Old faithful for us. We come here for birthdays, anniversaries and just because! Always something new and delicious. We appreciate that in the Upper Valley!

It took 20 mins to order a drink and 20 minutes after we finished said drink to get our check. It’s a local college kids bar, in a loud setting.

Good food and good service. I had the bowl of chili, lots of meat and a good flavor, it hit the spot. My daughter had the fried chicken sandwich and loved it!

Good food, consistent and good service. Great place for a burger and beer although it can get a bit crowded.

Murphy’s is a local college hangout and was busy when we came in. We were told that the kitchen was about 30 minutes out which I appreciate, one group decided to leave and we decided to stay, it was quicker in the end. We ordered the sirloin burger and the«murph» burger both done medium one with fries and the other with Mac and cheese. Both burgers came out a little over cooked but they tasted great. The fries tasted good like any hand cut fry but they were very under cooked. As for the mac and cheese it was nice and creamy but lacked flavor, we were hoping for more from it since we were craving mac and cheese that day. The beer selection is good as you would expect from Irish pub in a college town. The wait staff was also good, a little wait at the beginning but nothing bad. Just some missteps and some mis cooked items, all and all the food tasted good, I would go back and try other things just not the mac and cheese.

Murphy’s is a place where most Dartmouth/Tuck students hang out at. It’s typically crowded, especially on Friday nights. I’ve tried their calamari and nachos appetizers. The calamari was a little chewy, but the hot peppers and spice made it enjoyable. The nachos were almost $ 16(including chicken) and they weren’t that great. The chicken was overcooked and the chips seemed a little stale. I’ve also had one of their seafood entrees(which was the«special of the day») that included mussels, clams, and shrimp with a side of rice and spinach. The mussels and clams were average, but I only had about 10 mussels, 2 clams, and 2 shrimp(that weren’t even grilled) all for a ridiculous price of $ 27! The waiter even forgot to add shrimp to our entrée until we questioned whether we were missing shrimp with our meal or not. Of course, the waiter didn’t tell my boyfriend and I the price of the entrée until we saw the bill. It also took over 30 min to get my food. The price of the food is overly expensive, the quality of the food is subpar, and you definitely won’t get your money’s worth for lunch or dinner. On the other hand, if you just want a place where you can drop by for a drink, then Murphy’s would be the place to go. They have a decent list of beer on tap and also have a full bar for cocktails.

The room at the back is great! Good for any event if you want a relatively private gathering together. The burger is great, nacho is a must, and the Kong Fu Girl wine!

Went to Murphys tonight and had the kale salad and veggie burger. I can easily say(as a vegetarian/pescatarian) this is the BEST salad in town. The kale was artfully massaged with dressing and the serving size is super filling with a nice side of goat cheese. I’m inclined to get this as takeout for the entire week! I didn’t even touch my veggie burger because I was so full but needless to say it was yummy too(better than the one at Molly’s, FYI). Four stars due to what I think is higher prices than this place warrants – they are verging on fancy Pine prices and the ambient doesn’t justify it.

Great service and the food was delicious! This restaurant has gluten free and vegetarian options. They even have a gluten free bottled beer. Great prices and highly recommended by this satisfied customer.

