My wife and I wound up here for our anniversary weekend, almost by accident. We liked it so much we stayed an extra day. Before I get into some of the other amenities, I’d like to say that the Italian garden is by far the best thing about this resort. It’s huge and beautiful. you could spend the better part of the day exploring the grounds. Room: Our room was very large and clean, with a very comfortable bed. We also had a very nice view. Recreation: There is an outdoor swimming pool, a huge fitness center, sauna, hot tub(will sit 8 – 10), beach volley ball court, horse shoe pits, bocce ball court. I heard there was a basketball court, but did not see it. And of course golf, a very very nice course, and it wasn’t crowded at all on a Sunday morning. Spa: There is an upstairs sitting area with complimentary beverages while you are waiting for your spa appointment. I don’t know if this is new, but have no idea why one reviewer was asked to wait in the breakfast area. Tavern Inn: We showed up here late on a Saturday night. Staff was very friendly. The wife ordered the filet and lobster, she was very very pleased. Said she would rate the steak as one of her top 5 favorites, that’s quite an accomplishment. The Grille: Showed up here an hour before sunset, stood around for 5 minutes while Kitchen staff walked past us, didn’t get seated, so we left. Disappointing. We spoke to several other guests during our stay, the common theme was most people were returning customers who couldn’t believe the value they were getting. A few of them referred to the place as a hidden gem. I think I would have to agree.

My husband and I recently spent 3 nights here after our wedding because we’re trying to save money for a big honeymoon this winter. We were shocked by how inexpensive the place was. We got the golf package so it was $ 120/person per night, but they gave each of us $ 20 food vouchers for each night, so it ended up being $ 600 plus tax for the 3 nights, with unlimited free golf. The golf course is beautiful! There were never long waits on the tee and I loved feeling so far away from highways and civilization. I will definitely be golfing there again! Now for the downsides: The rooms look like they haven’t been updated in 30 years. We knew it was a woodsy sort of resort, but I still hear«resort» and expect better than what we got. Also, what the other reviewers say about the air conditioner is dead-on. I did not get one night of restful sleep because everyone time it kicked on, it woke me up. The spa is VERY disappointing! My massage and facial were both wonderful and the people who work there were very pleasant and experienced, but the spa itself is very public and open. They told me I could go sit downstairs and relax, but I was in a practically see through robe, being told to sit right next to the continental breakfast! I think they need to make that area a little more private if they’re going to charge those prices. The grille was good and bad. It seemed to depend a lot on who was working. I got the fries one night and they were so soggy and disgusting. Another night though, I got the turkey sandwich on the pretzel bun and it was awesome. Also, we had some really great service there and some not so great service. All in all, it was good for a golf bar/grille, but definitely disappointing for us because we were staying at a «resort.» In conclusion, I should have realized that a resort charging so little would also offer little in return. If you’re looking for a local weekend golf getaway, I definitely recommend it. But, if you’re traveling from out of town and want a really nice resort, go to Hershey.

I was a groomsmen in a wedding that was held here. Call ahead for pricing on rooms since the prices listed on-line(including room availability) was not up to date. We ended up paying less per room, and there’s not much of a difference in quality and size between some of the lower end rooms in a few of the differently named buildings. Rooms could have been a bit more pleasant. They smelled strongly of carpet powder. But, they were clean and well kept. Not a 5,4, or even a 3 star room, but for the price, you couldn’t beat it. I think they should consider renovating and upgrading since they’re very dated. Overall the place was nice. The wedding was beautiful, the staff(particularly our shuttle driver) was pleasant and the food was amazing at the wedding. Food at the club house was also inexpensive and fantastic. Although the food at the bar(where the tiled cows are) wasn’t that great. I’ve worked in landscaping, and I can recognize that the sheer magniture of up keep for a place like this is probbaly daunting! The main walkways, including the gardens and wedding area were very well kept. A few areas were over grown, but either or, a nicely landscaped property. The only down side. I’m not sure if this woman is associated with the hotel or not, I was told she was. The wedding planner. She was terrible, rude and lacked manners. She served as nothing more then a monkey wrench throughout the entire planning and execution of the wedding. Luckily, we’re all strong willed, young whipper snappers so her ideas and nasty attittude were quickly 86’d. Me and the rest of the wedding party wasn’t going to let my best friends wedding get destroyed by this woman. She was on another planet, and presumably drunk. Our rehearsal was an utter waste of time. Not only did she unneedingly make the whole ordeal difficult, she also proceeded to show another client the facilities during our appointment. She was snappy and was unprofessional with her body language and forwardness when inappropriately grabbing guests physically to «move them». On the way to the ceremony, with the rest of the groomsmen and the groom, she blocked a road. When the our shuttle driver got out to tell her to move and that she was blocking the road for whatever reason, she angrily screeched tires, almost hit him and almost struck us head on! Do not use there wedding planner. This is a great place to get away from everything. Go to a remote place that’s beautiful without spending an arm and a leg to unwind.

The resort is set in a fairly nice setting, and gives that middle-of-nowhere feel, while being just a short drive from downtown Harrisburg and I-81. The gardens are nice, but look a little unkempt. On check in, our reservation had been screwed up, but it was quickly fixed without issue. When booking, I thought the rates were fairly inexpensive, but after the visit I understand why. The lodge rooms are on par with a roomy 2 or 2.5 star hotel. It was equipped with a mini fridge, which was nice, and basic cable TV. The bathroom had a large shower, but no tub. The A/C units are loud and will keep a light sleeper awake. I thought the mattress was a bit on the stiff side, but that’s personal preference. It’s worth a consideration if in the area.

Whatever they are trying to be… they have failed. Nice enough environment. Food is better at your local diner. Waitress was a little crusty. Basically bar food trying to be sold as high end. Save your gas.

This was an anniversary trip for my husband and I a few years ago. This resort was unbelievable. If you’re not getting spa treatments, you can walk around the gardens and relax outdoors. Speaking of the spa — oo-la-la! We started with baths unique to each of our needs — mine was for dry skin. We then had massages, facials and manicures. Everyone was amazingly friendly and the atmosphere kept you relaxed at all times. I hope to return sometime soon for another relaxing weekend.
