This is the best Japanese restaurant in the Killeen/Harker Heights area! Although it’s not the best sushi I’ve ever had, the food is always good and it is the best Japanese food in the area. My favorites are the Japanese Curry with Chicken and the Dragon roll. The price is reasonable, if a little on the higher end. The staff is nice, but the wait time is kind of high(usually 20 – 30 minutes) and does get higher when the restaurant is busy. Altogether, still my recommendation for sushi and Japanese within a 1 hour drive.

Extremely disappointed. Over priced, not even halfway decent sushi. Safe your money and go elsewhere!

we were the only people in the restaurant and our server was taking her sweet ass time w/everything she was doing. anyways it took her approx. 7 minutes to take our order, the food came out pretty fast. the food was pretty tasty, but I think our server could’ve checked up on us more… to ask how our food was or maybe even converse with us. I can honestly say it was an awkward experience because while we were paying she just stood there waiting for us to enter a tip so I felt obligated to leave one… oh. and we stacked our dirty plates for her but she didn’t even bus it for us so the whole time we were eating, our table had a lot of finished dishes… maybe next time we’ll get better service our next visit.

This has been the best Japanese restaurants have try in this town. The ambient and service was great. I will totally come Back here again. Even my husband liked the sushi and he’s not a fan. The shakisoba was delicious.

Nice little place tucked into a plaza. Sushi is the best in three cities hands down. The rest of the menu is good too. Service can be a bit slow but very much worth it. Great place for a dinner date.

I really liked it! Me and my boyfriend managed to beat the evening rush and had a nice early dinner. The waitress was very attentive without being«clingy» which is perfect. The food is a little pricy but I think it is worth it since the flavors are amazing!

First time here and I would have to say it was great. Starting with the service and the appetizers to our entrees and especially the sushi.

I would give this place a 5 star for the flavor of the food but I made a reservation and 2 hours later and we all still don’t have all of our food. Sad…

Excellent food!!! It felt like a long wait despite being one of the only families in the restaurant. We had two little babes so time is of the essence, especially in the evening. The wait was worth it, we enjoyed every bite. We can at the beginning of Oct 2015.

Service was good, and the sushi was good too. A little too pricey, but I could deal with it.

They put too much rice on their sushi and it was awful! You could barely taste the filling. It put the sushi to shame. It was very disappointing =*(don’t waste your money!!!

Free miso soup had real tofu. Wasn’t bitter. Perfect. +1 star. Menu is diverse. Plenty of cream cheese and variations of «philly/cali» rolls for you-know-who-you-are people but also real authentic items like nabeyaki udon(not bad at all here) and tonkatsu(also reasonably good) etc. +1 star. Service was friendly and attentive even by those not waiting on my particular table. +1 star. On the day I went food came out quickly and no mistakes were made with my personal requests +1 star Sushi is average/below average but this is killeen. Having some perspective I appreciate the fact that they even serve ika and bin tori. Both of which weren’t terrible at all. And what they lack in quality at least the piece isn’t tiny. And they serve sashimi, the only place in killeen I could find that did. — 1 star So would be 3 stars… BUT. They play jpop. In killeen. Seriously props for not selling out. 4 stars for yoo!

Wow. What happened? This used to be such a GREAT restaurant. Tonight we made an order for pick up, arrived and were given the bagged order(and the cashier dictated all items on the order back to me). Got home to then find some of the order missing. A call was made to the restaurant and was met by a young girl saying«oh yeah, we were going to call you». Right. No offer to take the missing items off the bill, or to have someone run it out to us. Nothing. As if that wasn’t frustrating enough, the sushi was average… Not what we are accustomed to from this restaurant. Sushi is supposed to be an art; the pieces tonight were haphazardly cut, were a myriad of different sizes and really lacked the exceptional taste and care that this restaurant used to have. Sad. Something has changed. Not sure what it is, but, we won’t be going back to find out.

We just moved here from Florida and looking for a new sushi place and my husband and I loved it. It’s not a big place but it’s perfect and great atmosphere. It was his first time eating sushi and he loved it. The price is really good and the taste was amazing and fresh. We loved the soup and salad that came with it. We are use to Kobe steak house soup but like my husband said this has more flavor. The staff was super nice and friendly. They were a little busy due to someone birthday but the wait was worth it. Tonight’s date night picked was a great choice. :)

The good: The food here is great for central Texas. The atmosphere is chill with soothing music on the background. This is one of few places in Killeen that serves sashimi and somewhat authentic Japanese cusines. The bad: After receiving my asahi beer, sashimi dinner, shrimp tempura, and side dishes which was quit visually appealing. Two minutes into the dinning experience the waiter, a young lady whom have been doing good bringing me beer and taking my order brought me the check. After receiving the check I felt rushed and I just went ahead and took my dinner to go. I did enjoy the sashimi in front of Mcdonald which had bright lights. In my opinion, never bring the check before or during dinning experince, wait until toward the end. November, 2015. Went a second time and the waitress was different and we had a great service. The food came in succession and only gave me the check when I asked for it. The quality of food was great as well. Flavoreful, hot, and authentic, which made the experince worthwhile on a cold, rainy day.

If you’re looking for an authentic Japanese restaurant in the area, look no further. Shogun is IT, and it’s pretty darn good by any standard. Signs of authenticity: 1. PANFRIED Gyoza(not the deep fried nonsense), CHECK. 2. Actual Japanese people working there, CHECK. 3. Menu not flooded with a million hibachi, teriyaki options but real Japanese comfort food, CHECK! I get the Katsudon every time I’m there because it’s rare to find it on a restaurant menu and theirs is freaking delicious! It’s a pork cutlet with onions and egg simmered over a sweet and savory sauce served over rice. I’m surprised and delighted that such a treat could be had right here in Killeen/HH! The sushi here is good, but it’s not the star of the show. Service is friendly and, as others have mentioned, can be very slow at times. The staff simply cannot keep up when the restaurant is over half full, but the wait for the food is worth it. Despite its shortfalls, Shogun is truly a gem in an otherwise restaurant wasteland that is Killeen/HH. So wave goodbye to the usual hibachi and teriyaki. Go to Shogun and try the Katsudon, or sample other deliciously authentic choices on the menu!
