We made the outlet, but the factory tour is only on certain days and by reservation. The outlet though– what great bargains. Walked out with 2 – 3 bags! Driving through or close to it again, we’ll be back again.

Between Snyder’s and Utz, little Hanover, PA is the snack-food equivalent of Mecca. Lots of pretzels and other snack food. Good place to take kids.

Amazing assortment of pretzels and other Snyder’s products. Saw many items I didn’t know existed. Great way to try out to items by buying their small sized bags at a good price.

Not the friendliest place with lots of «Do not take pictures» signs. The little store is just ok. Be careful what you select. I am one of those unfortunate people who reads food labels and many of their offerings contain artificial flavors. If you’re not particular about such things… may deals are to be had inside of this little store on various flavors of highly salty snack foods. My mom bought probably 8 sacks of various types of broken pretzels. Do they taste just as good as the all in one piece pretzels? you betcha. As others have said,… i don’t know that I would make a special trip here but if I was already in Hanover to shop for shoes, then I might stop over here to pick up a couple bags of salty goodness.

After visiting the Utz factory we said hey we might as well check out Snyder’s of Hanover while we are here. The outlet store for Snyder’s is decent but not as old fashioned and cool as Utz. Once you get spoiled by free samples you kinda look forward to it. But overall this store is cool as well, and has great prices on all the different snacks that Snyder’s makes… and trust me it’s a lot. I would stop back if in the area again for sure.

The tour gives you a pretty good overview of the operation and then you end up in the factory store. Great selection of stuff we don’t get in CA. Lots of great snack chips($.30) and pretzels($.45). Where else can you get chips for this price?

Friendly staff, would be nice if they were open a little later in the evening, best value are the items in the white, silver and clear bags, the«branded» bags are slightly less expensive at Target and Wal-mart. Another good value are the snack size bags. I do enjoy their sugar free candies and the sugar free cookies are about a $ 1.00 less than Target or Wal-mart. I visit a few times a month and recommend it.

I took my daughter and her friend(ages 5 and 6) here the other day, and it was an ok experience. I called ahead and made a reservation for the tour, which is recommended during the frenetic pretzel factory touring peak season that is apparently upon us. The woman on the phone informed me that I needed to arrive early, bring no camera, and be able to walk up a flight of 20 stairs. She said the tour lasted 30 – 40 minutes. The tour was fairly large – probably at least 20 people. We walked down several elevated hallways with windows to look out on the factory floor below. We saw the boxes whizzing by on conveyor belts, and pretzels dropping through something that looked like a giant funnel into plastic bags below. There is an oven room where you can feel the windows, which are very warm. The whole factory, inside and out, smells pleasantly like freshly baked bread. My daughter’s favorite thing(aside from seeing hundreds of Butter Snaps on a conveyor belt – those are her favorite), were the 2 silver twirly slides that the pretzels go down in a corner of one room. You can also see potato chips being made, though we arrived after they had finished up with that for the day. The tour only lasted about 20 minutes at the most. I liked it, but I’m not sure it would be worth going out of your way unless you had another nearby destination in mind. The factory store does now accept credit cards, because I was out of cash but still able to purchase treats for the girls.

i agree the tour is pretty cool. the outlet store has all kinds of crazy stuff like pumpernickle and onion, who would have thought of that. the petzels are usually a lot cheaper than the store, so you might as well check them out, plus they have super crazy deals on stuff thats being discontinued. i really loved these pretzels as a kid, i’d put so much mustard on them! retail store accepts cash only. on a negative note: staff flipped out though when they saw me take a picture of the logo, they asked if i was a competitive shopper and asked me to erase it. i didnt of course, i was pushing around a 60 year old lady in a wheelchair.

If you like snack foods, don’t miss the outlet store for some great deals on these famous pretzels and more. Update: Just scored 5 large bags of honey wheat sticks for $ 5! If you’re in the area — stop by!