Okay, I am back on the prowl to give you a head’s up and to Watch your Ps and Qs! Pints for sure and what a disappointment to walk into Murphy’s, a place I admired for a long time for their honest pours. Well, no more, the pints are poured with a fat head(maybe the owner’s!) to give ½ to an inch of foam on top of an already short glass. By that, I mean that Murphy’s has resorted to the fat bottom pint. I pointed this out to an employee and his response was that they had to because they were breaking so many of the other glasses. He added, «They still hold the same amount.» I guess he failed physics and chemistry in high school. You cannot put the same volume of liquid into a smaller vessel. Look on my profile for the pic with the Sam Adams bottle next to a fat bottomed pint. That is what 12 ounces looks like in this sort of glass. And guess what? Look at the top of the beer. That looks like a decent pour. But the glass of beer(I refuse to refer to it as a pint, which it ain’t) that I received had an inch of foam on top. Physics again: what part of the glass(pint or otherwise) holds more liquid, the top or the bottom? Right, the top! So, for my «pint» at Murphy’s, I probably got 10 ounces of beer and paid for 16!(Many bad expletives follow!!!) Murphys has fallen into line with others in town. Canoe Club was the original. If you go around the corner from Murphy’s for Thai food and want a beer, order a bottle because they have fat bottom glasses at Tuk Tuk, too. And the pour there was atrocious with about 1.5 inches of head. I like a little head but not to the point of getting screwed! Well, at least not with my beer. Come on Hanover. At least Salt Hill remains true to the pint. At least on the bottom end. We need legislation, weights and measures, glasses with true markings on the glass to let us know we have gotten an honest pint! Want more math? 2(16 ounce) pints to a quart. 4 quarts to a gallon. Take a premium craft beer in a 5 gallon keg and you get 40 pints per keg or 640 ounces. 640⁄16 = 40. Short the pint by 2, 640⁄14 = 45.7. Cheat with a fat bottom? 640⁄12 = 53.3. Pure profit on those extra 13 «pints.»

Every college town seems to have a place like this — dark wood, not too much seating and bathrooms in the basement. Murphy’s replicates this kind of pub experience in their own manner(polished casual) featuring local ingredients and a decent tap list. My party of six got the booth at the front window, which was great for people watching and a level of privacy. The air circulation wasn’t the best, but our waitress did her best to keep our ice water glasses filled. Pepperocini was a nice addition to the calamari appetizer and the house made vegetarian burger got the job done, with thick-cut sweet potato fries. Two of my colleagues got the Murph burger, which certainly was hearty including thick-cut bacon. With the Harpoon Vermont Brewery nearby, you can always expect to have their flagship IPA on draft, along with another seasonal selection — in the summer it was UFO White. College bar/pubs can be considered to be a dime a dozen, but Murphy’s represents the category well. You can get a filling meal or simply stop in for a pint, but either way the central location makes this a solid, convenient option for Dartmouth students, staff or visitors. Murphy’s won’t change your life, but knows what it is and doesn’t try too hard to be transformative.

I had the nachos at Murphy’s and they were excellent. My friends and I ordered the large nachos and demolished them in minutes. The prices were a little high, but the food and atmosphere was good. Also, unlike other restaurants in Hanover Murphy’s actually was open past 10 pm.

Loved the décor — like you were in a library, so it fit the academic ambiance of Dartmouth. Unfortunately, food was a bit disappointing and service was pretty slow. Granted, it was graduation weekend… but still wasn’t expecting to wait almost 30 minutes for food to arrive. The high point: the wings. The low point: the crabcakes(cooked too long so they tasted burnt). In between: the mussels — unsure if this is a New England thing, but mussels seem to have aioli on them which make them seem a bit heavy.

I have always loved Murphy’s on the Green but went there last night and the food was awful. I knew immediately that the chef had been replaced with a line cook. I got the vegetarian meal and it had sugar snap peas. The ends of the peas were not cut off so there were crunchy brown stalks on them. Everyone who has ever cooked sugar snap peas know you have to cut off the ends. The meal was a can of garbonzo beans mixed with pearl couscous, sliced red pepper and sugar snap peas. I could have made it at home for almost nothing and they charged $ 17. My husband ordered the Murph burger and they didn’t have any burger so he settled for a steak sandwich. It came out so slimy and sloppy he couldn’t even pick it up. I asked someone on the staff what happened to the chef and he said he left 3 days prior. I love the atmosphere and want to continue to go there. I’ll give it another try but if the food is as bad as it was last night, I’ll have to find another hang out.

