach. Overall: Great shop with typical ticket prices for bikes and components that you’d find elsewhere in the state. Due to the selection and helpfulness I have to give this place 4 Stars but I wouldn’t be surprised if this turns to a 5 Star rating as I return for at least one of those rides… more to follow.

Pros: knowledgeable, friendly staff, great selection, they carry Felts! Cons: wish tune ups were a little cheaper Both my wife and I bought our first road bikes(2011 Raleigh Gran Sport for me and a Felt ZW for my wife) at Mark’s and were impressed with the quality of both the service and bikes from this store. My wife and I were neophytes to road cycling, but the staff worked closely with us over several visits to the store to set us up with bicycles that fit our budget and suited our needs. Other bike stores tend to be snobby(ahem, Shenandoah bike Co.) unless you are spending over a thousand dollars, but not Mark’s. Even though My wife and I have since moved away from Harrisonburg to DC, I still pop in when I’m visiting friends in town to stock up on whatever parts I need. If you’re looking for a great bike shop then look no further than Mark’s!
