In mid 2014, we moved to the area. It was summer time, so the quest for ice cream was on in full effect. We’d been to the big chain places(I still love Dairy Queen) as well as some of the smaller local spots. Prior to coming across Heidi’s, my go to spot was Peaceful Meadows. Now it’s Heidi’s(unless I was to see the moo-cows). The outside of the building is like something you’d see on American Pickers in that they have a wide variety of classic/antique décor. On the outside they have the old-fashioned giant ice cream cone as their signage. On the building itself is a large Flying A sign. Inside there are also relics from the past. Thing of it is, it doesn’t come across as cheesy and confused, but homey and welcoming. You feel like you’re walking into a friend’s grandparents’ home. Outside there is some seating and a walk-up window. When you walk in, there’s the ordering area to the right, and a small amount of seating to the left. They have a chalkboard with all the flavors and I kind of wish they wouldn’t do that. Every time I go in, I get analysis paralysis since I know all the ice cream is delicious. The portion is about the same that you get in places like Cold Stone, but the prices are much easier on your wallet. The staff have always been friendly, polite, and quick with your order. What I love most about Heidi’s is they are open year round. So if you are in the area, swing on in for some of the best ice cream of your life.

Favorite local ice cream shop! If you can, get the pint to take home for later. They fill it over the brim so that the container can’t even close! More for later :)

This place is one of my favorite on the south shore. With a million different flavors to choose from, you really can’t go wrong here. The portions are huge, the prices aren’t bad, and the service is quick. I love the ambience of the place as well. It is a little old-fashioned with a bunch of tables around. There’s the antique shop which gives it a homey vibe as well. I used to play ski-ball as a kid here. It’s really a great place to take the family. My favorite flavor is the Nestle Toll House cookie dough. Seriously, there’s a piece in every bite. Gotta get back here!

Had a 2 scoop(medium) butter crunch ice cream here today. It was awesome. Much better than the air infused butter crunch at Friendly’s. This place is worth checking out. Ill be back!

So lucky to have such an amazing ice cream place so close. Super cute environment, everyone is beyond friendly, and the antique shop gives you something to do while you eat your ice cream! You’ll never regret coming here.

We love this place, so many flavors in ice cream, frozen yoghurt and sorbets. The only thing they don’t have is soft-serve. Great and super friendly service.

We had the khalua brownie and reeces icecreams– delish! portion sizes and prices are pretty standard. Front window a little tough to read because there is a lot going on with the décor and menu. Inside is much easier! If your in Hanson, this place is def worth the trip. Lots of flavors to choose from.

We’ve been going there pretty much once a week since for years now. I’ll give the 5 stars if Ma and Pa start serving warm Apple Crisp with vanilla!

If I could climb to the top of a mountain and yell anything of choice, it would be «I love Heidi’s ice cream!!» Each time I go, I end up slipping on my drool. And if that description doesn’t do it for you, then perhaps this will: Their selection of flavors is endless. You want almond joy? They got it. Birthday cake? You betcha. And if their selections aren’t enough, then their portions certainly are. I mean, a small is HUGE! Watching your figure? Then try the frozen yogurt– you won’t even know the difference! After eating at Heidi’s, you will never think about ice cream the same way ever again. I’m not lying when I say that it is life changing. I mourn for all of you that are missing out if you are lactose intolerant, but I will gladly eat a scoop for you!

I think Heidi’s in the best little independent ice cream shop on the South Shore and that it is trying to secretly kill everybody. I mean, this place is insane. It has an insane amount of flavors that are insanely good and insanely cheap. Plus, Heidi’s is Insanely over the top with its portions. Portion control does not even belong in the lexicon of Heidi’s workers and bless their sweet little teenage hearts for that. I think if I ever ordered a large here it’d be like taking a hot shot — there’s no way you can survive that much ice cream in one sitting. You’d simply blow up like Violet Beauregarde before keeling over stone dead from such a massive quantity. To wit, my brother and I went here to get a couple of quarts to bring back to the house. First, we wanted black raspberry, but we were told they only had enough for a pint. OK, we said. Well, this strawberry blond girl with a Boston Red Sox cap goes back and starts digging. Sure enough, she fills it to the top of the pint cup. BUTTHENSHEKEEPSADDINGICECREAMTOTHISALREADYTOPPEDOFFCONTAINER! Literally, she added almost another half a pint to our«pint» before she turns to a coworker and exclaims with complete sincerity,“Looks like we had just enough for a pint.” I shit you not. The cherry on top is the comical addition of a lid to the container; not a lid that’s spherical, but it was flat-topped. She just smushed it on top of the overflowing ice cream(which fortunately was rock hard so it was not melting everywhere), where it sat awkwardly like a fat man wearing a bowler hat. She proceeded to do the same with the quart of espresso heath yogurt we ordered. Gave us practically one and a quarter quarts. So very completely and totally over the top. But in such an amazingly awesome way. Anyways, the total was something like eleven dollars and that included the cones and side of jimmies/sprinkles we ordered. We tipped the girl a couple of bucks because she freakin’ earned it. As a customer, I’d nominate that girl for ice cream scooper of the year. As a business owner, I’d fire her for such egregious ice cream overkill. The ice cream and yogurt got devoured at home, and we had plenty left over since we’d been given enough to feed a small army. Bottom line — give Heidi’s Hollow a chance. It’s even worth the drive if you live in Boston.

Husby grew up around this area and his father used to take him to this place to get ice cream. We took a walk down memory lane and stopped in several weeks ago. There are a large variety of flavours but they were out of my first choice. I think I ended up with snickers and butter pecan in a waffle cone. They certainly give you a ridiculous amount of ice cream at very reasonable prices! I took my enormous cone and sat at one of the dilapidated benches by the parking lot. The ice cream was creamy and tasted very fresh. I remember thinking that it didn’t really taste like the flavours I ordered but it was still extremely delicious. I started to get a little sick to my stomach before I could finish the cone because there was so much ice cream. I was a trooper and finished it though. Not as good as Christina’s in Inman Square but quite comparable.

Toll house Cookie Ice Cream! If you haven’t heard of it, you are not alone. I just had my 1st encounter last night and and soooo thrilled like I went on a great date with it. My friend lives 2 minutes from here and she brought me here last night, she said it was better then peaceful meadows and now I know why. She insisted I get the Broken Cookie Sundae with the toll house cookie ice cream. Boy o Boy is it humongous but so good you do not want to share. They use one of there huge, delicious freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and surround the sundae with this. I will definitely be returning to try other flavors and pick up some cookies to go.

An interesting place that is half ice cream stand and half gift shop, Heidi’s features excellent ice cream at reasonable prices and is a real local hangout. The chidren’s size is big enough for most people, as it is a full scoop(small is two scoops, and large is three scoops). A nice little place off the beaten path that few people outside of the area seem to know about.

Oh my god. The best ice cream ever. We happened across this little ice cream joint en route to Edaville Trains, from Cambridge, and boy are we ever glad. So creamy! I still dream happily of the peppermint stick ice cream. My sweetie still waxes poetic about the buttery almond crunch… go eat it, right now. especially, if you’re in the area. even if you’re not, it’s a picturesque drive.
