These guys rock! I needed a connection for natural gas grill so I sent them some photos of what I needed to connect. They responded the same day with the answer and a nice low price quote. They had the parts waiting when I stopped by they store. Helpful, knowledgeable, and priced right. Highly recommend these guys !!

Men’s heaven! Decent selection of grill and stuff for cooking outdoors. Great customer service and their sales people seem to know what they are talking about. A least their sales pitch is not as obvious as with other companies. Recommended!

I have purchased a few things from this store in the past. Such as gas lines, propane and some very cool cooking items for the bbq. I understand this place is now employee owed which is double cool. I love to support local business, not big box places as much as I can. Two years ago I purchased and had installed a new fireplace insert for my 110 year old house in SE ptld. The insert is wonderful, we use it all winter to heat our home. Unfortunately we did not buy the insert for the guys at Hometown. The place we bought it from is no longer in business. I contacted Derek at hometown Hearth for some help with a warranty issue I was having. He didn’t pass me off but insisted to help me and be the liaison between the factory and myself. With no reimbursement for his time and effort I might ad. I honestly cannot thank him enough for the extra time he spent to make sure I was taken care of. If they way he helped me is any indication of the company he and his partner are running it is going to be very successful. I am planning on getting a new bbq in the spring and I will definitely be going to see them. They have truly earned my business. Honest, trustworthy, hardworking small business owners. Does it get any better? THANKYOUDEREK!

I was unsure if I could reinstall a gasline in my grill, and the alternative was replacing the entire grill. I called Hometown on a Sunday morning, was thrilled to hear they had all the parts in and even had someone who made housecalls and was able to come out THATAFTERNOON. For a reasonable fee he brought everything with him, installed it in an hour, and made my grill good as new. It was wonderful. He was polite, they didn’t force me to drive all the way out and back, it was just easy. Thank you.

Oh man, the gentlemen that work here are just so niiiice. I know my way around a grill, gas and charcoal. I may get a little lost and sooty on my around but I know what’s going on there in the heat. So, I come here for all my supplies: tools, cleaners, chips, propane, grates. There is always someone on hand to answer my queries and let me browse through their catalogs for special stuffs. Recently I was frantic looking for a fireplace screen to withhold a 1yr old boy, Lowes and Home Depot were out until August(say what?). Hometown had at least 5 on display, more out back, and a huge catalog for me to search. I found one right there that was perfect, and discounted. Bitchin. I may sometimes be the only female there, but that’s kinda great. Great biz.

I have purchased a Treager and 4 months later came back to purchase a weber ep-320. These guys are super helpful and nice! They also have tons of parts and accessories. Dont be fooled by the store front. Yes I could have purchased my grill for $ 50 cheaper online but why buy from the random company located on the east coast and wait for shipping when you can buy local and have it today :) A++++

An old, somewhat out-of-place(compared to the big box stores surrounding it) looking house on SE82nd is home to this BBQer’s paradise in SE Portland. While I don’t know about the wood burning stove side of their business, I can attest to the fact that Hometown offers great things to BBQ enthusiasts. Hometown stocks things that can difficult to come by in Portland — all in one central location. Looking for a giant sack of chopped hickory or cherry logs for your smoker(and I’m not talking about those feeble bags of chips they sell at hardware stores)? Check. Natural lump charcoal(besides that mesquite stuff they sell at New Seasons that smells like a donkey’s ass). Check. A large selection of rubs and sauces? Check. A great selection of accessories? Check. A new smoker, grill or even a big green egg?(I love mine) Check. Hometown also appears to sell everything under the sun to connect gas grills and other propane related things to each other… I don’t really know about this, though… I’m just not a gas grill kind of a guy. But, if you were looking to do something crazy for Burning Man or your next garden party involving propane fired flames, this would the first place I’d go. What I really like about this place is that the guys know their shit. You can go in and have in-depth conversations about bbq’s, and they all have a great deal of knowledge and respect for the ancient art of cooking food outdoors over fire. Even if you are in the market for a little Weber kettle grill, skip the home depot, and head to hometown… +++++++ 9/21/09+++++++ One thing I forgot to mention is that a lot of the cool stuff(i.e. charcoal, wood etc) is kept in a storage unit in the back parking lot. You have to ask for it, as it’s not on display in the store.
