This is a great little pastry and sandwich place, most likely the best of its kind in Harrisburg. Nice service. Take out, for sure. Watch for the meter maid, though, even if you have to park and just run in! High quality ingredients and fresh baked delicious breads. My preference is to discard half the bread in a sandwich which in my opinion is way overdone to make it seem like you are getting a lot for your money, and pile the insides on the other half. Sometimes I have even thrown out three-quarters of the bread to make an open faced sandwich, and even then with the Butcher Block it seems like I’m eating too much bread for this sandwich.

1) they have awesome wifi 2) their food comes large so be prepared for huge portions which I wasn’t 3) I have yet to try all their other breads and such sadly but they were really welcoming and my sandwich was good. 4) they’re very community oriented from me just sitting there for 3 hours– they know their customers’ names I definitely need to come again when I’m not working.

I just had the most delicious sandwich here! I had a training two blocks away from where I work, and at lunch wandered around and came across the bakery. The staff was so friendly and worked quickly to keep the line moving. I ordered the turkey sandwich with bacon, smoked Gouda and Rosemary aioli(the name of the sandwich escapes me– they are all locally named). So delicious and fresh– a lot of turkey and Gouda, and the aioli complemented everything perfectly. Topped it off with a little chocolate peanut butter bonbon. I can’t wait to bring my husband here for lunch. Next time I’ll have to try the cookies– they were out but after seeing 6 people in the span of 10 minutes come and ask for a cookie, it’ll definitely be my next order.

I was in Harrisburg for work and use Unilocal to find a pastry shop nearby to the hotel I was staying at. Unilocal recommended Ciao Bakery and while I’ve definitely had better pastries it wasn’t too bad. I ordered the banana nutella scone. While I tasted the banana there wasn’t much nutella/hazlenut chocolatey-ness to the scone and it was a bit dry. I’m afraid it looked a lot better than it actually tasted. Probably wouldn’t go here again on another trip but if I did, I’d probably choose something different.

the chocolate chip cookies are amazing, huge, and only $ 1. I’ve never had a bad treat from here, really high quality stuff all around, good food and good service. a little cramped inside so don’t tell anyone about it so I don’t have to wait for my cookie, ok?

If I am craving something sweet, this is the place I go. Their desserts are always delicious. I recommend the peanut butter frosting brownie, sugar cookies, or chocolate peanut butter truffle.

My new go-to for morning coffee. Granted not the best coffee in the world, but definitely worth the $ 1.50. Friendly service and they’re open extra early, so you can arrive at work well-caffeinated and happy. I can’t wait to try the breads and desserts.

Ciao has become the sole supplier of bread in our household – a mandate instituted by boyfriend, but for good reason. We find their artisan breads to be delightful and very reasonably priced. Their breads are considerably less expensive than those from the bakery at Wegmans. You’ll find baguettes for $ 1.79 and loafs for $ 3.79. I recommend the rosemary bread! Get there early for the best selection. They keep extra baguettes in the back, so ask if you don’t see any out. Sorry, I can’t speak to the baked goods because I’m not a big fan of pastries. I can say they LOOK delicious and I’m sure they are.

I’ve had several of the selection of delicious sweet treats at Ciao Bakery and have never been disappointed with their selection, quality or taste. A wonderful place to grab a bite of something sweet. Their breads are also wonderful. I frequently stop in to get a loaf of the french bread, and it’s a work of beauty – crunchy outside, and soft goodness inside. Perfection.

If you’re missing the taste and feel of the kind of small bakery that is located in a large city, Ciao — a bakery is for you. No, there isn’t a mammoth selection, but what they do carry has never been a disappointment. Peanut butter fans, their Peanut Butter Truffle and Brownie with Peanut Butter Icing are both to absolutely die for. And with limited Saturday hours, even those looking to stay away from the crowded downtown are are sure to be pleased.

I HATE this place … for what their baked goods do to my diet! The lemon squares are delicious(nice and lemony), pecan bars sublime(think pecan pie) and the éclair was unbelievable(and huge). I’ve been searching for a bakery since I moved to Harrisburg this summer and this one is awesome.

The Cheese Danish was absolutely amazing. And the other stuff looked pretty delectable as well.