TL;DR: better than Molly’s for quality of food but worse for variety, but not quite as good as Pine. Less fun for drinks due to limited cocktail menu and snacks. Bad for vegetarians. Food: Murphy’s is classic, standard American fare but lacks vegetarian options. I loved the Murph burger and their chicken; after going vegetarian, I’ve been struggling to find something I liked as much. The veg head burger is very savory and delicious with the pita outside, but they’ve replaced it with a regular bun which doesn’t do much to highlight the burger’s flavor. When they had it, the falafel was just ok, but I would save your money because there are three small falafel balls, a ton of uncooked kale and an oversized pita wrapped around it. Curried garbanzos are TERRIBLE. The nachos which everyone loves are very mediocre — just cheese, chips and some bean mush. Half a plate is enough for two people as a starter. French fries are always tasty, but be aware that the sweet potato fries are really sweet potato chunks! They’re not great unless they’re crispy, so order regular fries to be safe. The bar: For going out, go to pine or canoe club instead. Murphy’s has a good wine/beer menu, and it’s a fun place to go for casual drinks w a lot of friends. But I prefer the ambiance of Pine or Canoe Club as well as their cocktail menu, since Murphy’s doesn’t do cocktails. Their late night snacks are also very limited. The nachos are the only vegetarian option and the other small bites choices are calamari or zucchini/shrimp fritters. Atmosphere: Nicer than Molly’s to go for a date since it feels more intimate. Service is also more attentive, professional and knowledgable. Both of these are still a step down from Pine.

Mmm another Hanover classic. This place is always pretty popping every time that I’ve showed up. The burger is a popular favorite. I went for their seafood special which was amazing last time. It was scallops on a bed of mashed potatoes served with brussels sprouts and pork belly. Like what ?? How did they even execute that one so flawlessly? It was delicious. I also got a side of the mac and cheese which was also a great choice if you don’t want to commit to an entire bowl of mac and cheese as your dinner meal. Service is extremely slow and lackluster though. There could be pretty significant improvement in this area. I think the problem is that they have so much business that it probably just gets overwhelming for them to deal with all the different parties. It took us way too long to flag down our waiter and to get her attention. The wait for the food wasn’t too bad. The only efficient part of our meal was when we were paying, probably because they really needed the seating capacity we were using since we were a pretty big group. They did split our check though which was really nice of them since we were a table of 10ish or so. tldr; always a solid place for good food, service could be better

I have been to Murphy’s for date nights, family dinners and large functions and every time my experience has been superb. The success of this restaurant has to be attributed to their owner, who you will find seating customers, bussing tables and bringing out food on busy nights. He is a wonderful guy who really strives to serve delicious food in a relaxed and comfortable environment. The food– Yes, their burgers are absolutely to die for but they have more upscale menu items as well. Nightly specials vary from duck to steak to lobster ravioli. Everything is fresh and put together well. There’s also a decent selection of local beers on tap. The staff– Extremely friendly, attentive and knowledgable of their menu items. On a few occasions our party has waited a substantial amount of time for our check to be dropped off or drinks to be refilled, but I think this may be attributed to understaffing. The environment– Murphy’s is a true pub environment: wooden booths, tightly squeezed tables and a big bar with large TVs. I’ve heard people complain about tables being too small but it has never bothered me. Overall, if you’re in the Hanover area you should definitely visit Murphy’s for some good food and a cold beer.

I’ve been here a few times now, and Murphy’s is consistently solid. They have a warm and attentive waiting staff, and always serve a nice variety of New England beers on tap. The interior is the pub aesthetic at its finest — mahogany, bustling, but never too noisy — and the fare is the usual selection of pub classics. You pretty much can’t go wrong with any one dish, but the standouts for me were definitely the Murph Burger, the wings, and the nachos. Perfectly crisp bacon and a tangy remoulade top the burger, and the nachos look and taste like real cheese, jalapeño, and beans — not the canned stuff. Among the local Dartmouth haunts, this is definitely at the top of my list.

My friend and I came here twice in one day(don’t judge, haha). The first time I got the mussels two ways and the second time I got Murphy’s burger. The mussels were delicious… They provide you with a tiny fork to eat them with and bread to dip in the soup. The fried shallots are the best part of the burger, which was cooked exactly how I wanted. The fries here are excellent. The service is friendly and attentive. Would come again the next time I’m in this part of the country.
